Abstract

Environmental issues are critical questions about what will happen to the Earth in the future. Critical, because everyone agrees that humans? behavior is bad implications for the future of the earth. Evils caused by obsession and ambition of development, deterioration due to residues of rationality and technology development, to the harmful effects of the practice of politics and the state. Although not considered to contribute directly, religious people are called and aware as people who share the responsibility of the crucial questions about the environment. Is the religion concerned with the environment, whether religion actually indifferent and become part of the destroyers of the environment? This is the urgency of reviewing the issue of Islamic Cosmo-theology as a new epistemological dimension of divinity juxtaposing religion with the study of the universe.

Abstract

This article discusses the thinking of Haji Agus Salim about aqîdah, sharî?ah, and Ihsân. Regarding the Agus Salim?s thinking about Aqeedah, he covers the concept of tawhîd (the deity), destiny (God?s provision) and resignation (surrender). While thinking associated with sharî?ah contains ideas in social and ritual. The idea of charity was oriented at a picture of the attitudes and virtues in Islam that applied. Haji Agus Salim patterns of thought very dialectic and dynamic that unites the mind with the teachings of Islam as well as enriched with actual discourse and historical dimensions.

Abstract

This article attempts to look at the fiqh school affiliation of Shâdhilîyah Tariqa in Jombang which has certain patterns of worship. A set of rituals conducted by the adherents of this Tariqa show that they conducted the rituals in accordance with Shâfi?î school. However, in some cases there are few things which are quite different from the Shâfi?î school. There are two possible causes. First, the adherents of the Tariqa follow the opinion of their murshid. Second, they follow the opinion of other three Sunni schools, i.e. Hanafi, Mâlikî, and Hanbalî, though it is insignificant. Different ways of performing ritual occur when the murshid issues fatwa on different opinion from the Shâfi?î school. It means that as long as the murshid does not issue the fatwa which is different from the Shâfi?î school, the majority of the adherents remain affiliate to it. Furthermore, when the adherents study fiqh more deeply and compare the fiqh schools, they follow the stongest argument of the schools eventough it is not Shâfi?î school. However, this phenomenon is rarely happen for the adherents of the Shâdhilîyah Tariqa in Jombang as their knowledge in fiqh is not deep enough. Their affiliated school of fiqh is mosty influenced by the social and cultural conditions surrounding them as well as their education and religious knowledge.Keywords: Shâdhilîyah Tariqa, Shâfi?î school, affiliation, murshid.

Abstract

The reform in Egypt was originally considered as the end of the Islamic political system and replaced by the democratic system. However, after H{izb al-H{urrîyah wa al-?Adâlah (Freedom and Justice Party) in Egypt was able to win the election and wiped out two of the most strategic positions, i.e. the speakerman of parliament and the president, it should be admitted that the Islamic political system has never ceased. There is a new fact that the Arab nations, especially Egypt, began to accept the democratic system without having to necessarily remove the role of Islam from it. Collaboration and integration between Islam and democracy is what has been introduced in Egypt today. Islamic system of democracy which is introduced in Egypt becomes the new hallmark of the Islamic movement or more precisely what so-called moderate Islam. Al-Ikhwân al-Muslimûn (IM) is a religious organization that is worthy of being a representation of the moderate Islamic forces today. It has managed to get out of the mode of fanaticism and conservatism (fundamentalist) toward adaptive patterns of thought and compromise. This study focuses on the factors and measures of IM changes from fundamentalist Islam to moderate Islam. This study concludes that IM?s ideological changes were driven by several factors, such as the role of the figure, government?s treatment, social condition, and human resources organization.

Abstract

The article discusses gender issue which has still become a global discourse within 21st century. The discourse will always become an actual issue as it constantly emerges from women and community?s consciousness who find strategic discrepancy and injustice, in regard with the relation between men and women, in which they might lead to relational discrimination, subordination, stereotype, and inequality. The writer, at this point, attempts to bring about comparative analysis between two interpretation paradigms on gender issue promulgated by Nasr Hâmid Abû Zayd and Amina Wadud. Both people share a common academic apprehension when they observe backwardness of the Muslim women in many aspects of life (as a fully human agency) caused by patriarchy tradition, gender injustice, and problem of minority in the Muslim world. This has subsequently caused the two authors to reconstruct methodological paradigm of Quranic exegesis on gender issue in order to generate a just interpretation. They see the importance of having high social consciousness which properly considers women?s existence based on sacred values of humanity. However, this view faces obstacles from other Muslim scholars as they consider Zayd and Wadud heretics and have conducted what so-called ?an intellectual shirk?.

