Abstract

This research executes a working measurement or time study of each operator on three work stations in the finishing line. From the calculation, it is identified that workload of each operator is very low with an average efficiency of 28%. The number of operators can be optimized from nine to three people, so that work efficiency will increase to approximately 85%. To better see the potency of work element repair with no added value, Yamazumi loading chart is created. Meanwhile, to ensure that the process works, a work standardization of process flow diagrams and sequence of work, takt time, and cycle time is implemented, where the cycle time must be set after the proposed improvements are implemented.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve engine performance by improving the fermentation of bread heat distribution patterns in the machine and increase energy use efficiency by reducing energy consumption of electricity grid using alternatives other energy sources. In this study, the calculation method used three expert assessments of each alternative posed by using the fishbone diagram to diagnose the existing problems in fermentation machine. Histogram which determined the amount of costs required by each alternative is rosen based on factual data and by using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to determine the criteria and weighting of each alternative based on the assessment of the three experts. The results showed that the value and performance of the alternative energy source is more competitive compared to other alternatives. The best alternative bread fermentation machine is one with an alternative energy source without the use of automated pipeline gas systems.

Abstract

Product quality is one issue in business survival. One of quality strategies using group oriented is known as Quality Control Circle (QCC). The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of the implementation of QCC to the employee’s work performance and satisfaction at PT PDP. The objects observed in this research were employees of PT PDP. The samples studied were 112 employees who are currently undergoing QCC at Production Engineering, Production, Warehouse and Quality Control sections. The method used for data collection in this study is random sampling. The collected data is then further analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling software AMOS 7.0. This research showes that QCC has direct effect on the employee’s work performance and satisfaction, and employee’s satisfaction also has direct influence on the employee’s work performance.

Abstract

Examining the relationship between factors that effects job performance and job satisfaction is the purpose of this study. Based on the extant literature and research done before on job performance and job satisfaction, we proposed a structural model depicting hypothesized associations between incentive, superiors and working condition on job performance and satisfaction. Data are collected from 100 floor employees of Carrefour Ambasador Jakarta, through research questioner instrument, and is run with LISREL 7.31 software. The results, based on structural equation modeling (SEM), showes that only ‘superiors’ that really effects 35.32% of job performance at Carrefour Ambasador. While job performance effects 38.75% of job satisfaction. Modification model which is the result of this study, has breaks several hypothetical assumptions that effect job satisfaction at Carrefour Ambasador.

Abstract

The high road traffic in Jakarta often leads to a massive traffic jam. The problem arises because the volume of vehicles increasing at a higher rate than the road development. To overcome the traffic jam problem, the government introduced bus rapid transit, known as TransJakarta, in 2004. They expects the users of the private vehicle will switch to using TransJakarta, which can further lessen the traffic congestion. However, until now, TransJakarta is still having a low ridership, and is not able to meet the expectation. Passengers often critize the system because of long inter-arrival time between buses, which forced passengers to wait for a long time. TransJakarta operator has to address this issue as quickly as possible before inhabitantsof Jakarta losing their trust on the system. In this study, we analyzed the arrival frequency of TransJakarta buses at the peak-period time and off-peak period time, and also analyzed the factors that affect the frequency.

Abstract

CV Prima Bangun Nusantara is a leather manufacturing company which is currently experiencing an increase in demand from consumers and is planning to build a new factory. Since types of product manufactured are varied and tend to fluctuate every 6 months, the layout should be designed flexible to anticipate the changes that may occur. The design begins by counting the number of machines based on the data of production lack provided by the company. The calculation of the number of machines by using a routing sheet is to determine the number of machines suitable for the new factory. After that is creating a relationship among the departments shown in ARD whichis then used to calculate the cost of material handling (CMH). The calculations show that the value of CMH for “by process” is Rp.948.505, while the fractal is Rp.905.413. The layout of the fractal generates smaller CMH value by a margin of 5% or as much as Rp.43.092. To better see the difference in the two layouts, a test is done by changing the data of product types and volume created (in accordance with the conditions of the company, in which the type and volume of products made may be changed every 6 months). The CMH value for “by process” layout is Rp.407.283 and for the fractal one is Rp.247.745. The fractal layout generates smaller CMH value with a difference as much as Rp.159.538 or 39%.

Abstract

PD Sandang Jaya is a garment industry that produces products by order. PD Sandang Jaya realizes how important production processes to meet product demands and increase productivity. Thus, this research goal is to increase productivity by maximizing the existing production on production floor, so that the continuity of material flow can run smoothly in the production process. This research emphasizes on the production line which is always be an outstanding problem within the company. Line balancing method is used to improve the performance of any existing production process on the production floor by calculating the standard time and regulating the flow of production process on each line. By using Helgeson Birnie-line balancing method, the efficiency of production process increases to 90,38% and 9,62% for balanced delayed. By using Helgeson Birnie, each of production lines becomes more efficient. Some changes also occur in the Ws where Ws proposal is divided into three Ws. Ndeed, it will facilitate the flow of materials to make the process works. After calculating line balancing, labor allocation should be determine to decide quantity of total production. Total production obtained in this research is 113 units per day. Thus, total production for 30 days is 3.390 units or 282 dozen increasing from 3.000 units. Base on line balancing method, labor productivity increases from 214,8 to 250.
