Abstract

Leaf spring represent one of suspension systems found on vehicle, and functioning as vibration silencer, at the same time as vehicle construct. Effect of modification by pressing, leaf spring function accepting a repeating dynamic load, will experience of damage effect of fatigue which emerge after the component experience its function. Intention of this research is to analysis effective stress - strain that happened at leaf spring structure effect of pressing modification. From result of stress analysis, in the leaf spring which have natural pressing, have an increasing of maximum stress, that is from 1.09361 x 108 N/m2 become 1.12632 x 108 N/m2, or have degradation of strength equal to 3%. This matter can cause possibility to the happening of broken at leaf spring after pressed is bigger comparing to before pressed.

Abstract

In order to operated at field which vary, ATV ( All Terrain Vehicle) designed to have ability to maneuver which is supported with strong and light frame construction, taft machine and also adequate suspension system. Almost similar to car, ATV have applied suspension independent. The target of this research is to know anti-roll bar appliance installation influence at front suspension system of ATV Z200 to behavioral reduction of roll body, when vehicle in a condition curve (cornering). Analysis roll body conducted by using transfer analysis method with visual MSC software of Nastran 2004Result of this analysis will give reduction graph of roll body angle to speed of vehicle (10,20 and 30 km/hour) as function of displacement vertical from appliance lever arm anti bar roll. This angle is measured from vertical line with straightening of road to a line through a center of mass (center of gravity or shortened, CG) w. Which is vertical with frame. Result of this research showing that by equipment of anti bar roll, behavioral of roll from body vehicle of ATV Z200 when curve can decrease, that is equal to 17,925 % for the speed of 10 km/hour, 13,924 % for the speed of 20 km/hour, and 9,485 % for the speed of 30 km/hour.

Abstract

Lenght of fluidity is one of important factor that give influence on thin wall casting. The increasing lenght of fluidity will increase feeding ability molten metal. At the thin wall mould, the cooling rate temperature move rapidly and then increasing solidification rate cast metal. The aim of the research is studiying optimal mould temperature on Mg-44%Al casting process. Gravity methode is used as this casting. The mould was made by machining process. Molten metal was pouring on 650oC, 700 oC and 750 oC into difference mould temperature (650oC, 700oC and 750 oC). The mould has difference thickness 0,5 mm; 1mm; 1,5 mm; 2 mm; 2,5 mm; 3 mm; 3,5 mm;dan 4 mm. The maximum length of fluidity at mould temperature 200oC on pouring temperature 700oC. Each of mould temperature, Increasing lenght of fluidity untill mould temprature 650oC and 700oC but decreasing lenght of fluidity after pouring temperatur 750oC, at all difference mould temperatures.

Abstract

This research is aim to analyze the effect of quench at difference medium on the hardness and the impact of HQ 705 steel which is as similar as AISI 4340 with 0.38 – 0.43% C; 1.82% Ni; 0.5% - 0.8% Cr and 0,25% Mo. HQ 705 steel is heated to austenite temperature of 8500 C and hold as long as 15 minutes and cooled at the difference mediums, which is water, ice and oil. After that, the steels being tempered at temperature of 5500 C and hold as long as 30 minutes, and then again cooled. Finally, the specimens are tested to find hardness, toughness and microstructure. Through this research, we find the increase of hardness, from 33.4 HRC at no treatment to 56 HRC at cooling in water, 40.3 HRC at cooling in oil.