Pluralisme dianggap sebagai basis ketiga dalam menafsir keberagaman beragama, setelah eksklusivisme dan inklusivisme. Sejalan dengan sejarah pluralisme di Barat, pluralisme Islam di Indonesia juga bisa dikatakan sebagai kontinuitas dari dua paradigma keberagamaan sebelumnya, yakni eksklusivisme dan inklusivisme. Meski demikian, aksi maupun reaksi yang dilakukan para pemikir fundametalis Muslim di Indonesia tidak bisa begitu saja dinafikan. Menurut kelompok terakhir ini, pluralisme adalah jalan berpikir yang ?terlarang?.

Abstract

This article proves that there is a significant relationship between the Islamic philosophy along with spiritual ecology and the ecological crisis and its solution. Loss of views and beliefs of spiritual ecology are among causes of environmental damage and the universe. Therefore, the restoration of spiritual ecology and its relationship to ecological values will play a pivotal role in the conservation and rescuing of natural and environmental crisis. Spiritual and Islamic philosophical values have ecological implications and consequences that should be the attitude and lifestyle in creating a harmonious relationship between God, man, and the universe. Eco-philosophy presents what so-called the values of spirituality as its base and emphasizes that humans remain to be special from other creatures. However, such privilege has to be a burden for humans and they are obliged to maintain and preserve the universe with spirituality and based on cosmic theology as coined in Islamic philosophy. Abstract

This article puts emphasis on Daljî, one of traditional Muslim scholars, about his writing ?Ta?lîqât ?alâ Sharh Shaykh Islâm Zakarîyyâ al-Ansârî li Matn Isaghuji?, with philological approach. Such approache has been widely known in Islamic world as tahqîq al-nusûs, which focuses on presenting part of the text readable in different time and context, so it can be used and read in accordance with writer?s intention. What important from Daljî?s contribution in the study of traditional Aristotelian logic (mantiq) is that his defense on this study has firm position, whereas another Sunnî Traditionalist especially the people who was known as Ahl al-hadîth like Ibn Salâh and Ibn Taymîyya considered it as innovation according to the authoritative Islamic teachings. In his ta?lîq, Daljî followed the previous Muslim Scholar in writing logical method that was considerably known amongst its experts. The topics discussed in this study deal with explanations on kulliyât (generals), qadâyâ (prepositions), al-?aks wa al-tanâqud (the contradictions), on qiyâsât (syllogism), on rhetoric and poetics.

Abstract

This study focuses on the contribution of religious fatwa MUI on the situation of religious life are colored by various types of discrimination, intolerance, and even violence based on religion. This study found that religious fatwas of the MUI, in practice it is used as a foothold by state officials to violate the freedom of religion/belief. Riskly, legal policy is no longer based on the constitution and the law, but the MUI fatwa. These conditions have spawned authoritarian government legitimized by religious views. On the other hand the fatwa provide religious life situations are colored by different types of discrimination, intolerance, and even violence based on religion.

Abstract

This article explores the ideas of KH Asyhari Marzuqi?s tasawuf akhlaqi. For him, morality is categorized into two parts, namely the morality of God and morality to others. The morality of God include: first, repentance tawbat nasûhah and taqarrub, while the way of repentance and prayer can taqarrub and recitation. Second, with thanksgiving favors. And third, multiply the reading of al-Qur?ân. While the character among humans includes, first, ?al-amr bi al-ma?rûf wa al-nahy ?an al-munkar?. Second, the pilgrimage to the grave as a reminder of death. Third, convey the message. Fourth, as a kind thought khilafiyah solution. And fifth, an blessing in disguise that fear to Allah. One filter that is able to stem the current crisis is multidimensional with glorious akhlaq. Keywords: tasawuf akhlâqî, salat, zikir, dan al-amr bi al-ma?rûf.
