Abstract

Tube is a component of a heat exchanger tube is usually in the form of a small circle section pipe. But do not rule out the possibility of tube using a pipe that is not circle section  for example an elliptical section  to aims pressure as small as possible, because of the pressure resistor is small, the resulting pressure drop means smaller. Pipes used are a modification AW wavin pipe with an outside diameter of 6 cm into the elliptical section pipe with a ratio of 0.8. Tests carried out in Test engine Subsonic Wind Tunnel Section 40, two pipe by measuring angles and two more be used to measure variations in the distance between the pipes. From the test results obtained by the value of the pressure difference (ΔP) and temperature (°C), the value obtained is inserted into the equation calculation in order to get the coefficient of pressure (CP) getting bigger, but the speed (U) and the pressure coefficient resistor (CDP) smaller as increasing the distance between the pipes.

Abstract

Machining process to produce plastic deformation on the workpiece. Plastic deformation during the machining process are formed by friction against the cutting tools to workpieces generate furious. During the deformation process appearance residual stress on the surface which can affect the fatigue resistance, fracture strength, and corrosion. Failure in the component structure is not only due to external forces, residual stress is an important parameter in this case. The purpose of this study to analyze the residual stresses that occur on the workpiece from turning process. In the analysis performed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) with the software to obtain the desired results by entering input data including modeling of cutting tools and the workpiece. The result is a visual overview of the residual stress in the workpiece and areas of plastically deformed as a result of feeding from the cutting tools motion. 2D visual modeling using the software Ansys 12.1 with three comparison rake angle 50, 100.150 to determine the result of the residual stress on the surface of the workpiece.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the impact strength of composite structures of sengon laut sawdust. Experimental results show that the impact toughness of sandwich composite will increase as the thickness of composite sandwich skin increases. The impact failure is due mostly to the shear failure of the core. Brittle specimen failure occurs on the sandwich composites structured with skin and core manufactured with the same thickness of 5 mm. This brittle sandwich composite has a flat cross section on both sides of the fault. The shear failure of the cores occurs in samples with 2 mm thick, 3 mm, 4 mm thick, and 10 mm thick core. In some samples, the shear failure of the cores is accompanied by cracks on the core so that the sandwich composite is broken in several parts. The highest value of absorption energy and the highest impact strength is found on thick composite sandwich variation of 10 mm thick with 4 mm thickness of 2,7860 J and 0,01032 J/mm2.
