Abstract

One of the main goal of science education is to support students’ intellegency development. Therefore, in this term, the goal is most of students could be function at logic thinking level. Generally for science learning, logic thinking does not manage directly, planned and intentionally. The lack of students in problem solving and think logically has influenced  students’ achievement. Lower level of students’ thinking process was one of problem resources. Preparation of qulified students could be conducted through problem solving, such as thinking improvement approach, strategy, or method, also any learning technique

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to study character of A. nilotica includes morphology description, anatomy, and ecology (life cycle, spreading and seed production in BNP, stand structure, soil condition, and association of species). Research method used to know cycle life, spreading and seed production in BNP and the done conducted stand structure with direct perception in field. Produce seed used a square method having a nest counted 10 squares by using plastic. Obtained stand structure data with model is Permanent Square for the width of 20 x 20 m of counted 15 squares and at each square measured by a diameter and high counted 10 trees. Analysis of association used contingency table, and Influence of salinity to soil used result of laboratory analysis. Conclusion from this research are (1). There are six step life cycle of A. nilotica that is seed corps, seedling, juvenile, adult, flower, and seed in pod, (3). Stand structure of A. nilotica in BNP pertained as straightened age, (4). There are three of species positive association to A. nilotica is bayapan (Brachiria reptans), rumput gunung (Oplismenus burmanii), dan rumput kawat (Dactyloctenium aegyptium), (5). The analysis of soil fertility parameter indicates that there symptom of effect treatment salinity concentration at test soil, (6). Treatment salinity concentration has an effect to organ damage A. nilotica, specially on root, bark, and leaf. So that at 14 HST of most crop test has died the effect unable to tolerate tried treatment.

Abstract

The utilization of plants as traditional Aceh food is a hereditary action for generations. Today, there are some tendencies that the knowledge of traditional Aceh food is declining. Various foreign and instant foods which enter Aceh are one of the tendency causes. The circumstance in Aceh which is not conducive makes many variety of plants in the forest are no longer use. The missing generation as an effect of earthquake and tsunami disaster happened in Aceh brings possibility of loosing knowledge of traditional Aceh food.This research aims to make a proposal of plants utilizing management as material of traditional Acehn food from local knowledge to be sustained for generations in Banda Aceh. It can be conducted in: (1) knowing the kinds of plants used for Aceh food by society. (2) Knowing the value and contribution of utilizing plants as traditional Aceh food for society. This research conducted from June to August 2005, continued in January until March 2006.The collecting of data conducted in two villages. They are in Lam Ara village in Banda Raya sub district and Darussalam village in Syiah kuala sub district. The technique of data collecting is with interview, intake of plants sample in field and field observation. Determining of responder conducted with the random stratification sampling method which is divided into three groups.Result of research indicate that there are 118 plant type consisted of 43 familia. Among 43 familia from plant used in traditional Aceh food, there are 5 familia which its use most often.  They are Fabaceae, Rutaceae, Solanaceae, Rubiaceae And Euphorbiaceae. Among plants used by society there are 16 kinds of plants have been generated intensively, 25 kinds are not intensively generated, 36 kinds is obtained from forest or wild nature. And 23 kinds of plant utilized come from outside area. This result is obtained from 51 kinds of Traditional Aceh food. Potential Plant developed among other things are shallot ( Allium Cepa L.) with the value of plant utilizing at  food is more than 28 food, garlic ( Allium Sativum L.), red pepper ( Capsicum Annum L.), and coconut ( Cocos Nucifera L.) with the value of plants utilizing is between 22 to 28 at traditional Aceh food.

Abstract

Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is a widespread causative agent of exanthum subitum or roseola infantum. The species of HHV-6 is divided into two variants, HHV-6A and HHV 6-B, which might be detected and identified by PCR and RE methods. The three samples of eye swabs from children with suspected HHV-6 neurological illness were extracted by guanidium isothiocyanate method before running in PCR followed by agarose electrophoresis as a detection stage. The positive results were then identified by RE analysis to determine the variant of the viruses. One of the three samples (sample 2) shows positive result in direct electrophoresis and it was identified as HHV-6B which produced two fragments of 153bp and 70bp in the RE analysis. PCR and RE analysis are useful methods in detection as well as identification of HHV-6

