Abstract

Search, solve, create and share (SSCS) learning model  can help students to evolve some generic skills namely spoken, coorporation, and problem solving skills. Those skills are the aspects of assessment to evaluate the achievement of teaching learning process that implements SSCS models. The study was aimed to determine the increase in student achievement, scientific generic skills, and correlation between the skills and the learning outcomes  of students of class VII of MTsN Model Banda Aceh in 2013 in concept of classification of living things  throught implementing SSCS model. The study used experimental method with randomized control group pretest - posttest design . The study used two classes experimental-group and control-group classes chosen according to pretest scores. Data was collected pretest, posttest and scientific generic assessment The results showed that the value of tcount ttable  (5,8 1,6). This indicated that there was a significant increase in students learning outcome. The value of t-count of communication aspect (1),  coorporation aspect (2,7), and problem solving skills (3,4). The correlation among  communication , cooperation  and problem solving skills was high ( r = 0,7).  Therefore it can be concluded that there were increases in student achievement and scientific generic skills and correlation between scientific generic skills and cognitive student learning outcomes except communication aspect.

Abstract

Crocidolomia binotalis is the main pest on broccoli by feeding the leaves causing damage by 100% (Dono Rismanto, 2008). This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Plant Pests Department of Agrotechnology Faculty of Agriculture Univerrsity of Syiah Kuala Banda Aceh from January to December 2014. The aim was to investigate the effectiveness of mixture of extract of papaya leaf and castor beans on mortality of C. pavonana mortality. The study used completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that the mortality of larvae has reached up to 90 % and feeding inhibition  was 91.04%, decrease in the pupae stage 56.67% and imago 46.67% compared to other lower treatments.

Abstract

The study was aimed to determine the description and classification of questions, distribution of questions raised by teachers, capability of teachers and the techniques, and the effect of the techniques on student achievement. The method was quantitative descriptive. The data was collected from 1 st April to 30th 2013 in 14 junior high schools in Banda Aceh throught pretest and posttest . Moreover, teachers were given sheets of observation of questioning teachnique, records of teaching learning activity, and questionare. Data was analysed descriptivelly and by using regretion-correlation analysis. The results showed that in terms of knowlegde aspect, only 25,53 % of the total teachers had skill to evolve student thinking skill, 2,16 % (cognitive aspect), and 4,32 % (scientific psychomotoric skill). Furthermore, it has been found that the questions were not spread evenly and only 53,33 % of  the total teachers had the capability in improving student thinking skill throught  questions. The techniques were probing (13,33 %) and redirecting (86,67 %). Moreover, the persentage of total teachers who have raised questions in good criteria  was 13,33  and only 1,48 % of the total teachers who had the technique contributing in improvement of student achievement (less correlation).

Abstract

The objective of the study is to evolve student achievement on the concept of spermatophyte diversity through environment-based learning. The study was conducted at MAN Rukoh Banda Aceh by implementing environment-based learning through Pre-test and Pos-test group. The population was students of class X year 2013/2014 consisting of 6 parallel classes. The sample was Class X-1 consisting of 28 students.  Data was analysed persentage and t-test. The results showed that there was significant improvement of students achievement (t-count t-table, or 2,499 2.051).  It can be concluded that there was significant increases in student achievement by implementing environment-based learning on the concept of spermatophyte diversity

Abstract

The study used quatitative approach with comparative study. The aims were to determine the student achievement and learning response as well as the different of student achievemnt  tought by inquiry method with concept maps. The population were students of Class X SMA Negeri 2 Sigli consisting of 227 pupils and  the samples were 35 students (experimental-group class) and 35 students (control-group class). Data of teaching learning type was collected throught observation. interview, and field data whereas student achievement collected by design and presentation of concept map, student worksheets, and final test. Data of student response in using the map was collected by questionnaire. The result showed that the value of t-count t-table for student achievement which was 3,45 1,67 indicating  the method has affected the student achievement. The mean values of student responses were 3,73 (agree category) for positive qustions and 2,27 (uncentain category) for negative questions. It can be concluded that learning learning process on concept of environment throught inquiry method with concept map has increased student achievement and response of students of SMA Negeri 2 Sigli.

Abstract

General ecology is a science that is the basis for environmental science. Good ecological understanding will encourage practices of natural resource management that are environmentally friendly. To achieve these objectives students should be equipped with adequate ecological knowledge. In addition to the learning process in the classroom that is conducive, providing learning support elements, including textbooks, will also ease students in understanding the ecology. This study aimed to evaluate the availability of reference books and textbooks and to identify learning materials characteristics that can assist and facilitate students in learning ecology. The results showed the need for a text book which is in accordance with local conditions and keep updated with the latest developments in the field of ecology.  The book will be the main resource in learning the general ecology.

Abstract

The study has been done to determine the effect of various types of biochar  and consentration of agrodyke fertilizer on the growth of mahoni  seedlings.The  study used  block randomized factorial design which were types of biochar (B) as the first factor, namely: soil + imperata cylindrica charcoal (B1), soil + coconut husk charcoal  (B2), Soil + charcoal of sawdust (B3), and  agrodyke fertilizer concentration as the second factor (A), namely: 0 g polybag-1 (A0), 25 g polybag-1 (A1), 50 g polybag-1 (A2), 75 g polybag-1 (A3) as other factors. Each treatment was replicated three times. The results showed that all types of  biochar  have increased in plant height and number of leaves mahoni seedlings significantly at 40, 60, and 80 days after weaning (DAW). Various concentration of Agrodyke fertilizer have affected  considerably on plant height and number of leaves at 40 and 60  days after weaning (DAW) and root length  at 80 days after weaning (DAW). However, there were no significant effects of types of biochar and various concentration of agrodyke fertilizer on  all parameters. Biochar Soil+Charcoal Sawdust (B3) and 75 g of agrodyke fertilizer polibag-1 (A3)  have produced the best growth rate of mahoni seedlings
