The journal publishes writings on (1) historiography, (2) philosophy of history, (3) history of education, and (4) history educaiton. Historiography means the writing of history based on the critical examination of sources, the selection of particular details from the authentic materials in those sources, and the synthesis of those details into a narrative that stands the test of critical examination. Historiography studies cover chronologically various themes, such as local history, social history, cultural history, economic history, political history, military history, intellectual history, environmental history, and other historical studies. Philosophy of history, the study either of the historical process and its development or of the methods used by historians to understand their material. History of education is a study of the past that focuses on educational issues. These include education systems, institutions, theories, themes and other related phenomena in the past. History education includes studies of how history teaches in school or society, curriculum, educational values in events, figures, and historical heritage, media and sources of historical learning, history teachers, and studies of textbooks.

Abstract

The offering known as caru or macaru is still done in Bali. This macaru in Bali is actually blood sacrifice offered to the lords of the demonds (bebutan or butabala) before the Balinese doing a special ritual for instance the Nyepi ceremony. The most important caru is called “caru mancasanak”, they sacrifice animals and other ingredients. The word caru is known in Old-Javanese inscriptions and Old-Javanese/Middle-Javanese texts among others are the Adiparwa, Rāmāyana, Sutasoma, Korawasrama, Calon Arang. However no special explanation on the meaning of the word caru and its rituals.   Keywords: pūjā caru, ambhūtayajña, buburpēhan, pindapitryājña, kunda, homayajña, skul-dinyun.   Korban yang dikenal sebagai caru atau macaru masih dilakukan di Bali. Hal ini macaru di Bali sebenarnya darah pengorbanan yang ditawarkan kepada raja butha (bebutan atau butabala) sebelum Bali melakukan ritual khusus misalnya upacara Nyepi. Yang paling penting adalah caru disebut "caru mancasanak", mereka mengorbankan hewan dan bahan lainnya. Kata caru dikenal di prasasti Jawa kuno dan karya sastra Jawa Kuno/Jawa Tengah antara lain adalah Adiparwa, Ramayana, Sutasoma, Korawasrama, Calon Arang. Namun tidak ada penjelasan khusus arti kata caru dan ritualnya. kata kunci: pūjā caru, ambhūtayajña, buburpēhan, pindapitryājña, Kunda, homayajña, skul-dinyun.

Abstract

Controversial history learning has not been implemented optimally so that critical thinking skills of students is still low. This is evidenced by the low ability of students’ critical thinking of class XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Tuntang in controversial history learning. This type of research is the Classroom Action Research with phase of activity which consists of two cycles. Research data obtained by using interviews, questionnaires and observation with the observation sheet and through evaluation tests. Data analysis techniques is done before, during and after learning. The Point of analysis is students critical thinking ability when learning, and critical abilities of students in work on the problems of evaluation. The results showed that through the methods of teaching history in a controversial debate, there is a discernable increase of critical thinking skills of students class XI IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Tuntang. Observations during the learning process showed that students eager to follow learning through debate because the debate is something new for students. Abstract

This research is conducted in the community of Kudus Kulon and High Schools in Kudus. Data collection techniques used in this research are in-depth interviews, observation, and content analysis. Data validation is triangulation of data and triangulation of method. Analysis of data is done through an interactive analysis with the three stages of analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusion that interact with the data collection cycle. The results showed that: (1) Teacher implemented inheritance of value through formal history learning, but the result shows it is no more optimal because of time allocation problem; (2) Inheritance of value in informal history learning occurs through folklore which is told in the family and society as a religious ritual events, (3) Continuity history learning through formal and informal channels occurs because of mutually reinforce relationship that makes the efforts of inheritance so the maximum value of local history   Key words: local history, inheritance of value, formal and informal education, kudus kulon

Abstract

Banyumas culture can be used as a source of learning for junior high students in the region Banyumas. In addition to contributing significantly to the maintenance and preservation of local culture as an integral part of national culture, learning the IPS will be more meaningful for students. Banyumas have the kinds of art, unique cultural traditions, and historical sites with very high philosophical and educational value.The types of art, tradition and history as a component or element of Banyumas Culture which is prominent and important to be appointed are: History of Banyumas, Tradition of Banyumas, Arts and Heritage of Banyumas . Various alternative learning strategies can be chosen and applied social studies teacher in utilizing Banyumas Culture as a source of learning, one of them is, by applying contextual lear-ning model. It is possible to still refer to the applicable curriculum, namely KTSP.   Key words: culture, banyumas, IPS, SMP

