Abstract

Title : The Optimization of Bayan District Dry Land –North Lombok Used The Immobilized Humic Acid in Seaweed as Fertilizer Supplement  for Maize Plant (Zea Mays L). A study on optimization of dry land used the immobilized humic acid in seaweed as fertilizer supplement for maize plant (Zea Mays L) has been done in Bayan District North Lombok Regency Nusa Tenggara Barat Province. It was known that humic acid could increase availability and uptake of nutrient (N, P, K and Corganic) at maize plant in dry land of Bayan District. It was needed a modification technique that lower quantity of humic acid using without diminishing it’s utility, by immobilized humic acid in seaweed. Research design began with the preparation of immobilized humic acid in seaweed via entrapment technique (gel) and covalent bending (liquid). Immobilization result was characterized by infrared spectrophotometer. Agircultural land was mapped according to number of treatments, then each of them was analized physical and chemical properties before planting was done. Bayan agricultural land has sandy and loose texture, reddish brown colour, and neutral acidity (pH 6.97 at depth of 0-20 cm and a pH of 6.80 at depth of 21-40 cm). It has low availability nutrient of soil (Corganic, N, P, K) at 0-20 cm depth and 21-40 cm respectively are 2.950% and 2.860%, 0.067% and 0.076%, 0.001% and 0.004 %, 0.310% and 0.390%. While the cation exchange capacity value at a depth of 0-20 cm and 21-40 cm respectively are 20.95 and 22.16 me. Based on FTIR spectra, humic acid can be immobilized on seaweed as evidenced by absorption shift, especially in the carboxylic acid and amine groups. Humic acid was able to increase nutrient availability and uptake at maize plant through it’s ability in binding, adsorbing and exchanging nutrients. Application of humic acid in soil showed increasing of plant growth (plant height, weight and nutritional value of corn). Availability and uptake of N, P and K are highest in treatment 0.1% humic acid immobilized on seaweed 100 kg ha-1 (gel) and 0.1% humic acid immobilized in seaweed (liquid) with fertilizer 100% NPK dose.

Abstract

Title : Hydrology of Land Site: The Changing of Land Cover and Water Absorption Level. The movement of water to the soil is called infiltration process. The process can be understood by infiltration model which developed by Phillips in 1960’s (I = st-0.5 + Kt). Phillips’s models can be explained as a function of time and are determined by soil sorptivity and hydraulic conductivity. Study of sorptivity and conductivity parameters on Teak land cover are to get more information about cumulative infiltration that accure during several times and coefficient of water absorption reference (Zref) in many kinds of land cover. Zref is the real soil potential for water moving and determines the soil macropores and reflects the water absorption ability. Coefficient of water absorption reference (Zref) with coefficient of water absorption (Z) from RAINS model (I = (Z Cos α/(1-λ)) P(1-λ)) can be used to estimate land cover index by the ratio of coefficient of water absorption and coefficient of water absorption reference, indirectly, show the function of land cover on certain area. The changing of land cover from Teak to agroforestry Teak+Soybean and monoculture system (Soybean and Maize) increase land cover index as big as 15% and 70%, respectively. On the other hand, the changing to agroforestry Teak+Maize decrease land cover index as big as 3.4%. The estimation of coefficient of water absorption reflects the function of land cover as the main point to get the ability of water soil movement. Title : Using Tea Extract and Vermicompost on Caisim (Brassica juncea L.) Cultivation. The aim of the research is to know the effect of tea extract and vermicompost on yield and growth of caisim (Brassica juncea L.). The research was conducted in February-March 2009 in Screen House in Agriculture Faculty Sebelas Maret University at 96 meter above sea level. The research was arranged on factorial design based on Complete Randomize Design. The treatment of the research was tea extract with concentration 0, 10, 20, and 30 g/L and dosage vermicompost 0, 4, 8 and 12 ton/acre (equal 0, 10, 20 and 30 g/crop). Each treatment was repeated 3 times, and each of them restating 2 crop unit. Data was analysized by analysis of variants with test of 0.05, if there was significant continued with test of Duncan 0.05. Research variable were plant height, leaf number, fresh and shoot biomass weight, fresh and biomass root weight, root volume, chlorophyll content, leaf area and root shoot ratio. Result of research show there is interaction between tea extract and vermicompost on shoot root ratio. Shoot root ratio increase by increasing tea extract concentration on caisim without vermicompost and with vermicompost 8 ton/acre. Application tea extract do not give significantly effect on growth and yield of caisim. Dose vermicompost 8 ton/acre gave the highest of average fresh weight and leaf number. Keywords: caisim, tea extract, vermicompost
