Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out and describe how the application of the mar-keting strategy is, in developing the micro small medium enterprise, in the face of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) 2015. The study was focusing on the micro SMEs of handicraft industries e.g. leather, bags, and suitcases in Tanggulangin-Sidoarjo. The method employed in this study was the phenomenology of qualitative ap-proach. The data were collected from the owners of micro and small management, con-sumers, with the total number of 5 people and 1 from the government. It used observa-tion, documentation, and structured interview with the open questions for getting com-plete information. The results showed that the marketing strategy of the micro SME’s consisting of product, price, promotion, and distribution was not yet going well for fac-ing the ASEAN economic community 2015. In terms of products and the price, they were good but in terms of distribution and promotion, they were very weak. Other re-sults of the local government related to the condition of being still in half-measures in the development of the micro SMEs, especially in terms of the promotion and the awarding business credit.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the influence of financial literacy, locus of control, and ethnic on investment decision. This research uses multiple regression analy-sis technique and a sample of 199 investors who put their funds in bank account and real asset in Surabaya and Madura region. The results shows that financial literacy, internal locus of control, external locus of control, and ethnic do not have significant impact si-multaneously on investment decision, while locus control is only variable that has signif-icant partial impact investment decision. This finding implies that goof financial literacy per se will not result in a good investment decision without accompanied by good inter-nal control. Therefore, policy makers should not only focus on financial literacy educa-tion but also increase public awareness about the importance of self-control when making investment decisions.

Abstract

In 2007, the financial crisis occurred in the USA and in 2008-2009, it caused the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) to decline which led to the fall of the Dow Jones Index. This eco-nomic condition affected all of the countries including Indonesia, as well as without ex-ception the capital markets industries. This study is mainly to determine the effect of several global stock indices and macroeconomic indicators on JCI. The global stock indic-es and macroeconomic indicators used in this study are: the Dow Jones Industrial Aver-age Index, Nikkei 225 index, Shanghai Composite Index, FTSE100 index, oil prices, gold prices, exchange rate IDR/USD, BI rate, and inflation, that were taken monthly from 2009 until 2014. This research used multiple linear regression analysis. The result indi-cates that the Dow Jones Industrial Average index, Nikkei 225 index, gold prices, and inflation give the positive effect to JCI, while Shanghai Composite index, FTSE100 index, oil prices, exchange rate IDR/USD, and BI rate give the negative effect to JCI. The next research can add some variable index of Asia Pacific countries such as: Hang Seng Index, Kospi Index, BSE index and macroeconomic indicator variables such as GDP.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to test the effect of Discounted Price, Product Quality, Brand Image, and Advertising on Purchase Intention of Levi’s Pants Jeans in Surabaya. This study used the independent variables such as discount price, product quality, brand image and advertising while the dependent variable is Purchase Intention. It took 82 respondents that were selected by using Judgment Sampling Technique. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regressions and using analysis tools of SPSS version 16.00. The results showed that Discounted Price, Product Quality, Brand Image and Advertising have positive and significant effect on Purchase Intention. The implication was that jeans product with good quality and good image, while need to be advertised need to be leveraged with pricing strategy leading to reducing price.

Abstract

This study discusses the use of e-commerce and m-commerce by female entrepreneurs, the majority was housewives. This study uses a qualitative method for exposing a phe-nomenon and the behavior that occurs. It uses descriptive design which allows for the study of profound and piercing the target. Thus, this research modle is the linear snowball to get 100 female entrepreneurs who do business with e-commerce and m-commerce. The findings show that some female entrepreneurs take advantage of e-commerce for retail sales, wholesalers, agents and distributors of a product / service and also in some remote areas, e-commerce, they can help some entrepreneurs to jump-start their business in a way to explore e-commerce for looking for a supplier. Utiliza-tion of e-commerce is relatively easier for the beginner entrepreneurs in the condition of contacts through mobile that is a demand for the products they offer. It suggests that further study can be done discussing the similar e-commerce which aims to support the emergence of women entrepreneurs as a reinforcement of the household finances with-out abandoning their responsibilities as a mother

