Abstract

This article describes prophetic culture which is implemented to Javanese society. There are three important pillars, namely transcendence, liberation, and emancipation. These pillars are understood clearly and elaborated in detail. Those indicators are used as the guidance on implementing a more dignified human life.

Abstract

This article discusses the religious symbolism contained in the lyric of Cowong arts. Interpretation of the symbol refers to Ricoeur thought as reading strategies. Language in the Cowong art poem recited in the middle-Javanese language, that asking the Creator for the coming rain. It’s very unique cycle with tracing the hydrological cycle, but the procedure for disclosure of poetry is the prayers that are being said to the Creator. Those prayers believed as granted revelation of rain after the ritual is done.

Abstract

This article describes Mohammad Fudoli Zaini’s work by analyzingits content. His work figured world-in as a counter to literature paradigm world-outside. The basic of world-in comes from the conscience, based on obedience and religiosity. His world-in paradigm rooted on Jalal al-Din Rumi, an outstanding Persian Sufi who said that world-in might be better on changing oneself and its society.

Abstract

This article explores a new view of the relationship between theconsumption patterns and spiritual transformation, which is discussed ina Sufi perspective. Hunger tradition as Sufi’s consumption pattern is seenby Muhammad Zuhri as a medium for self-recognition. If someone hasbeen able to get to know himself, then it will gradually know the qualityof himself. Humans, is individually a weak creature, can not live withoutthe help of another man and the universe. In this context, the cosmos andthe self is "Theophany" of God. Humans are as caliph who serve the Lordand at the same time taking care of the universe. Fasting in religionsteach this consciousness. Fasting as one of the Sufi tradition have multifunction, namely as a means for someone to be close to God, man, andthe universe.

Abstract

This article shows the Qur’an’s wisdom on social transformation.The enculturation wisdom offered by The Qur’an is clearly showed on itsverses. Those wisdoms follow a certain pattern which started by first,admitting local traditions second, processing those local traditions by refusingsome of them in humanism consideration. Finally, a judgment istaken by refusing or accepting it with some modification. The missionoffered is intended to reach the moral goodness, create and protect thesocial order and it’s equilibrium.

Abstract

This article is the ethnographic notes on leutik Hajat Solokan, aritual ceremony of farmers in Babakan Dago, Rancakalong district,Sumedang West Jawa. This ceremony reflects wisdom values, such asprotecting and maintaining ecological systems which supports their mainjobs, cultivating rice fields. This article provides empirical evidence aboutculture system which packing religious values in order to make it sturdyand stay longer. The writer also found acculturation among some religiousvalues, Hinduism, Chinese, and Islam.

Abstract

This article shows the wisdom of Sufism on social transformationin Java at the early spread of Islam. Sufism approach tends to emphasizeon self-awareness while accommodating ornamental outer symbols. Abstract

This article describes the symbolic meaning of Gundul-gundul Paculsong. This is a song in Javanese language which is popular among Javanesechildren. This song, has a deep moral message, such as humility and zuhd.Since they are famous as humble people, they use satire to convey messageswhile they are playing with their friends.

Abstract

This article shows the Islamisation process in Indonesia using twotheories, Arab and India. In discussing this point there should be a differentiationbetween the first and the second theory. The first theory is representedby the real first relation between Indonesia Islam. Meanwhile thesecond theory shows the growing of some Islamic kingdoms. Abstract

This article describes the sewelasan culture as a learning system inAolia’ congregation Panggang, Yogyakarta. The data is collected by doinga depth interview and documentation. Sewelasan in Javanese traditionis used to empower the members. Character materials is exploredand elaborated from(sira>h) awliya>’ history which is read to trigger theconsciousness and closeness to God. The Islamic scholars transform thosevalues in analogy, symbols and dialogue among students.