Abstract

The research about food preference of Sumatran elephant have conducted in Jantho Natural Reserve Aceh Besar District inAcehProvincein April to June 2006. The aim of this research was to identified elephant food species vegetation in elephant habitat. This research used direct observation method in 20 transect. We found 22 species eaten Sumatran elephant in Jantho Natural Reserve Aceh Besar District. The food preference consist of Moraceae, 11 species (18,74%), Poaceae, 15 species (15,64%), Arecaceae, 9 species (14,52%), Euphorbiaceae, 6 spesies (9,95%), Mimosaceae, 5 spesies (6,25%), Caesalpiniaceae, 2 spesies (3,30%), Cyperaceae,4 spesies, (3,27%), Bombacaceae, 2 species (3.23 %), Gleicheniaceae, 4 species (3.22%), Zingiberaceae 4 species (2.77%),Fabaceae, 2 species (2.58%), Musaceae, 1 species (2,10%), Apocynaceae, 2 species (1.94 %), Ebonaceae, 1 species (1,70%), Sapindaceae, 1 species (1.41%).

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate the performance of contracting Biology teachers working on preparing teaching plan and teaching learning process. The population was 54 contracting Biology teachers who were teaching at SLTP and SMU in Nanggroe Aceh Darusssalam province. The sample taken by purposive random sampling was 24 teachers. The instruments used in this study were an essay test which was used for measuring the performance of teaching plan and teaching learning process by IPKM-1 and IPKM-2. The analyzed data showed that the contracting Biology teachers’ working on making teaching plan and t teaching learning process stay at level “enough and good”. It is supported by the average score 2.53 for making teaching plan and 2.14 for teaching learning process.

Abstract

Observation had been conducted for life cycle and morphology of Nematoda Sista Kentang (NSK).The result shows J2 has been found in the day-eight, whereas J3 and J4 was found in the day 20 to 32 after the plant budding. Female J4 has bottle shape and matured has swollen shape. Mature female Nematode has golden color and is called Golden Nematode. Male nematode formed worm. Both male and female nematodes were found in the day-forty after budding. The amount of eggs  are around 300 to 600 depending on cyst size. Cyst has been found in the day-fifty six after budding.

Abstract

The study of learning model based on  problem instruction is aimed to improve learning output in animal structure and tissue function in class XI SMA I Meulaboh. The population is all of students from class XI consisting of 5 classes and 184 students. Five students was taken from each class as the sample based on the result of the examination which is lower than SKBM (equivalen with 65 in Meulaboh). The data was collected by giving pretest and postest. T-test on level α= 0,05 was obtained t-score = 29,7 and t-table = 1,71. It revealed that t-score t-table, so that the HA was accepted. The activity of the  teachers and students in learning process has done about 81,7 % and 94,6 % which was in good catagory. The students has completed the learning process in that sub concept.

Abstract

The sea has essential component for human cultures and it’s highly related to other ecosystems. Plankton is the essential food resource of fish in the sea ecosystem. The living of plankton is influenced by various factors, such as waste industrial discard. Some big industries have been exploited the sea as a liquid waste discard place, include PT. Pupuk Iskandar Muda (PIM) and PT. Asean Aceh Fertilizer (AAF) in North Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province. The objective of this research is to determine plankton diversity index. The research was conducted at 3 location:  (1) PT. PIM outlet, (2) PT. AAF outlet, and (3) in the middle of lagoon. The data was analyzed by diversity index of Shannon Wienner. Diversity  index  of  plankton  at  both  liquid waste discard PT. PIM and PT. AAF showed high level diversity.

Abstract

Human elephant conflict surrounding agriculture and forest became higher a long year. The fenomena cannot be solved until now. We proposed new technigue, Geographic Information System (GIS)  for solving the problem mainly in agriculture area. The aim of this research for estimating habitat carrying capacity of Sumatran elephant habitat (Elephas maximus sumatranus Temminck) using Geographic Information System. Habitat and animal parameter estimated consist of biotic and abiotic factors. The factors analized suitability analysis using software Autocad Map 2000 and Arcview 3.1. this research result showed habitat carrying capacity in secondary forest (wet season :0,89±0,11 s.d 0,96±0,12 elephant/km²; dry:0,55±0,07 s.d 0,59 ± 0,08 elephant/km²) higher than primary forest (wet season: 0,20±0,02 to 0,26±0,05 elephant/km²  dry: 0,09±0,01 s.d 0,11±0,02 ind/km²). Based on suitability analysis estimated elephant carrying capacity in Tessonilo Forest in wet season (689,45±51,67 to 750,05± 109,14 elephants) higher than dry season (397,85 ±48,45 to 434,88±61,51 elephants). Elephant numbers fluctuated seasonally can be used for planting time strategy in agrculture system. The estimation of habitat carrying capacity did not consider habitat use seasonally.
