Factum: Jurnal Sejarah dan Pendidikan Sejarah promotes research in the broad field of history and Education with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region. Contributions are expected from historian, educator, teacher, senior researchers, project managers, research administrators and PhD students at advanced stages of their research, representing both public organizations and private industry. Equally, the journal if intended for scholars and students, reseachers working at research organizations and government agencies, and also for enterprises undertaking applied R&D to lead innovations. The editorial contents and elements that comprise the journal include: Theoretical articles Empirical studies Practice-oriented papers Case studies Review of papers, books, and resources. As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, an initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style. The below mentioned areas are just indicative. The editorial board also welcomes innovative articles that redefine any history and history education field. Abstract

Research’s background in this study was to investigate Indonesia’s Special Forces formation and military operation conducted by Indonesia Special Forces. After the Proclamation of Independence. Indonesia had no official military forces. At that time, military forces were derived from former independence fighters with a non-formal organization. Indonesia absolutely needed the military forces since the country encountered an attempts of disintegration namely rebellion in many provinces. After military forces established, Indonesia apparently could not overcome the domestic issue, therefore it was very essential to form Special Forces that could conduct military operation more effectively and efficiently. Problem formulation in this research is “how was the role of Sandhi Yudha Forces Command in conducting a military operation in Indonesia from 1971 to 1985?”. The study used the historical method, with four research procedure that are heuristic, critic, interpretation, and historiography. Moreover, literature study by analysed relevant sources was applied. The study research revealed, Firstly, Indonesia’s Special Forces was formed owing to the needs of a military operation in coping rebellions after Indonesia’s independence. Secondly, after the formation, Indonesia’s Special Forces has undergone numbers of re-organization that aim to improve the needs and system organization. These act as an effect from the development of forces and country ability in funding Special Forces' institution. Thirdly, after re-organization process between 1971 to 1985, Indonesia’s Special Forces has conducted numbers of combat and non-combat military operations, such as Valey X Expedition in West Irian, the quell of Communist Group in West Kalimantan and Hostages' Rescuing Operation of Garuda Airline DC-9-WOYLA in Don Muang Airport, Thailand

Abstract

This research entitled “The Action of Sarwo Edhie Wibowo in Maintaining Stability of Indonesia National Security (1965-1989)”. The Main problem in this research is “How was Sarwo Edhie Wibowo’s Action in Maintaining Indonesian National Security (1965-1989)”. The Research methodology used in this research is historical method through many steps such as heuristic, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. The researcher used interdisciplinary approaches through sociology and politic study. Sarwo Edhie Wibowo’s position as Commander of The Command of The Army Regiment (RPKAD) was most attracted era. Based on the command of PANGKOSTRAD Major General Soeharto, Sarwo Edhie succeeded to overcome coup of 30th September Movement. Entering New Order era, Sarwo Edhie officiated as Pangdam II/Bukit Barisan and helped in PNI stopping operation in North Andalas and then became Pangdam XVII/Cendrawasih. As Pangdam XVII/Cendrawasih, Sarwo Edhie had a role in succeeding PEPERA execution. In the end of his career, Sarwo Edhie became Governor of AKABRI, ambassador in South Korea, Head of BP7, and last as member of DPR/MPR. Until the end, he was retired and passed away at 10th November 1989.

Abstract

This thesis entitled The Relationship Between Teacher Competence with Learning Outcomes On History Lesson In Bandung Senior High School. Background research on this variable appears as a form of interest the authors of the implementation of the Teacher Competency Test (UKG) 2015 years ago. The main issues discussed in this essay is 'Is there a connection between the competence of teachers to student learning outcomes in the subjects of history in Bandung Senior High School?'. The method used in this thesis is descriptive analysis method through correlational studies is to study the relationship between two variables, the competency of teachers (X) with the learning outcomes (Y). Data were obtained from questionnaires and documentation study. Subjects in this study is a history teacher and student of Senior High School in Bandung into the sample. Then the data is processed by using the Pearson product moment formula. The results showed that from the processing of these data it is concluded that the value of the correlation coefficient (r xy) of -0.377 * while r table at 0,361 at N = 30, with a significance level of 5%. This means that the value is greater than r rxy table (0.377 * 0.361). Then H0 rejected and Ha accepted which states that there is a relationship between the competence of teachers to student learning outcomes in the subjects of history in Bandung Senior High School. Only the results of which showed negative values are marked with a dash (-). That is the direction do the opposite direction, or it can be said better history teacher competence, the lower the students' learning outcomes.

