Abstract

This study investigates how business actors' entrepreneurial orientation and rationality affect MSMEs' performance, as well as how the availability of financing affects that performance. Using a random sampling technique, we surveyed 195 MSMEs from various business fields. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling and AMOS and SPSS software. We discovered that the mediation of entrepreneurial orientation and decision-making rationality significantly impacted the relationship between financial availability and performance. Adequate funding encourages an entrepreneurial mindset and the development of innovations that improve overall performance. The study suggests that business actors improve their capabilities, including managerial skills, practices, and procedures in the financial sector. When adequate funds are available, they could be used to improve performance. The study adds to the dynamic capability theory by demonstrating that MSMEs must be able to integrate, construct, and reconfigure their financial resources in the face of rapid environmental changes.

Abstract

This study examines the comparison of stock performance as measured using the return and risk of stock portfolios of ethical and non-ethical companies on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Portfolio formation using a single index model during 2016-2019. The data analysis technique uses an independent sample t-test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that there were no differences in portfolio return and risk. The average portfolio return is 0.22% for ethical stocks and 0.27% for non-ethical stocks. There is also no significant difference in portfolio risk, 0.87% for ethical stock portfolios and 0.99% for non-ethical stocks. This research has implications for investors who are interested in ethical stocks where they don't have to worry about high portfolio risk and low returns because the results show that the SRI KEHATI index stock portfolio provides the same level of risk and return as the LQ45 index stock portfolio.

Abstract

This study aims to explore internal audit quality in Indonesia, especially in the public sector. The researcher used a systematic literature review method to synthesize the research results conducted over the past seven years between 2016 and 2022. This study found that most internal audit quality is only output-oriented, primarily influenced by compliance driver variables. The most researched variables are independence and competence. It also adopts attribution theory. However, the kaizen philosophy perspective assesses quality based on the demand-based driver. Finally, this study proposes a conceptual model for developing internal audit quality and future research that should be conducted based on outcomes using a qualitative approach.

Abstract

AbstractCurrent studies of market use social science theories and offer new theoretical approaches. This article discusses the latest theories and approaches to analyze the market. This research was conducted with semi-systemic literature review approach. The data is obtained through searching the published article in online scientific journals related to the market. Data analysis was carried out by thematically categorizing the finding and the presented descriptively. The results found two categories of approaches in the study of markets, namely Structural and Performative (consisted of institutional, network, cultural and normative approaches), and an integrative approach (consisted of integration of social forces and neo-institutionalism in sociology). This paper argues that current theories tend to analyze the market towards stability than dynamics, and the market system than the marketplace. Therefore, this paper purpose a suitable theoretical approach to understand market stability, dynamics and the market as a market place and a market system simultaneously. Keywords:Market Place, Market System, Economic Sociology, Sociology of Market

Abstract

AbstractThis study analyses International Public Sector Accounting Standards' effects on the integrity of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) tax payment compliance. This study uses a cross-sectional survey design based on primary data from a questionnaire administration. The sample size is three hundred and nine SMEs. This study employs Descriptive, Pearson Correlation and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA) statistical analysis. Findings show that among the tax payment compliance impeding factors are the government's inability to satisfy SMEs in service delivery improvement and developmental goal promise actualisation. SMEs' resistance to pay tax results from a flawed tax dispute resolution system at a severe mitigating significant level. The governance responsiveness through IPSASs attributes dissension contradicts John Locke's social contract doctrine of civil society rights and benefits.  Hence, this study recommends that officeholders should enhance the SMEs' tax payment compliance level. Public officers' approach to governance should reduce taxpayers' exploitation for self-aggrandisement.  Keywords:Tax payment compliance, Integrity, International Public Sector Accounting Standards, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government Responsiveness

Abstract

AbstractThere are differences in the choice of cooking fuel in Indonesian households. Some households still not yet used clean fuel for daily cooking, even though clean energy is crucial and included in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study examines the influence of several factors on household's cooking fuel choice using SUSENAS data. This study is based on conceptual framework and theory on several determinant factors, including income, education level of the household head, and energy prices. The testing of the hypothesis used the probit methods. In the estimation results obtained, socioeconomic and demographic factors, namely income, education level of the household head, location of the household in urban areas, positively and significantly impacts the decision to choose clean fuel for cooking. Meanwhile, the price of clean fuel types such as LPG and city gas negatively and significantly impacts the decision to choose clean fuels for cooking in Indonesian households. Keywords: Demographic Factors; Socioeconomics Factors, Energy Prices; Cooking Fuel Choice, Probit

Abstract

AbstractMerauke is projected to be the rice barn in Eastern part of Indonesia. Many programmes are implemented to improve rice production. This study was conducted to figure out the number of distribution channels for rice marketing, to find out the efficient rice marketing actor, to recognise the smooth flow of product, money, and information on distribution of rice supply chain. The study was carried out in Merauke, i.e., districts of Semangga and Tanah Miring. Rice traders were sampled using the snowball technique, the initial point of farmers with 239 respondents. The results showed that there were four distribution channels of rice in Merauke. The most efficient rice marketing actor was the rice mill selling its product to Bulog partners. The pattern of the distribution of rice supply chain describing the flow of product, money and information was basically smooth, however, there was an unsmooth part in details. Keywords:Distribution, Marketing, Rice, Supply Chain

Abstract

AbstractThe plantation sector is a sector that has an important and strategic role in development. This is reflected in the role of the plantation sector as a provider of employment opportunities, meeting the domestic industry's needs for consumption and raw materials and achieving added value through increased competitiveness. This study aims to analyze the effect of the real exchange rate and volatility on Indonesia's leading plantation export commodities to trade partner countries from 1997 to 2016. The research method used is the estimated gravity model with fixed or random effects. The results showed that the exchange rate and volatility positively and negatively affected plantation exports. Thus, the Government must adopt policies to increase the competitiveness of domestic products and anticipate competition between domestic exporters. In addition, exchange rate stabilization policies are needed to control volatility to reduce uncertainty's impact on Indonesia's plantation exports. Keywords: Exchange Rate, Leading Estate Crops, Export, Panel Data, Gravity Model

Abstract

AbstractThis research is motivated by the low business sustainability of MSMEs in West Java. In MSMEs, human resources play an important role in the development of MSME businesses. This study aims to determine the effect of sustainable commitment and competencies on the business sustainability of MSMEs. This research was conducted using a quantitative approach with a survey method of 209 fish processing business owners in West Java. Data collection was carried out by survey using a questionnaire instrument. Data analysis was performed with AMOS SEM. The results of this study reveal that the best business sustainability is in the social sustainability dimension and the lowest is economic sustainability. Sustainable commitment is mainly shown by a high commitment to reduce energy use, while sustainable competencies are shown by a better ability to motivate workers and collaborate with similar businesses. In addition, sustainable commitments and sustainable competencies affect business sustainability. Keywords: Business, Sustainability, Competencies, Commitment, Green
