Abstract

There are several problems faced by the manufacturing industry, such as in PD Tegas in the effort to raise production. One of the problems identified is inappropriate implementation of line balancing. This study is conducted by using 3 methods of line balancing, Ranked Positional Weight (RPW), the Largest Candidate Rule, dan Killbridge Wester. From analysis resuts, the Killbridge Wester method gained the biggest line Efficiency value of 88.25%, while the Ranked Position Weight (RPW) LE method gained a line Efficiency value of 85.98% and Largest Candidate Rule (LCR) LE method gained a line Efficiency value of 85.31%. By implementation of line balancing method in the company, production line can be improved, decrease of idle time, and better production capacity compared to initial conditions.

Abstract

Companys current scheduling condition is not optimal since too much additional time/work days exists. Planning and creating a better production scheduling system is needed to minimize production time and reduce the additional time. The CDS scheduling method will find the best makespan by combining existing work stations into two groups of machines. Those two groups are sorted by prioritizing on fastest process time, and then the makespan can be created. Meanwhile the NEH scheduling method looks for the makespan by sorting based on the SPT (Shortest Processing Time) first and then enter the job based on the sequence of each. This research found that the NEH scheduling method is the most appropriate since it obtained a bigger cost saving and eliminates overtime.

Abstract

PT KSP is a fibrous food product manufacturing companies "Nata De Coco”. Most common problems that arise are shortages or overstocking of products. The purpose of this study is to propose the implementation of Manufacturing Resource Planning system (MRP II). Data is obtained by using forecasting, aggregate planning, capacity requirements planning resources (Resource Requirement Planning), master production scheduling (MPS), MPS validation (Rough Cut Capacity Planning), and Bill of Material to Material Requirement Planning (MPR). Forecasting data are taken from best forecasting results with Linear Regression forecasting method. Aggregate planning is conducted after forecast with least cost analysis, namely the chase method which can be continuously used to MRP. Best forecasting results with the smallest error will be taken from the forecast of the next 3 periods for base calculation of materials. This study concluded that the company can apply MRP II, to ensure steady flow of production and in the process also better in meeting consumer demand.

Abstract

Limited resources in developing small and middle industries in DKI Jakarta have made the growth of these industries to be slow. Small and middle industries must be subsidized by the government and investment companies. The industry itself is a complex system which consists of elements that are related each other so it produces a certain corporate character. Therefore, it is necessary to make a policy pattern of partnership between small and middle industry, government and investment companies. The approach in developing small and middle industries in DKI Jakarta is a system approach which is used System Dynamic tool. The system gives solution to the problem faced by industry by the following steps of problem identification, designing causal loop diagram, model development, simulation, test of sensitivity, and strategic efficiency analysis. The result yielded from the implementation of the dynamic system is to increase the development of small and middle industries in DKI Jakarta by using the pattern of partnership with government and investment companies.

Abstract

Industrial company, especially automotive companies posses unique characteristics compared with other companies. One of these unique characteristics are that they must own a production system which is able to meet customer requests, who recently becomes more and more interested in paint quality. Companies compete to find defect as early as possible in their production area. Painting quality parameter can be measured in number of defects found by Quality Inspection in the Vehicle Inspection line. These defects can be monitored by applying Quality Information System. This system enables faster exchange of defect information to each production operator who made mistakes thereby not reaching quality standards. Company has to invest for this system, and the investment value can be evaluated in efficiency which can also be used to raise company efficiency.

Abstract

The inventory system is one of the most important managerial functions, since vast majority of companies has large investment involved in this aspect. This also applies to PT. Palko Sari Eka that is big in the field of inventory planning and production control. PT. Palko Sari Eka, as one company in the oil refinery industry, strives to optimize the inventory of raw materials Crude Coconut Oil by trying to compare different methods of inventory control methods such as the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity, method of EOI (Economic Order Interval), Min-Max method. Crude Coconut Oil is one of the major raw material products, which require a good inventory system. From the results of research conducted, it turns out the character of stochastic demand data, it is also necessary to conduct simulations to obtain results closer to the actual conditions. The inventory criteria can be said to be optimal if the total annual cost is minimum. It is concluded that the best method is the Fixed Size Order Systems (EOQ) with an order of 2770 mT per order.

Abstract

The bridge construction industry has a unique characteristics compared to other industrial companies, namely its production system should be able to meet increasing demands and very high fluctuations. Limited space in the production line and increasing operational costs have made the management of PT BMI obtaining a more appropriate management strategy for its production system. In this research, the author attempts to implement the 5S principle in production management. This study aims to implement and reveal the effectiveness of production time from the implementation of 5S principle in the Fabrication 1 division. The study is also conducted by formulating the actual problem, followed by literature review and direct observation in the field for calculation of requirements to achieve full implementation of the 5S principle. This study recommends the company to implement the 5S principle to other divisions, due to proven increase in efficiency.