Abstract

Brand awareness is one of the factors which can make the consumers identify, under-stand and recognize a specific brand and finally can lead them to have a repurchase in-tention towards the products. Besides that, the reaction of consumer‟s sense about the product also affects consumer‟s decision to purchase the product. A consumer decisions to purchase may also be affected by the perceived value or benefits of the product, and then finally consideration to purchase the product. This study attempts to analyze the relevance of brand awareness, attitude, and perceived value of the product repurchase intention. This research took the sample of 100 consumers of instant noodles with its trade mark of Sarimi in East Surabaya. The results shows that brand awareness, atti-tude, and perceived value both partially and simultaneously affect repurchase intention of the instant noodle with Sarimi trade mark in East Surabaya.

Abstract

Nowadays, the economy has been growing so rapidly that it makes people think of get-ting their income beyond the salary they get from their work. One way to get it is by investing. However, when investing, they find a few things to note such as financial literacy, investment experience, and risk tolerance. This is to minimize the risks as we accept, for example scams. This purpose of study is to examine the effect of financial lite-racy, experienced regret, and risk tolerance on investment decision making among socie-ty in Surabaya and Madura. This study used purposive, convenience and snow-ball sampling method. There were 185 respondents taken by questionnaire and survey me-thod. To test the hypotheses, this study employed descriptive analysis and multiple re-gression analysis. Moreover, by performing multiple regression analysis, this study found that only the experienced regret have significant effect on investment decision making, but risk tolerance and overconfidence did not affect the investment decision.

Abstract

This study attempts to analyze the impact of Corporate Social Responsibilty and Envi-ronmental Performance in PROPER (Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan dalam pengelolaan Lingkungan Hidup/Performance Appraisal Evaluation Program in Life Environment) on Financial Performance. It used 20 manufacturing companies taken from annual report 2010 - 2012 of the manufacturing companies listed on Indonesian Stock Exchange and they also participated in PROPER since 2010. The data were ana-lyzed using the statistical method of multiple linear regressions. The results indicated that Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Performance has a significant effect on Financial Performance. It also showed that Corporate Social Responsibility has no significant effect on Financial Performance, while the Environmental Performance has a significant effect on Financial Performance. The impact of the results suggest that investor should consider Environmental Performance when invest on manufacture com-panies on Indonesia.

Abstract

Entrepreneurship education will be integrated into the education system has the potential to support economic growth. Sector of entrepreneur should start to grow, not only for the general public, but also among the students. On the other side, there were many differences in the Personal Entrepreneurial Competency (PEC) among students between state univer-sities and private universities. Target of research was description potency and intention of student in private university and state university. The purpose of study were: (1) Identify PEC and entrepreneurial intentions of students on state and private universities in Jember; (2) Identify the factors driving and inhibiting the development of an entrepreneurial cul-ture in state and private universities in Jember. The research method using the PEC and Intention Entrepreneurship. Results: Internal Push Factors identified in the role of Univer-sities. Internal Inhibiting Factors identified as the weak role of the Universities, while inhi-biting factors external, public perception that the entrepreneurial future is uncertain. From the results of the mapping of potential entrepreneurial ability, most of the students in the state and private universities in Jember on various items in the position enough ratings or moderate. Entrepreneurship intention is influenced by Openness to experience, Self Effica-cy, Subjective Norm, Traits, where each variable is different effects in Universities.

Abstract

The business people and their behavior need to understand their companies’ demand in the environment. They should also think about the whole stakeholders for manag-ing their business. Businessmen need to understand when a company operating there is a responsibility for stakeholder. In this research stakeholder are employees, suppliers, government, and environmental. The purpose of this research was to ex-amine the effects of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) toward the financial per-formance of a mining company in term of Return on Assets and Asset Turn Over. The analysis technique is using Multiple Regression Analysis (MRA). The result of this research shows that Corporate Social Responsibility affects Return on Asset and Asset Turn Over on a mining company. For that reason, business people should also pay attention to this factor in their business.
