Abstract

Indonesia as the biggest archipelago country and situated in equator is very vulnerable to the adverse effect of climate change. There are two main categories of efforts to handle the issues in climate change; that are how to mitigate it and how to adapt to the change. One of the main culprits of climate change is the emission of carbon gas due to fossil fuel energy utilization contributing 302 million tonnes CO2equivalent.President of the Republic of Indonesia in 2009 in the G-20 Meeting, Pittsburgh, USA, and in 2010 in COP 15 UNFCCC, Copenhagen, Denmark issued the national voluntary target to reduce greenhouse gas emission by year 2020 as much as 26% from business-as-usual by national domestic efforts. This emission reduction will further be improved as much as 41% from business-as-usual by international supports. The Government of Indonesia issued a national action plan to reduce greenhouse gases emission which is enforced by Presidential Regulation No. 61/2011. To achieve this target in energy sector,REFF-Burn (Reducing Emission from Fossil Fuel Burning) concept has been proposed by Sumiarso. Based on REFF-Burn Technology Portfolio, reducing emission from fossil-fuel burning is categorized in three different stages, which are pre-combustion, during combustion and post-combustion. In pre-combustion stage, utilization of clean energy is one of the wise choices. The perspective of the clean energy resources and utilization in Indonesia is discussed in this paper.

Abstract

in this research we examine aspects of the interdependence between economic development and the use of environmental and natural resources assets from global data published by united nations. for that purpose, we use data mining techniques.data mining techniques applied in this paper were: 1) group method of data handling (gmdh), originally from engineering, introducing principles of evolution - inheritance, mutation and selection - for generating a network structure systematically to develop the automatic model, synthesis, and its validation; 2) step wise regression were also applied for some cases.data sets for this research consist of one sets integration data of air quality data and macroeconomic data of the cross-country data of world development indicator 2003 (wdi 2003). the result shows that the mortality rate of children under five years old is dependent on sanitation and water facilities obtained from gmdh results. however, the results from step-wise regression shows that mortality rate was dependent on annual deforestation, particulate matter, nationally protected area, with the big contribution was from annual deforestation.

Abstract

Current research works indicated that parts of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have low to moderate seismic regions. For structural engineers, seismic load should be considered as important aspect that needs to be included in the building design. However Major part of buildings are designed for gravity loading only and poorly detailed to accommodate lateral loads. The purpose of this paper is to investigated gravity supporting building its resistance to expected seismic loading in different regions (Makkah, Jeddah, Gizan and Haql). In this paper, a test RC building that was designed for gravity loading only is investigated. This will be accomplished by performing the nonlinear static analysis (pushover analysis) according to ATC 40. Pushover analysis produces the pushover curves, capacity spectrum, plastic hinges and performance level of the building. This analysis gives better understanding seismic performance of buildings and also traces the progression of damage or failure. The building performance level is determined by intersection of demand and capacity curves and the hinge developed in the beams and the columns. The results show that the test building is found inadequate for Haql region and it still can be considered for Makkah, Jeddah and Gizan.

Abstract

Education value has always been a part of urban development since the age of ancient Greece, Rome, India, and China. It is recognized as the changing factor into a civilization society. Every society in the world has at least the simplest form of education which is at home. Meanwhile many others have been utilizing this value to a greater purpose of the community through the development of education facilities. One of the education facilities that contribute substantially to the development of an urban area is higher education institute or university.According the Brundtland Commission, sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Therefore a sustainable urban generation tool is a feature that is expected to generate the development of an urban area in order to meet the definition above. Sustainable development has many criteria such as economy (growth of annual income), social (growth of public participation and awareness), and the most important, environment (growth of facility/infrastructure and ecological management). Japan as a country which has limited natural resources, has been experiencing aging population and declining on birthrate. Therefore in order to maintain its economic growth, Japan is using its science and technology advantages as its main generator. Meanwhile, it is acknowledged that science and technology are the outcomes of education process. So at the end of the day, education in Japan plays important roles in the development of the economy and the society. This paper aims to acknowledge the importance of education facility as sustainable urban generation tool by studying the development of the economy, social, and environment of the case study area which is the Kitakyushu Science Research and Park in Kitakyushu (Japan).

Abstract

With global awareness of environmental risk and the pressing needs to improve efficiency, manufacturing systems are growing into new concept. Green manufacturing is reflected to employ various green strategies and technique to produce with eco-efficient. Green manufacturing aspects on the machine level were studied in various machining process. On this paper presentsthe green manufacturing review of Rapid Prototyping process. The objective is to evaluate the factors involved in green process of RP.Several comparative RP process respect to green manufacturing criteria are described.Rapid Prototyping process uses three dimensional CAD files to fabricate a physical model. Models are usually made from variety of material such as ABS, rubber and specific metals. Each material has the environment impact during the process and recycling.RP process are known as process not suitable for making direct product. However, lates technology makes it suitableto produce the parts with reasonable cost. For near the future, the utilization of this technology is becoming increasing and green manufacturing effect should be considered.Based on study conducted, several type of RP process is eco-efficient due to amount of waste material produced and environment impact during the process.

Abstract

Increasing the number of private vehicles are not comparable with the growth of public transport vehicles. Though the population of the city has increased rapidly, followed by increasing the amount of movement of people from one place to another. This growing movement should be facilitated by public transport so that traffic is not crowded by private vehicle. Because with more and more use of private vehicles will have an impact on the wasteful use of fuel for motor vehicles, traffic congestion led to wastage of time and cost, as well as environmental pollution. Therefore, the development of public transport in urban areas should be done as soon as possible to address the addition of the urban population, increasing the number of movements of people to move from one place to another, and the increase in the number of private vehicles.

Abstract

The basic definitions of fuzzy independent set, fuzzy dominating set,and fuzzy independent dominating sets are discussed. The aim of this paper is to find on what conditions the fuzzy graph has equal domination number and independent domination number. It is discussed briefly and also when the fuzzy graph is domination perfect is proved. Finally, the independent domination number for a connected fuzzy graph is obtained.

Abstract

Accreditation is one of the forms of external quality guarantee system; it is a process that used in authorized institution in giving formal recognition that an institution has an ability to do certain activity. On the preparation process there are many things have to be done by study program by using internal audit in periodic time. Internal audit is an independence activity, objectivity, and consultatively which is designed to increase the organization’s operation. This study will specifically focus on internal process audits in preparation for accreditation of Study Program of Information Engineering at Bandar Lampung University, through conducting monitoring directly that can be accessed by some units in a management system. The guidelines and standards for internal audit issued by one of several organizations ISO, the quality management system ISO 9001: 2008,  one of the requirements must be fulfilled is conducting periodic internal audits. This standard is good when applied in the preparation for the accreditation process, and accreditation assessment matrix as a guide in conducting internal audits.
