Abstract

AbstractProblems in this research are politeness in English students class XI odd semester SMK Satu Nusa 2 Bandar Lampung academic year 2016-2017. Modesty speech is assessed based on some maxim, maximal admission, acceptance, generosity, humility, consent, and the maxim of conclusions. The purpose of research is to know the deviation of politeness in terms and views of the deviation factor. The research used descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class XI who used 219 and only took 35 students as core subjects taken with proportionate stratified random sampling. The research data were collected by interviewing assignments and analyzed by qualitative analysis. The results showed there are deviations of politeness in students. Students are judged to be less wise speech so that develops the resource person. The deviation factor is being less able to formulate interview questions, narrow student vocabulary, and weak student interviewing abilities.Keywords: Modesty, language, interview

Abstract

The thesis is entitled” The Lexical Innovation of Javanese in Pringsewu Regency Lampung: A Geolinguistics Study”. The research method used in this thesis is descriptive method. The method and technique of data gathering used is observation method, interview thecnique, and recording technique respectively. This research is carried out in 10 village from districts of Pringsewu Regency. The result of research shows that innovations are found, innovation include phonetic innovation, morphological innovation and lexical innovation. The phonetic innovation is raised as much as 50 words found 111 variants. The vocal form with the greatest number. Beside that, it also found the addition of replacement consonant, vocal, and indonesian loan word. The research showed 19 loan word.  In morfolofical found prefiks, sufiks, and reduplication word. 9 word raised in lexical innovation. Based of the map innovation happened at the same districts.

Abstract

In doing communication, polite behaviour is very influence in creating comfortableatmosphere. Polite behaviour can be in the form of verbal and nonverbal. Thisresearch described the positive and negative strategi that related to the unity of theform of direct speech at STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu. This research wassosiopragmatic study with qualitative descriptive approach. The data analysistechnique used in his research was interactive model which was contain of datareduction, data serve, and conclution or verification. Based on the result of theresearch, the politeness strategy in the direct speech which was applied at STKIPMuhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung were using positive and negative strategy.Based on the analysis result, they were some factors that influenced the positivestrategy happen. They were as follows: kind of attention, the solidarity betweenperson, the feeling of being appreciated and giving appreciation, giving praise,avoiding incompatibality and creating jokes. Meanwhile, the negative strategy wereinfluenced by some factors. They were as follows: indirect speech, pesimistic attitude,reducing coercion, using passive voice, apology, and using plural form. The positiveand negative strategy that happened was the effort to create the politeness in doingcommunication.Key Note: Strategi Kesantunan, tuturan direktif, sosiopragmatik

Abstract

AbstractOn its using, language has diverse variation. Language in formal situation will be different from the informal one. Likewise the language for advertisement is different from scientific paper. In Sociolinguistics, the application of a language variant is called as Register. The food recipe discourse is one type of the register for it has specific characteristics in particular grammar and structure. This writing tries to review the application of the register in Blue Band  food recipe discourse. The result of the research indicates that it comprises vocabularies, morphology of derivatives and phrases, and also clauses. The finding register shows ingredients, tools, processing, and, serving.Keyword: register, food recipe discourse, sociolinguistics, vocabulary, morphology

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of the research is to know and describe the students ability and the obstacles that students experience in writing the description text. The research method used is a quantitative descriptive method. The population of this study is the students of class VII which amounted to 296. The sample of this study as many as 30 students. The sampling technique uses Stratified Proportional Random Sampling. The main technique is to use assignment technique to get the student ability data in writing the description text. The results showed that the ability to write a description text has a value of 72.33 from and got enough category. In the aspect of the title reaching an average of 79.8, the opening aspect reaches an average of 88.7, the content aspect reaches an average of 78.53, the cover aspect reaches an average of 56.2, the vocabulary aspect reaches the average, Average of 70.53, the sentence structure aspect reaches the value of 62.7 and on the aspect of the EBI General Guidelines reaches a value of 50.57. So the lowest aspect in writing the description text is the average cover aspect that is 56.2 and the highest aspect in writing the description text are the opening aspects which reach an average of 88.7.Keyword: writing ability, descriptive text

Abstract

This paper is determine representation about culture in the Hujan Bulan Juni novel by Sapardi Djoko Damono. This paper based in the issue that comes from the novel related to the chracteristic of Javanese and Manado culture. The aim of this paper is to describe culture representation that shows by the concept of this novel. This explanation based on the theory about Javanese people’s characteristic from Geertz, Manado people’s characteristic from Sumampow and concept culuture identity from Hall and Woodward. The result of  the analysis shows that the novel displays the cultural characteristics of Java wich is different for each character. The ‘ethok-ethok’ (pretend), ‘wedi’(afraid),’ isin’(shame), dan ‘sungkan’ attitude displayed by the character that has the constancy of identity. While being open, straight foward and aggressive attitude. While Manado characters are represented through characters steady by showing agrressive attitude, overt, brave, culinary practice, character name and Christianity. Different cultural characteristics to each person indicate the liquid identity.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine whether Cooperative Integread Reading and Composition (CIRC) learning model can improve the students’ ability in telling impressive experiences. The esearcher used classroom action research design with data retrieval method on the test in the form of test. The learning model used is Cooperative Integread Reading and Composition (CIRC). Subjects in this study are the first semester students of class VII, MTs Negeri Sukoharjo academic year 2017/2018 which amounted to 34 students. From the result of data analysis, it is known that telling impressive experience in writing in cycle I obtained the average value of 72,74 and the complete student reaches 64,7% while in cycle II it is obtained the average 80,55 and student complete 100%. Thus the use of appropriate learning model such CIRC can improve students learning ability in telling the written story.Key Words: Cooperative Integread Reading and Composition (CIRC), written story.

Abstract

The difficulties in speech text writing were faced by the students. They were confused inwriting the text creatively. It was indicated from the students less vocabulary then madethe students less writing. Students’ vocabularies such as synonym, antonym, andlanguage style were improving students’ skill in speech text writing. Through thosevocabularies, the students could choose and use it, then got good quality in writing.This research was reviewing vocabularies implementation in speech text writing. Abstract

Abstract Poetry is the oldest literary form. It emerges with the presence of man. The study of poetry focused on the physical structure and inner structures of poetry. This study used a descriptive qualitative method. Stylistic analysis approach: (1) systematic analysis of linguistic system of literary works, and continued to the interpretation of literary characteristics, interpretation directed to the total meaning; (2) studying a number of distinctive features that distinguish one system from another. The poem "Tuhan"Aku Cinta Padamu” sounds / a / who dominates, the atmosphere of longing, emotion, surrender, willingness and peace. Repetition of rhymes in words in poems, visual images, movements, feelings, metaphors, and repositories. The theme of God, the mandate for self-introspection in order to improve themselves for reaching the God’s willing.Keywords: literary, poetry, stylistic

Abstract

Abstract This paper examines female subjectivity contained in the short-story "Cenana" by Oka Rusmini. This short story is part of a collection of short-stories "Sagra" which tells the efforts of female protagonists out of oppression patriarchal system. The method used in this research is feminist study. This study is based on the female subjectivity approach of Beauvoir reinterpreted by Tori Moi. The short-story of "Cenana" shows womens dominant issues in the depiction of womens experiences in an attempt to challenge the patriarchal system. The results of the analysis show that the female protagonist character is presented as a subjectivity that plays the body as an important role in its relation to male characters within the project of heterosexuality.Keyword: Oka Rusmini, female subjectivity, body, short-story.