Abstract

This bachelor thesis titled “The political role of Javanese Ethnic in Suriname (1991- 2015), the main issues raised in this research is “How was the political role of Javanese ethnic in Suriname 1991- 2015?”. The main problem in this thesis divided into four questions, namely: (1) Why did Javanese Ethnic interested in Suriname’s politics? (2) How was the political development in Suriname in 1991- 2015? (3) How was the contribution of Javanese ethnic in Suriname in 1991-2015? (4) How was the impact of the political role of Javanese ethnic in Suriname in 1991- 2015? (3). That four questions become the basic and the main problem in this research. This research uses the historical method includes the four steps in it, such as heuristic, critic, interpretations and historiography. Meanwhile, the data collection techniques that used in this research is  literature studies, by examining the sources that relevant with the problems in this research. The approach in this research using interdisciplinary approaches by using the concept of politics, anthropology and sociology. The politics concepts that used is political party and government. The concept used from anthropology is ethnic, and the concepts from sociology is social mobility and adaptation theory. The main content of this research is the role of Javanese ethnic as newcomers in politics in Suriname. This research explains that the existence of discrimination policy by the Suriname’s special autonomy government against Javanese Ethnic who were reputed as the newcomers that made them joined politics in Suriname by establishing Javanese parties, entering the government and parliament, so that giving the impact for the Javanese ethnic on the modern era, there are many important political figures in  Suriname who served as the head of parliament, prime minister and the candidate of Suriname’s president.

Abstract

Korea Selatan merupakan negara yang menarik untuk ditelusuri lebih jauh, tidak hanya mengenai budayanya namun juga pada aspek pendidikannya. Perkembangan pendidikan di Korea Selatan dapat terlaksana dengan baik dikarenakan pembaharuan-pembaharuan pendidikan yang ‘rajin’ dilakukan oleh pemerintah guna menjawab tantangan zaman yang kian beragam. Sejarah panjang mengenai sejarah pendidikan di Korea Selatan yang menarik minat penulis untuk mengkaji seberapa besar dampak dari pembaharuan pendidikan terhadap kemajuan pendidikan nasional. Pada tahun 1999 pemerintah mengeluarkan Program Brain Korea 21st Project sebagai salah satu program ambisius pemerintah untuk meningkatkan daya kompetitif bangsa Korea. Masalah utama yang diangkat adalah “bagaimana penerapan Progam Brain Korea 21st Project dan dampaknya bagi Korea Selatan tahun 1999-2005?”. Guna menguraikan permasalahan tersebut, penulis menelitinya dengan metode historis dan teknik penelitiannya menggunakan studi literatur melalui kajian buku dan jurnal-jurnal yang berkaitan dengan bahan penelitian. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan, Pertama Program Brain Korea 21st Project yang diimplementasikan oleh pemerintah pada tahun 1999 merupakan proyek pemerintah yang dicanangkan selama tujuh tahun (1999-2005) dengan berbagai tujuannya, dan berdampak pada aspek sosial dan budaya yakni kesetaraan gender yang selama ini menjadi isu di Korea Selatan serta semakin tingginya kasus bunuh diri dan munculnya kesenjangan sosial antara para Professor di tingkat Universitas. Kedua, dampak yang dirasakan dalam aspek ekonomi ialah menarik kembali sejumlah investor asing setelah diterapkannya Program Brain Korea 21st Project.

Abstract

Ideally, the students’ goal in carrying out the activities of learning is to obtain behavioural change. But it was contradictory wherein the reality found during observations in Grade XI IPS C. During learning History takes place, students were doing activities that improper with the learning agenda. The cause as the use of learning methods thatirrelevant to each student’s character. Based on the results’ observations, the author realized the proper method for students of Grade XI IPS C is Role Playing. Therefore the author conducted a classroom action research with the research formulation “Howto apply the Role Playing method in learning History to improve directed learning activities for students of Grade XI IPS C in MAN I Bandung?” This Classroom Action Research (CAR) based on Kemmis Taggart design. In this design, CAR is carried out in several cycles which are divided into 4 (four) stages namely: Planning, Action,Observation and Reflection. After applying the Role Playing method, the author found an increasing towards student learning activities both physically and mentally. Thus it can be concluded that the Role Playing method is strongly effective in directing student activities in learning History.

