Abstract

PT PSA in its 16 months of operations do not have a structured production planning, beside that material planning and management is conducted based on intuition. Based on these conditions, this study aims to create a global production image to maximize profit, and material planning and management for the June 2008 period. The integer linear programming method is used due to the integer unit characteristics of the final product; thereby the optimization results should also be in in integer. The optimum results from the profit maximization problem is Rp 968,184,500.00 derived from production of 11058 balado crisps boxes, 19455 cheese crisps boxes, 16636 pea boxes and 13166 pilus boxes. From the profit maximization problem results, it is concluded that the resource capacity of PT PSA is enough to fulfill production plan for the June 2009 period.

Abstract

PD Impressa Mulia is a company that produces carton based display goods. To be able to compete with other competitors the company plans to save by using aggregate planning currently in process in the company. With aggregate methods companies can use the most optimum type of manufacturing process planning. In addition, in order to provide products on the market with the right amount, it can use historical estimates from data collected. Thus, production can be controlled so as not to exceed or far below demand. For this reason, this article discusses object oriented analysis and design using the modeling language Unified Modeling Language (UML

Abstract

PT XYZ is the pioneer company in Indonesia and the World which produces bottled tea beverage products. The company always strives to improve quality, especially in minimizing nonstandard products that occur in every process of production. Therefore the company needs corrective action to reduce the variations of non-standard products that occur on each process. In this study, the author uses Six Sigma methodology with an improvement model Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) to analyze process and product performance bottled tea at PT XYZ. By applying this methodology, the process and product performance of the company expected to increase and reach the higher level of sigma.

Abstract

Compensation is an important factor affecting how and why people choose to work at a organization. PT. Pabrik Kaos Aseli must be reasonably competitive and fair compensation system to attract and retain competent employees. The point rating system is the most widely used among job evaluation methods. It breaks down jobs into various compensable factors and places weights, or points, on it. Compensable factors identify a relative job value commonly present through-out a group of jobs. The factors are derived from the job analysis. Education, job complexity, responsibility, effort, and working environment are identified as compensable factors and weighted heavily. To reduce subjectivity, a group of people familiar with the jobs makes such determination. Once points have identified for all factors, the total points for a job are computed. After that, all jobs are grouped together into pay grades. The highest relative job value is Manufacturing Manager (7341.6) and the lowest one is Diesel & Workshop Operator (3622.2). To determine the pay structure, the interpolation method 1:3 is used with total cost increasing 7.55 %.

Abstract

Industry stakeholders are expected to work faster to fulfill market demands and avoid loss of opportunity in business. An effective and efficient system is need to support this expectation. This study examines the queueing system on Vehicle Logistic Center for optimalizing total number of servers. Long queues usually occur at the Final Inspection area. Data is collected and calculated, subsequently simulates using promodel 7.0. The result of this research shows that optimal total number of servers with a reduced waiting time of 11,60% and total cost of Rp 41.056,00.It is recommended that the company uses 2 (two) server for the queuing system in the Final Inspection area in order to improve service quality.

Abstract

In an industry, information takes important role in every aspect involving industrial management. Inaccuracies will not only slowdown production process but also causes inefficiency in other processes. Research is conducted on supply chain performance indicators, namely product inventory level and order backlog. There are three major processes in PT Lembah Tidar Jaya Magelang, a company specializing in leather industry. These processes are Beam House Process, Retaining Process and Finishing Process. Indicator measurement for the three steps uses application of dynamic system simulation by using Based Model Order Information Sharing and Demand Sharing to understand the underlying structure that generates inventory fluctuations and order backlog size. Based on the evaluation of the system, the demand sharing model is proven to be more stable compared to the based model.

Abstract

Welded joints of the zirconium pipe were widely used in the chemical industry or nuclear facility because their high mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance of zirconium material. To improve the mechanical properties of welded joint a method of TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding with a suitable welding parameters were necessary used. Evaluation of strength and microstructure of the welded joint will be used to improve the quality, strength and process technology. This paper described the evaluation of the hardness, strength and microstructure of the TIG welded joint of Zircalloy- 2 pipe. The welding was done for two kinds of samples using the welding machine of the M80-3 model of the TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) type, with the welding current of 30 and 35 Ampere/ second respectively. The hardness test was done by using the Vickers hardness scale. Testing of welded joint strength was carried out using the hydrostatic test by measured the change of pipe diameters and observed the pipe brake according to the internal pressure of 100, 200, 400 and 425 bars given into the pipe, and the microstructure test was observed by using the optical microscope. The hardness test showed that the maximum hardness number of 203 VHN was occurred at the heat affected zone (HAZ) area obtained. The result of hydrostatic test showed that there was not a change on the dimensions in the welded area up to internal pressure test of 400 bars.