Abstract

Textbooks have an important meaning for teachers. Textbooks can serve as a source of learning and teaching history, because in it there is material, illustrations, and a variety of evaluation, so that learning objectives can be achieved in an optimal history. The first selection of textbooks criteria is based on the relevance of the material contained in a text book with the structure of the curriculum. The next criterion is completeness of the material, number of illustrations, and a diverse training and evaluation. In learning history, there are two types of utilization of textbooks, namely the use of textbooks that students already have the book and the use of textbooks to students who do not have. In the schools that their students have no textbooks, textbooks used in a way lent to students. Constraints in the use of textbooks are a relatively expensive price, there is no actually discourse of history, limited number of books, the library utilization is not optimal, and the limited use of information techno-logy of the Internet. These constraints are also factors that hinder the maximum use of textbooks. .   Key words: textbooks, teacher of history, learning history

Abstract

The main problem examined in this study is the extent to which high school students interest in the subjects of history, learning how to develop design, application of learning methods to enhance motivation, and constraints in the teaching of history in the SMA Negeri 2 Temanggung and SMA Institut Indonesia Semarang. This study uses qualitative methods. Informants in the study are history teachers, students and the school. Data collection techniques done with interviews, observation and questionnaire. The results of this study indicate that the interest of students to study history at the SMA Negeri 2 Temanggung is about 40% and in SMA Indonesia Institute Semarang approximately 48%. The teachers in both high school also has developed a learning design that is used in teaching as Learning Implementation Plan, syllabus and other composition which is made in accordance with that determined by the Department of Education and Teachers Council made in Subjects. In addition, teachers in both high school still apply methods of lectures, but also have varied with other teaching methods such as discussion method, instruction method using an interactive CD as well as field trips.   Keywords: Motivation, Learning history

Abstract

The results showed that groups who empowered society are Department of Culture and Tourism is Kudus Regency, Site Conservation Forum Patiayam, interpreters maintained, and the Society of Conservation Society Patiayam Site. Form of empowerment to do is socialize Heritage Law, the socialization of the Master Plan which is equipped with RTBL, to socialize and fossil sites Patiayam, lift the savior maintain Patiayam fossils at the site, and create a mini museum Patiayam site. Studies on community participation suggests that public understanding of the importance of the Patiayam as Heritage Objects, including the criteria to be positive both in terms of preservation Patiayam site. Public awareness in the form of active participation in preserving good sites including Patiayam. Abstract

The efforts to the conservation of the Masjid Agung Kauman of Semarang was very important, because: first, the mosque was a historical monument which had to be preserved, and second, it is to equip the revitalization and conservation programs of the Semarang Old City as the colonial remain. The research focused on the efforts to make the mosque returned to the original form and also to detect the damages, the rotten part and the change of the components of the building, as well as the physical or the mechanistic process. The method, which has been applied in this research, was observation, photography and documentation, sample derivation, data and laboratory analyses, deciding the kind of the construction and describing the architecture. To make the mosque returned to the original form and preserve its continuance, it is necessary to reveal the models of the conservation which have based on the right rule and method.   Key Word: Mosque, Conservation, Tourism

Abstract

The conflict between President Sukarno and Masyumi Party showed an increase from one period to the next. The intensity of the conflict is increasingly hard since the release of President Conception , and reach its peak during the guided democracy. Almost every statement and policy of Sukarno are always opposed by Masyumi. Vice versa, Sukarno judge the criticism as a form of defiance and resistance. The existence of a negative assessment of each party, and not ending conflict between the two sides, then worsen the relationship between Sukarno Masjumi. Masyumi assess Sukarno ignore the principles of democracy, and Sukarno judged that Masyumi is the enemy of guided democracy. The battle between Masyumi which is based on the attitudes and actions of constitutional democracy should end with Sukarnos policies and decisions to disband the Masyumi on behalf of democracy. Abstract

The second half of the nineteenth century Dutch colonial government has issued the Law relating to economical politics in the Netherlands Indies, whose development was accompanied by a variety of social phenomena, especially among native communities. The influence of the open door politics has given impact on the rural population, because they are directly confronted with colonial interests in the arena of international commerce. Exploitation on various aspects of the lives of the rural population cannot be avoided. Therefore, entering the twentieth century. deterioration of living conditions that lead to poverty cannot be avoided. Socio-economic structure in rural indigenous communities are basically unbalanced and uneven. During Dutch colonial rule, foreign private interest was strong enough related to the international market. International markets have tended to act as an "edge" where the Indonesian economy is hung. Independence of the community and the rural economy in the colonial period almost did not indicate any changes.   Key words : Colonial exploitation, Bumiputra Population, Poverty