Abstract

The background of this research arose from the researcher’s concern to the students’ lack of ability to think chronologically in XI IPS 3 classroom. It is identified by their ignorance to temporal structure concept and low ability in demonstrating the concept of continuity and causality. So the aim of this study focuses in improving the students’ chronological thinking ability through the implementation of cooperative learning model picture and picture type. This cooperative learning model picture and picture type allows students to work together in groups to achieve the learning purpose through pictures as its media. Therefore, by using pictures as media in learning avtivities it is aimed to help students reconstructing historical events. The method used in this study is a classroom action research (CAR), the research design is adapted from the work of Kemmis and Mc. Taggart where it consists of several cycle and each includes several phases; planning (plan), implementation (act), observations (Observe) and reflection (Reflect). The data was collected from observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results carried out during the four cycles, it can be concluded that there is a significant increase in the students’ ability to think chronologically. The increase was identified while the implementation of cooperative learning model picture and picture type, the students showed high motivation towards the learning materials, enthusiasm to work together in groups to complete the task, the students become accustomed to write down timeline and the increase of ability to reconstruct events in chronological order. It shows that the implementation of cooperative learning model picture and picture type can improve the students’ ability to think chronologically.

Abstract

The research aimed to have an in-depth study about the development of South China Sea issue that involved countries such as China, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia Brunei Darussalam and the ASEAN’s role as a Regional Organization in that conflict. In general, this study wants to answer the question about “how is ASEAN’s approaches in order to reconcile South China Sea Conflict peacefully?”. To examine the problem, researcher conducted a study by using historical method that includes four research steps namely collecting of written source through literature study (heuristics), source criticism, interpretation or source analysis and historiography. Researcher also using concepts to simplify the analysis, of which are a regional organization concept, a concept of interest, an international dispute concept, a conflict concept, diplomatic concept, and the law of the sea concept. A rationalisation for this South China Sea study, because the issue remains dynamic and it is difficult to find a solution. Many perspectives regarding claims that were made by countries around the South China Sea and the potentials aspects that embedded could disrupt peace and stability in the region’s security. These issues become challenging for ASEAN. The resulting study found that: there are numbers of a mechanism such as an informal, semi-formal and formal mechanism. However, those mechanisms have not been able to resolve the conflict. Several efforts have been made to prevent military conflicts. In its development, the South China conflict has shown a more positive progress.

Abstract

The local historical event that occurred in Bandung Regency under R. E. Soeriapoetra during the revolution era was in a state of a refugee. This was due to attacks carried out by the Dutch who wanted to return to control Indonesia. In general, this study wants to answer the question about “How was Raden Toemoenggoeng Endoeng Soeriapoetra administered of his government amid the political crisis post-independence?”. This research aimed to analyze the local government under R.T.E. Soeriapoetra in Bandung Regency. To discuss the study, the researcher conducted a study using historicalmethods that include heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. Based on the results it can be explained that even though the administration under R.T.E. Soeriapoetra’s leadership was unstable, the local government still ran due to good communication and cooperation between the leaders, subordinates and the people. The undertaken program was only related to the government’s situation at that time such as making roads, repairing roads and supplying food, clothing for the fighters and also the people because at that time the process of government is in a state of a refugee. So that in his leadership as Regent of Bandung not many programs were made. He also served as Regent of Bandung in a short time which is only two years, starting from 1945-1947, because caught by the Dutch. He was also offered to become regent again under Pasundan State but he refused. He chose to be detained rather thanhaving to cooperate with the Dutch.

Abstract

This article entitled “The Development of Angklung Gubrag from Ritual Tradition to Entertainment. The main problem of this article is how the development of Angklung Gubrag art in Kecamatan Cigudeg, Kabupaten Bogor since 1983-2013. This research has target to describe the backround of the beginning of Angklung Gubrag arts, the development of Angklung Gubrag arts, the efforts of artist do to converst this art, and the efforts of government to push and keep the art of Angklung Gubrag. The method which used in this research is historical method which consist of heuristic, critics, interpretation, and historiography. Angklung Gubrag is one of the art which comes from Kecamatan Cigudeg Kabupaten Bogor. Arts of Angklung Gubrag growth on society that has system of animism and dinamism. Firstly, it is shown as ritual media on the ceremony of Seren Taun which held to respect Nyi Pohaci. As tradisional arts, it was handed down from one generation to the other, and it has changing a lot. It is caused by changing of thinking society and their believed. After 1983, the artist who come from Padepokan Seni Angklung Gubrag change the tradition of Seren Taun. The purpose of this changed was to make society receive this art again. So that, the Angklung Gubrag art is also changing to be an entertainment. These development gives the changes in instrument, dance, and song to estetic of the Angklung Gubrag show. Beside the artist, the goverment is also act as supporter and protector of Angklung Gubrag art.
