Abstract

The findings of the research are the tarbiyah curriculum journey grouped into eight stages of curriculum development. Starting from the embryo curriculum in 1961, this is the first stage as a curriculum based on the main points of the Pancasila Education System. The second stage of the curriculum, which contains prioritising the mastery of science and technology, has not been focused on formulating its abilities. In the third stage, the paradigm shift to the concept of competency-based curriculum. The college itself developed the fourth stage of the curriculum. The fifth stage is the university curriculum is developed and implemented based on competency for each study program. Sixth, the curriculum of learning achievement is adjusted to the level of KKNI. The seventh stage, the competence of graduates, is determined by referring to KKNI. In the eighth stage, the higher education curriculum contains an equal quality of learning outcomes. Find curriculum design concepts for tarbiyah in the future. Where the eight components of the curriculum concept are Competence Achievement, Continuous Improvement, Functional for users, Adaptable to the social community, Sharing on core values of UIN, Build real scientist. This is all to answer the challenges of developing the tarbiyah curriculum in the future.

Abstract

Critical thinking of students is needed in 21st century learning, the fact is the acquisition in the field is still low. Therefore this study aims to improve students' critical thinking skills using the inquiry model assisted with the ethnoconstructivism module. Methodology uses a quantitative design of a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design with a total sample of 64 students taken by purposive sampling technique. There were significant differences in terms of students' critical thinking between the control class and the experimental class. It can be underlined that the inquiry model with ethnoconstructivism has a significant influence on the way students think about cultural values compared to traditional groups.

Abstract

The function of English as the international language that connects various countries with different languages makes English as an important communication tool to be learned and taught for students from various levels of education as the provision to face the current era of globalization. The chain story technique that implemented in this research, is a technique that is suitable to be used to teach students who have not dared to actively use English. This technique helps students of Imanuel YPK Vocational High School, Sorong City to work as a team and help each other to construct the sentence. This study was designed in the form of Classroom Action Research (CAR). The method of this research is a qualitative and quantitative method. The qualitative to explain the condition before and after the action. The quantitative to count the score of the students. As for the subject in this research is the Class X Automation and Office Management. This is done in order to obtain valid and reliable research data. Data collection techniques used were observation, test and interview. Results of the study showed that: (1) Based on the observation, the students are changed to be more brave and confident to speak English; (2) Based on the test, there is a very significant change towards the positive, when compared to the value of very good and good in cycle 1 which is 42% while in cycle 2 is 80%, so there is an increase of 38%; (3) Based on the interview, the students were happy and giving the good responses about the treatment and the progress they have done

Abstract

Nature bestowed humans with emotions. Emotions are significant predictors of anyone’s success. Now Emotional Intelligence is an established phenomenon is under eye of researcher and psychologist. The objectives of this study were (i) to explore the level of Emotional Intelligence of University’s students. (ii) to find ouu the difference between Emotional Intelligence on the basis of gender, locality, level of course and School of study. This survey based study used data from 200 students of Central University of South Bihar, Gaya, India. Results indicated that all university’s students were having high level of emotional intelligence. Result indicates that all students of School of Education have emotional Intelligence of high level except in comparison of students of School of Law and Governance. Male and female students are significantly differed from each other on Emotional Intelligence on overall sample. Female students found more Emotional Intelligent with high mean value. UG and PG students of were found not significantly differ from each other on Emotional intelligence. UG students were more emotionally intelligent on the basis of mean value. Residential location does not have any significant role but rural students were more emotionally intelligent in comparison to their counterpart.

Abstract

Etnososial is learning that integrates culture and local wisdom into social learning. Indonesia is very rich with a variety of cultures and local wisdom. These cultural values and local wisdom must be used by the teacher as a material and source of learning. So from that, the purpose of this study is to know the ethnosocial knowledge of elementary school teachers and the obstacles in applying it. This research uses quantitative design with survey research design. This study used 30 teachers as respondents. The instruments used were questionnaires and interviews. The results of this study are about the knowledge of ethno-social elementary school teachers in Indonesia in good condition. It is known that the ethno-social knowledge of teachers in Bajubang District is 6.7% included in the very bad category. While 30.0% are in a bad category, 43.3% are in a good category and 20.0% are in the very good category. The teacher applies ethno-social knowledge through various methods, learning strategies, using simple learning media and using the environment as a learning resource. While the obstacles faced by teachers are the ability of different students, media and learning resources that are lacking, lack of knowledge and experience of ethno-social teachers.

