Abstract

The financial management behavior has become prevailing issue nowadays. This is due to the societys behavior of consumptions in Indonesia, and especially in Surabaya city. This study aims to examine the relationship between Locus of Control, Financial Knowledge, and Income on Financial Management Behavior. The sample consists of 104 respondents, in Su- rabaya in which they were taken by means of Purposive Sampling. The characteristic of re- spondents such as they live in Surabaya, labor force, and they have income equal to Rp 1.500.000. Using Structural Equation Modeling on AMOS, this research found that no direct effect on Financial Management Behavior by Financial knowledge and Income. Locus of Control is positively related to Financial Management Behavior, and Locus of Control medi- ates the effect of Financial Knowledge on Financial Management Behavior.

Abstract

In decision making related to investment, selection process is not an easy job for the investors. This is true when they do it in an uncertainty situation. Besides that, choosing a certain invest- ment asset has its own consequence such as it may be beneficial or the other way around. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence of competence and overconfidence of indi- vidual investor toward the stock trading behavior. This research also uses demographic factors as control variables such as gender, age, income, and educational background. The sample consists of 133 investors of twenty four securities companies in Surabaya and the analysis was done by means of employs Multiple Regression Analysis to test the hypotheses. The results re- veal that investors competence and overconfidence significantly affect their stock trading be- havior. Investor who perceive themselves to be more competence and overconfidence will act on their beliefs by trading more compared by those who less competence and overconfidence. Given the results, brokerage and security firms should understand their investors competence and overconfidence, and take any action to improve them by providing information and educa- tion. By increasing their competence and self-confidence, investors will trade more which will ultimately increase the brokerage and securities firms profits.

Abstract

This study analyses the effect of the dimensions of service quality toward the satisfaction and its implication of the customers loyalty at PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional (BTPN) Surabaya branch. It is a causal research using primary data gathered from the questionnaire filled by BTPNs 125 customers. The respondents were chosen using systematic random samplings due to the data of the customers have already been in the database of Personal Banking Officer (PBO). The result of this research indicates that the reliability, responsiveness, tangible are positively significant toward satisfaction, but assurance and empathy are not positively significant toward satisfaction, beside satisfaction is positively significant toward loyalty. Referring to the research result focusing on the weakness score of mean and the test result of hypotheses, some implications to BPTN are considerations in order to be able to provide better service quality such as in reliability and responsiveness in which there should be more strictly-time based service; in assurance and satisfaction there should better analysis to refer in controlling the service process; in empathy there should be on time in starting the counter; and in tangible there should be renew policy in the facilities.

Abstract

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in general, grow and develop from the bottom armed with the spirit of entrepreneurship. After survived and developed into a company, usually a family business that is driven by human resources that have a family linkage to each other. As a family business that emphasizes harmony, need a central figure as a leader capable of moving the company effectively. The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship of leadership effectiveness on job satisfaction in small and medium-sized enterprises based on family. The effectiveness of leadership in family firms in the model of situational leadership is largely determined by the adjustment of the maturity of the employees with the leadership style practiced. In the event of compliance hence could be expected would be easy to achieve corporate objectives include achieving sustained earnings growth that is sustainable. One indicator of leadership effectiveness is the satisfaction and performance improvement. This research examines the relationship between leadership effectiveness with satisfaction. Lead- ership model is using the situational leadership theory of Hersey-Blanchard. The results turned out to support the theory that there is a positive and significant relationship between leadership effectiveness and job satisfaction.

Abstract

Banks as financial institutions have delivered superior services to their customers for gaining competitive advantages. The intimacy between banks employees and customers has signifi- cant role for creating satisfaction. This research tries to examine the influence of the deter- mination of customer intimacy specifically benevolence, credibility, and image of banks em- ployee on intimacy between banks employees and customers and customer satisfaction. Re- search involved 100 customers from four banks (Mandiri, BNI, BRI, and BTN) that selected by purposive sampling. Data were analyzed by Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that: (1) benevolence did not have significantly effect on intimacy between banks employees and customers, (2) credibility and employees image have significantly in- fluences on intimacy between banks employees and customers, and (3) bank s employees and customers intimacy has positive effect on customer satisfaction. The implication of this research is that bank should improve the credibility and employee image for creating banks employees and customers intimacy. Beside it, bank should keep their intimacy for satisfying the customers.

Abstract

Being lack and ignorant of family financial management knowledge generally is due to being lack of investment and planning for the welfare of the family. The lack of such knowledge can lead to financial decisions every day. Therefore, experience in managing finance is neces- sary. Individual experiences is a learning process in managing financial and investment planning so that in making financial decisions every day can be focused and wiser. This study focuses on financial knowledge and experience as a measure of literacy that influences the attitudes and behavior of family financial investment planning in Surabaya. This study used questionnaires which were distributed to 380 respondents. The sampling method was pur- posive sampling, based on family income with a minimum income of Rp 2,000,000 per month. The results showed that knowledge in finance and financial experience affect the investment behavior of family financial planning, financial management attitudes moderating influence and strengthen the financial knowledge and experience does not moderate influence on the behavior of financial investment planning family finances.

Abstract

In connection with the development of tourism in East Java from 2009 to 2011, it has shown that this sector has been indicated as having good prospect and progress. The purpose of this study was to analyze competitive advantage based on Knowledge Management (KM) through Intellectual Capital (IC) and Innovation at Surabaya Plaza Hotel. This study is a qualitative research using a case study approach. In collecting the data, an interview was done to the General Manager, the Resident Manager, eight Department Heads, the employees of the Month (EOM), the employees of the Year (EOY), and the supervisor of the Quarter (SOQ). Besides an interview, this study also conducted an observation. In addition, the reliability of this research was conducted by using triangulation technique. The results show that intangible asset is considered more important than tangible asset in the hotel and that it is probably important to evaluate IC, Innovation as well as KM with business performance. The synergy of KM, IC and Innovation aligned with business strategy has produced a competitive advantage.

Abstract

The bank is a financial institution that serves as an intermediary for those who have surplus funds to those who need it. Beside, banking activities include funding, lending and providing other services. In addition, funding activities include demand deposits, saving deposits and time deposits. While lending activities interbank placement, commercial papers and credits. To obtain profits, the bank needs to measure its ability to conduct its operations, one of which it uses the ratio of the efficiency ratio of operating expenses to operating income. The study uses sample of Regional Government Bank during the period 2010-2012 with total assets of over 10 trillion. There are six bank used as a sample, namely PT. BPD. Kalimantan Timur, PT. BPD. Riau, PT. BPD. Jawa Tengah, PT. BPD. Jawa Timur, PT. BPD Sumatra Utara. Based on this research, the growth of demand deposits, saving deposits, time deposit, loan received, inter- bank placement, commercial papers, and credit simultaneously have a significant effect on the growth of BOPO, by 28 %. Among the seven independent variables, there are three independ- ent variables that have a significant influence on the dependent such as time deposit growth with 9.92 %, the growth loan by 5.24 %, the growth interbank placement by 9.30%.

Abstract

Some factors are deemed to be important for research in relation to customer loyalty. These factors are service quality, emotional satisfaction, relationship quality. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of service quality, emotional satisfaction, relationship quality on customer loyalty Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in Surabaya. The sample taken consists of KFC Jalan Ahmad Yani Surabaya customers. Analysis tool used is the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results showed that there is a significant and positive effect of service quality of emotional satisfaction, emotional satisfaction a positive significant effect on customer loyalty. Beside, emotional satisfaction has positive and significant effect on the quality of relationships.
