Abstract

The Marginal Land in Indonesia still in very large amount. Meanwhile, the accelerate to rehabilitate the land still very slow. The low of pH, C-Organik, N-Total, P and K-exchangeable become the parameter of marginal land condition. Therefore carried out research which combine acid humic and NPK fertilizer which applied to marginal land and seen its influence to growth of seed of suren. Research has been  done in green house at Faculty Of Agriculture of USU on March-May 2012 using completely randomized factorial design of two factors that is concentration of  humic acid ( 0%, 2.5% and 5%) and dose prular NPK fertilizer ( 0 gr; 1 gr; 2 gr; 3 gr and 4 gr per crop). The parameters observed were height of the plant, diameter of stem, dry wight, wide total of leaf and ratio of root crown. The results of research indicate that the concentration of humic acid do not have an effect on the reality to all of the parameters except to parameter of ratio of root crown. But dosage of  NPK fertilizer have significantly effect to all of the parameters. The combination of the concentration of humic acid and NPK fertilizer do not have an effect on the reality to all parameter. All of the dose of NPK fertilizer  besides control have a different significantly to the growth of the plant. Thereby, using of NPK fertilizer is good to growth of plant on marginal land media. Abstract

Biopulping is environmental technology as pulping alternative technology. The objective of this research was to get involved fungi on dead wood delignification in Taman Hutan Raya Bukit Barisan. Sensus method used in two hectares sample area, then isolation, purify, and identification of fungi. The isolation show there are fourteen fungus involved on wood delignification and with Bavendamm test result show three fungus positive WRP they are Phanerochaetae sp., Trametes sp., Asterostroma sp. Abstract

Effect of salinity on growth and biomass of seedlings and  lipid content at tree of non-secreter C. tagal was studied. The research was conducted in greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture and Pharmaceutical research laboratory, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Sumatra Utara from July 2011 to July 2012. The purpose of the research is to determine the level of growth and biomass C. tagal seedling at different levels of salinities, to analysis the lipid content in the leaves and roots of C. tagal at tree.The mangrove seedlings growing with varied salinities namely 0%, 0,5%, 1,5%, 2% and 3%, quatiplicate. Lipid extraction and analysis performed from leaves and roots of mature trees taken from the mangrove forest Pulau Sembilan, Langkat, North Sumatera.The results showed C. tagal seedling with different levels of salinities effected significantly height, diameter, and biomass. Growth of C. tagal seedling was best at 0,5% salinity with plant height (3,24 cm) and diameter(3,65 mm). Wet weight and dry weight of leaves, roots and stems of C. tagal seedlings had the highest at 1,5% salinity. Total lipids in the leaves and roots of C. tagal trees were of 16,2 mg and 8,9 mg. Abstract

DAPOT PARASIAN SIAGIAN: Type, Potency And Economic Value Result of Exploited Forest result by Society in Tahura Bukit Barisan Range ( Case Study Countryside Dolat Rayat and Countryside Kuta Rayat Sub-Province Karo), guided by Oding Affandi, S.Hut, MP And Ir. Liliek Asmono. Forest products can be divided into two, namely timber and non-timber forest products. Timber forest products are various types of wood and processed. Meanwhile, non-timber forest products are various forms of goods or services obtained from forests than non-timber forest products.  Pursuant to result of interview with responder, type result of exploited by forest society around TAHURA area is Petung bamboo , Tali bamboo, decorative crop, animal, firewood, humus, and tree seed. The biggest Economics value at Countryside Dolat Rayat is decorative crop exploiting equal to 55,1271% and at Kuta Rayat countryside is bamboo exploiting equal to 60.1709%. Whereas contribution result of forest to economic earnings of Countryside Dolat Rayat is 46% economic earnings contribution outside result of forest equal to 54%. And at Countryside Kuta Rayat earnings contribution economic from result of forest equal to 51% while earnings outside result of forest equal to 49 %. Keyword : Tahura, type, potency, contribution

Abstract

ELISA M HUTABARAT: Public Perception Of Various Land Use Landscape Around Tahura Bukit Barisan (Case study: Semangat Gunung Merdeka Village, Merdeka sub-distric, Karo District), guided by ODING AFFANDI and LILIEK P ASMONO. Public Perception Of Various Land Use Landscape Forest is considered very important because of forests have a positive impact on the forest communities economy.. However, the lack of equality between the roles of men and women in perceiving the importance of  forest in Semangat Gunung and Merdeka village associated with different land uses appropriate level of needs. Data collection techniques  was done by using MLA (Multidisciplinary Assessment landcape). Research showed  that  women’s perception is higher than men's perceptions in Semangat Gunung Village on assesment of forest land.  Instead men’s perception is higher than women's perceptions on assessment of forest land in Merdeka Village. Abstract

