Abstract

Information now is an important element to every growing industry in the world. Inorder to keep up with other competitors, endless improvements in optimizing overall efficiency areneeded. There still exist barriers that separate departments in PT. XYZ and cause limitation to theinformation sharing in the system. Open-Source Manufacturing Execution System (MES) presentsas an IT-based application that offers wide variety of customization to eliminate stovepipes bysharing information between departments. Benchmarking is used to choose the best Open-SourceMES Application; and Dynamic System Development Method (DSDM) is adopted as this workguideline. As a result, recommendations of the chosen Open-Source MES Application arerepresented.

Abstract

A car driver often had trouble to park his car a narrow location, caused by a narrow parking area on the wane. Also, cars had often crashed the electric pillar or scratched the car on the wall while retreat. The problem was the driverdidn’t know condition behind vehicle because of limited of view. The research aimed to make a system that can easily helpdriver in parking his car, by using of ultrasonic parking sensor. The method used in sensor scheme parks is ultrasonicisensor to detect and measure car and balk distance by utilising of 851 family microcontroller as the main system. Theresult indicates that ultrasonic censor effective deep measurement was on distance of 2 cm – 30 m. It is that enoughultrasonic censor is effective to be implemented on censor parks.

Abstract

Interaction with computer is considered with excitement because perhaps it is more efficient. But, there was an endangering aspect which also would mount which was a health work. Health problem came from the intensity of computer usage, in a low level or injury trouble which emerged for the long run after when using a computer. By evolusive, the end result became equal in the form of serious health trouble. This article can inspire to feel awareness human factor and ergonomic in use of computer, either in environment work, public place or other places and expected also can give benefit for good society in creating creative new idea and inovation to develop technology of more computer pay attention to factor of human and ergonomic. Keywords: human factors, ergonomic, computer, health and safety

Abstract

This research was conducted on one budget period in 2009 funded by DIKTI young lecturer research project grant. The main research location is Bina Nusantara University. Due to tight research schedule, it was necessary to take some strategic steps to fulfill research goals. One of the strategic steps was to invite several experts in software industry to give advices regarding open source software engineering issues. The first achievement was findings of some open source software that could assist on auditing information systems. Afterwards, comparison from technical and functional aspects resulted in the best software to be tested for implementation and usage, namely ZenossCore. The final output of this research is successful reengineering of the source code for virtual file testing. Keywords: open source software, audit implementation, information system

Abstract

Biometrics is a method used to recognize humans based on one or a few characteristicsphysical or behavioral traits that are unique such as DNA, face, fingerprints, gait, iris, palm, retina, signature and sound. Although the facts that ear prints are found in 15% of crime scenes, ear printsresearch has been very limited since the success of fingerprints modality. The advantage of the useof ear prints, as forensic evidence, are it relatively unchanged due to increased age and have fewervariations than faces with expression variation and orientation. In this research, complex Gaborfilters is used to extract the ear prints feature based on texture segmentation. Principal componentanalysis (PCA) is then used for dimensionality-reduction where variation in the dataset ispreserved. The classification is done in a lower dimension space defined by principal componentsbased on Euclidean distance. In experiments, it is used left and right ear prints of ten respondentsand in average, the successful recognition rate is 78%. Based on the experiment results, it isconcluded that ear prints is suitable as forensic evidence mainly when combined with otherbiometric modalities. Keywords: Biometrics; Ear prints; Complex Gabor filters; Principal component analysis;Euclidean distance

Abstract

A system consists of input, process, and output. User interface is a place for users to interact in the system where one of the functions is as input facility of the system. One of the input tools is keyboard. With the development of touchscreen, then virtual keyboard is required. A good interface must be able to be used easily especially for novice users. The usability testing is required to know the usability level of the interface. A good usability has characteristics of effective to use (effectiveness), efficient to use (efficiency), safe to use (safety), having good utility (utility), easy to learn (learnability) and easy to remember how to use (memorability). Usability testing is an evaluation approach involving users. With usability testing, it is expected that it can give positive inputs in designing an interface especially virtual keyboard interface mainly with the characteristics of easy to learn (learnability), and easy to remember how to use (memorability) so that the resulted design can have good usability level

Abstract

Notre-Dame Bookshop is a company which growth is quite fast. For only 2 years, this bookshop hasopened 2 new branches. Unfortunately, this growth was not followed up by the development of company onsales system and shop marketing. Therefore, this research was conducted to facilitate all transaction in pointof sales from Notre-Dame Bookshop, and also to implement Customer Relationship Management (CRM)application in it. Research method used was a direct survey in field, a library study, an interview, aquestionaire, and a design method. The benefit of creating this application is to provide some solutions forproblem faced by Notre-Dame Bookshop, such as an easier recording of transaction, a more orderly andimposible to be lost managing of customers’ data, and a more practical and detailed reporting. Theconclusion got is with the existence of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) aplication integrated withpoint of sales, Notre-Dame Bookshop will be able to increase service to the customers by providing a fastand clear information, managing customers and company campaigne better, and obtaining details oftransaction faster and easier. Thus, the Notre-Dame Bookshop can be more sustained in creating their visionand mission. Keywords: point of sales, customer relationship management, company campaign

Abstract

PT Starsindo Logistics is a company engaged in the field of freight forwarder. The company problem faced today is providing information to customers that are less precise and quick, especially on the customer’s order status information. This problem starts from the time of departure until time EMKL truck dock container freight customers enter the process. Therefore, it is necessary to use electronic Customer Service applications-Customer Relationship Management as it can make it easier to manage and control the flow of information about the status of customer orders. The research method is to follow the rules that exist in the Object Oriented Analysis and Design which has been introduced by Mathiassen. Through the website, the public is expected to easily access all information about the company and vessel schedules. Customers can also access information on schedule orders, tracking order status and transaction history that has been done. With the web-based Customer Service applications, it is expected to help companies build better relationships with customers. Keywords: e-customer relationship management, freight forwarding, object-oriented analysis and design
