Abstract

The aims of this research were to determine the effectiveness of waste water processing in reducing content of phenol in RSUDZA. Research was conducted from June to September 2009. This research used 2 locations sampling which consist the tub before processing (inlet) and after processing (outlet), then data taken in 10 repetition consecutive days. The observed parameter ware phenol content and parameter like pH, BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) dan TSS (Total Suspendid Solid) content. Data were analyzed by using paired t test (P0,05). The result show that fenol content were significant different before and after the processing. Phenol content decreased from 32% to 96.4%. Phenol content (0.020 mg/L) outlet had fulfilled the quality standard already established. These refer as judged effective values the pH parameters show that there were increasing. The result also show that not only phenol content decrease but also BOD, COD and TSS content.

Abstract

The research was done in Baluran National Park, Banyuwangi East Java in April to June 2004. The objectives of this research were: to determine of species composition, importance value of species, diversity index and evenness index, similarity index, distribution pattern of species, and species association. This research used the quadrat method. The determination of the species distribution was calculated using Poisson distribution formula and the determination of association was calculated using contingency table. The results of this research indicated that,  there were 20 species of  plant belong to 8 familiy. The importance value was between 0,42-59,54, and species with high importance value is Oplismenus burmanii, Axonopus compressus, and Synedrella nudiflora. The diversity index was between 1,3329-2,5271, and evenness index was between 1,5364-1,9848. The distribution pattern of species indicated that 12 species were  clumped, 6 species reguler, and 2 species were at random.  The multi-plants tend to have a clumped distribution pattern, and single plant tend to have a reguler or random distribution pattern. Abstract

This study aims to determine the levels of extracellular matrix (collagen content) at various levels of aged rats and aged rats to acquire suitable for use as an animal model of aging for the reproductive system. Experimental design used was Complete Randomized Design (CRD), which consists of 5 (five) experimental groups, each group consist of three (3) rats, which is the group one used 12 months aged rats (K12), group 2 used 18 months aged rats (K18), group 3 used 24 months aged rats (K24), a group of 4 using 30 months aged rats (K30), groups of 5 using 36 months aged rats (K36). The data obtained were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan test. Decreased levels of collagen (extracellular matrix) of the uterus begin to occur in rats aged 24 months. An aged rat suitable for use as animal models ofaging for the reproductive system is a 24-36 months aged rats.

Abstract

Model are a physical medium used to deliver educational content educational materials that can stimulate students to learn. One of the model that can be used in learning, especially learning the human respiratory system are the model of scrap materials. The research was conducted in South Aceh regency Sawang MAN. The purpose of this study was to determine the increase in academic achievement and student responses to the use of model used ingredient in explaining the human respiratory system in Sawang MAN South Aceh regency. The subject of this study was all students in grade XI IPA-1 MAN Sawang South Aceh district, school year 2010/2011. The design of this study is Classroom Action Research (PTK). Instruments used in this study is Teacher Observation Sheet (LOG), Student Observation Sheets (LOS), test (pre-test and post-test), and questionnaire responses of students. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that an increase in student achievement based on the thoroughness of student learning both individually and classical indication of the success of student learning based on test results (pre-test and post-test), t test analysis, as well as the positive response of students towards learning with use props material scrap materials on the human respiratory system. Teacher and student activities are categorized either as a whole.

Abstract

The research is aimed to isolate and observe the morphology of chitinolitic bakteria. The research was conducted since November 2010 until Apryl 2011 at Microbiology Laboratory ofMathematics and Sciences Faculty, University of Syiah Kuala. The method used is experimental method. Locations of water sample taken are at sea, river, and embankment which taken in some areas around Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. The results showed that there are 18 pure cultuated chitinolitic bacteria isolates. And the results of morphologycal bakteria colony showed that all isolates were circle shape colony. It was found that the flat shape of colony is 14 isolates and 4 serrated. The sizes of colony were found from 1,0 mm until 3,5 mm. The white isolate are 13 and 5 yellowish. The most of isolates are negative gram which bacil and coccus cell shape.

Abstract

The study aims to enhance the quality and quantity of rice flour in drying process, especially when it is compared to the conventional sun drying. The rice flour was dried for 2 hours at different thickness of 1 and 1.5 cm. The temperatures were measured at several points of the dryer’s tray that is consisted of 4 layers, which was counted from the lowest layer as the first level. The samples were weighed in a small box which was put in the near border of the tray (box A) and in the centre of the tray (box B) for each layer. All measurements were done at interval of 15 minutes. Results showed that the temperature for drying the rice flour at depth 1.5 cm was 66 °C, which was higher than that of drying the rice flour at depth 1 cm (60.5 °C). In consequence, the relative humidity in the drying room at depth 1.5 cm was 35 %, which was lower than that of at depth 1 cm (61.8 %). However, the drying rate at depth 1.5 cm was lower than the drying rate at depth 1 cm. In addition, the distance of tray to the heater was also found to cause the low drying rate.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the potency of the integration strategy of PBL with cooperative learning of Jigsaw in mmproving the students understanding of concept. This research belongs to quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest nonequivalent control group design factorial 2x2. The research variables consist of independents variable A B, the former is the integration strategy of PBL + Jigsaw and conventional learning strategy and the latest is low and high academic ability. While the dependent variable is understanding of concept. The research population is the new students of four study programs: Biology, Biology Education, Chemistry, and Chemistry Education in the faculty of Math and Science UNM in academic years 2011/2012. Two classes were selected as the research samples, Chemistry Education (N=36) as the experimental class, and Biology class (N=30) as a control class (using conventional strategy). On those two classes, the students with high and low academic ability are selected based on the result of grouping test. The instrument used is essay test on Fundamental Biology course. The research data were collected by giving test before and after treatment then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Anacova is used to test the hypothesis of differences. The research result shows that (1) the strategy of learning has an influence on the concept understanding of the students so that the integration strategy of PBL+Jigsaw has more potency to improve concept understanding of the students rather than conventional one, (2) There is no differences of understanding of concepts on high and low academic ability, (3) there is no influence of interaction between the learning strategy with academic ability toward concept understanding.

Abstract

Limbah ikan banyak yang terbuang dengan percuma, padahal limbah ikan masih mengandung sejumlah protein. Protein tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan kembali dengan cara menghidrolisis limbah ikan menjadi hidrolisat protein ikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari sifat fisikokimia hidrolisat protein ikan yang diperoleh dengan hidrolisis menggunakan enzim. protease alcalase dan flavourzyme. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hidrolisat protein ikan yang menggunakan enzim alcalase mempunyai kandungan protein yang lebih tinggi, kadar abu lebih rendah serta warna yang lebih gelap dibandingkan hidrolisat protein ikan yang menggunakan enzim flavourzyme.

Abstract

The milkfish represent one of the high commodities of protein and consumed many by society in Aceh. This research aim at to know influence of fuel type to quality of milkfish use appliance smoked of cabinet type. Time needed to degrade water concentration around 15% at coconut shell of coconut fuel is 4 hours, representing lower concentrate rate of water of smoked milkfish. Protein rate in milkfish smoked use  fuel coconut shell is 32,75%, chaff of rice  27,18%, coconut coir 37,70%, and wood 27,09%. Fat rate of milkfish smoked use coconut shell of coconut fuel is 7,84%, chaff of rice  9,18%, coconut coir 7,13%, and wood 8,85%. In the test of organoleptik shell of coconut and coconut coir shows fish product which prefer either from form, colour, aroma and feel.