Studies on restoration program has been implemented in many countries which have mangrove forest. This research was design on perspective community based of Bogak villagers in it’s correction to mangrove degradation and it’s existence  to social, economy and culture.  The  questionnaire was employed to analyze data using quantitative  descriptive method. This research was carried out from June 2011 to March 2012. The aim of research was to study the specific condition of mangrove forest in relation to indigenous people. The result showed that 86.97% of respondents knew very well about mangrove forest, 97.32% of respondents understood the functions of mangrove forest. They were active to response in the restoration program (97.32%) and 83.52% were willing to participate in restoration program. In this study mangrove nursery was useful due to give community a direct example how to restore mangrove well.. Key words: Mangrove restoration, perspective of villagers. restoration program

Abstract

Growth and biomass Rhizopora apiculata BI seedlings under varied salinities and their lipid content at tree stage. The research was conducted at Green house, Faculty of Agriculture and Research Laboratory, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of North Sumatra from August 2011 to July 2012. This study aims to determine the effect of salinity on the growth and biomassa of mangrove non secreter R. apiculata seedlings level and lipid and NSL (Nonsaponifiable Lipids) content at tree level. Five levels of salinities of 0%, 0.5%, 1.5%, 2%, 3% were treated and seedlings were planted for 5 months. The results showed that maximum growth of R. apiculata seedling at 1.5% concentration, leaf number and leaf area were in the salinity of 0.5%. Stem and root biomass achieved in 1.5%, while the leaf biomass in the salinity of 0.5%. The content of total lipid and NSL obtained from the leaves and the roots R. apiculata tree. The content of total lipid R. apiculata trees in the leaves (9.60 mg)  were more amounts than in the roots (6.40 mg). NSL content of R. apiculata trees in the roots (0,226 mg) were more than in the leaves (0.10 mg). The results of this study may provide information to the rehabilitation program in order to obtain R. apiculata seedlings growing best based on their salinities.   Keywords : Mangrove, Rhizopora apiculata, Salinity, Morphology, Content of Lipid and NSL (Non Sapofiniable Lipid)

Abstract

This study described the analyzing of composition and diversity of triterpenoid and phytosterol in North Sumatera mangrove species A. corniculatum as biomarkers and input lipids in to estuarine ecosytem. Phytosterols found  in the  roots and leaves of A. corniculatum were stigmasterol, campesterol, β-sitosterol, and cycloartenol. Taraxerol, β-amyrin, germanicol, betulin, α-amyrin, lopenone and lupeol were the triterpenoids identified. Betulin was the major component triterpenoids had the highest content (31,8%) in the  roots. This research may provide information  the composition of triterpenoid and phytosterol to contribute to estimating the lipid input and as biomarker  from                     A. corniculatum to estuarine ecosytem. Abstract

  This study aims to determine the characterization of isoprenoid compounds in the mangrove A. alba and seedling growth of A. alba at different levels of salinity. The results showed the total lipids in the leaves of A. alba (21 mg) was higher than that in the roots (11,7 mg). Total Non Saponifiable Lipids (NSL) content in the leaves of A. alba (1,1 mg) greater than that in the roots (0,6 mg). NSL composition of A. alba consists of 3 major factions namely triterpenoids, phytosterols, and other compounds. Phytosterol composition in the leaves and roots of A. alba showed the presence of compounds such as campesterol, stigmasterol and β-sitosterol. As frase for the composition triterpenoid found the presence of β-amyrin, germanicol, betulin, lupeol and α-amyrin. Phytol, cholesterol, and squalene were also found as the other compounds. The content of the NSL triterpenoid was higher than phytosterol in the leaves and roots of A. alba. The results also showed that phytol compounds had the highest content of leaves of A. alba (71.4 %) and the β-sitosterol had the highest content of root A. alba (27.8 %). Based on the analysis of the effect of salinity on seedling growth of A. alba showed that the salinity of 2% significantly affected the seedling height and diameter of 3 months of A. alba. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze growth of A. ilicifolius seedling in response to salinities and its isoprenoid composition. The mangrove seedling were grown under different salinities for 5 mounth. The maximum growth of A. ilicifolius seedlings was in 0.5 % salinity and this elevation appeared to be attenuated by increasing of salinity. The results showed the composition of the isoprenoid in  A.ilicifolius  were consist of four phytosterols namely stigmasterol, campesterol, β-sitosterol, cycloartenol, and six triterpenoids : taraxerol, β-amyrin, germanicol, betulin, α-amyrin and lupeol.