Abstract

Vocabulary learning is an integral part of foreign language learning. The meaning of new words is very often emphasised, both in books and in verbal communication. Vocabulary is considered a centre of language teaching and is very important for language learners. This study found a daily code-mixing strategy in learning English vocabulary in the second grade of secondary school. The method used is qualitative and quantitative. The research phase includes pre-test and post-test, questionnaire and interview. The findings show that there is an influence on the level of student skills in using the strategy. Furthermore, it also found that students with higher vocabulary levels tended to take lessons in class interactively, this became fun, and students could motivate themselves they usually succeeded in learning by asking, monitoring and evaluating their learning habits. The findings also show that students with low vocabulary levels tend to choose to ignore direction and lack of participation, which means that they do not care about the course of the teacher and still carry unfavourable habits in the classroom. The findings of this study contribute to the further development of existing code-mixing theory and about vocabulary students and strategies. This study refers to giving benefits to classroom practice in the Indonesian context, specifically in increasing EFL teacher awareness so as not to focus solely on existing strategies, but rather look at the phenomena that occur around to create new strategies in teaching English.

Abstract

This study investigates the prevalence and determinants of sexting behaviour among undergraduates in Kwara State. The population for this study comprised all undergraduates in Kwara State while the target population was undergraduates of three universities in the Kwara States. A stratified sampling the technique was used to categorise universities based on ownership (Federal, State and Private) as well as gender. A random sampling technique was used to select 100 undergraduates from each university, totaling 300 respondents. A researcher-designed questionnaire titled Prevalence and Determinants of Sexting Behaviour Questionnaire (PASODOEBEQ) was used to elicit information from sampled respondents. The instrument was validated by experts in Sociology of Education and Educational Psychology. Test re-test method of reliability was applied to test the reliability of the instrument, using the Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistics. The coefficient value of 0.86r was derived. The data collected were analyzed using percentage, mean, standard deviation and Multiple Regression Statistical Tool. The result of the findings revealed that sexting behaviour is prevalent among undergraduates and low self-esteem and peer association are significant determinants. The study recommended among others that schools authorities as a matter of fact should organize a sensitization workshop or seminar for undergraduates on the meaning, ripple effects and the punishment associated with sexting behaviour for necessary social adjustment.

Abstract

Anxiety becomes one of the psychological symptoms that can appear in every student while solving mathematics problems. Anxiety cannot be denied to be one factor that affects students’ learning outcomes and interest in mathematics. Therefore, teachers should concern on this matter in order to decide the appropriate learning strategy. However, there is no instrument to measure the level of students’ anxiety towards mathematics, especially for junior high school students. For that reason, this research aims to: 1) design the construct of math anxiety scale instrument, 2) find out the validity of the instrument. This research used Research and Development method to develop and validate the product which is in the form of a questionnaire. The analysis techniques used V Aiken for content validity, EFA for construct validity, and Cronbach’s Alpha for the reliability. The results of this research showed that the instrument was valid and reliable because it met the criteria for validity and reliability. In conclusion, the instrument is valid to measure the junior high school students’ math anxiety level.

Abstract

The previous research result showed that the learning model based on the investigation could increase the students’ critical thinking skills. The aim of this research was to measure the effectiveness of the using of problem-based learning model to increase the students’ critical thinking skills. The research design was quasi-experiment by using post-test only design. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of science which contained 124 students of SMAN 6 and SMAN 7 Kupang that were chosen randomly. The treatment that was given in this research was problem-based learning model for the experiment class and conventional model for the control class whereas the given materials were the reaction rate. The instrument that was used in this research previously validated by two experts of theory and material. The result of this research showed that the students who studied in experiment class had different critical thinking skills better that the students who studied using conventional model.

Abstract

Multicultural education in a diverse cultural society is one of the important aspects to be addressed in order that it is not viewed as a threat in the current era of education 4.0. This researchaims at examining the implementation of multicultural education in German language learning, especially in the Aufbaustufe A2 course. The samples of this research were second semester students of class A in the Study Program of German Language Educationwith the total of 20 students. The instruments used in this research were questionnaires, interviews and document review. The data of the results of the questionnaire, interviews, and document review were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. The results of this research show that students are aware of their existence and also the existence of other students who have different cultural backgrounds. In addition, they respect their own culture even though they are also open to learning and understanding German culture.
