Abstract

Novel Ayat-ayat Cinta karya Habiburrahman El Shirazy dapat disebut sebagai novel pembangun jiwa . Karena penulis mengemas cerita penuh hikmah dengan bahasa yang sangat indah dengan dikaitkan dengan ayat-ayat suci Al-Qur’an yang dapat menyentuhkan hati orang mukmin.Dalam novel tersebut membuka mata hati pembaca, mengapa orang harus melakukan poligami. Tentu ada alasan yang membuat orang harus melakukannya. Contoh tokoh Fahri bukan orang yang hobi beristri dua tetapi karena kewajiban moral untuk menolong Maria dan dirinya dari ancaman penjara. Novel tersebut juga bisa dijadikan perbandingan untuk perilaku Syariah bagi kaum hawa dalam berpakaian ,mandi, dan dalam berpacaran dalam tuntunan Islami. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karya sastra berupa novel merupakan sarana yang sangat baik untuk membentuk akhlak siswa SMA dengan hikmah / amanat yang terkandung dalam novel yang dibacanya. Oleh karena itu, guru sastra perlu mengadaptasikan pembelajaran novel atas sastra demi perbaikan dan penggairahan pembelajaran sastra di SMA.Keywords: Novel, pembelajaran sastra, sastra Islam

Abstract

This article is based on the results of the Mini Research by topic; Interference lexicase Jambi Malay Indonesian Use of Oral (Descriptive-Analytic Study of Environmental Conversation Students in Public Elementary School 47 Jambi City). The study focused on lexical interference Jambi Malay to Indonesian spoken in conversation communicating students in four situations, namely: in the teaching-learning process, while playing with peers, communicating with parents and teachers in the school environment, and when communicating with officers schools and parents within the school environment. Data taken by direct observation of events between students conversation, students and parents, students and teachers, and students and school officials at environment State Primary School No. 47 City of Jambi. The aim is to describe the forms of lexical interference, mixed code, and transfer of student speech codes in the context of the above four. Once the data is described based on observations/student observation and recording conversations, for grouped data ferifikated and then analyzed using Miles and Huberman technical. The results show that, more informal context of communication the more likely the occurrence of interference. Elementary School Students 47 City of Jambi set in B1 regional languages do more lexical interference in official and unofficial conversations. Lexical interference that occurs more dominant in the change of the vowels / a / to the vowel sound / o / which lies at the end of the word.Keywords: lexical interference, Jambi Malay, Indonesian language spoken

Abstract

The reality is that many people who continue to use her native language (mother tongue) in a new pluralistic society because they have difficulty learning a new language and other reasons, namely the origin of language he used is still used by local communities.Village Water Gedong Bandarlampung a village inhabited by the Java community as a participant migrants since 1967. They live in groups in a village or a district. In daily life he uses the language of origin (mother tongue) them, namely the Java language. However, he is faced with the environment of other villages who speak Lampung. Therefore, in berkomunikasi with local communities to use their National language. National languages are only used in official situations and is used to communicate with other communities. The method used is descriptive method, the data collected is described as it is then analyzed and conclusions drawn from the results of analysis of existing data. Research carried out by directly observing the activity of public speaking and interviews with Air gedong Bandarlampung. Based on research results, the conclusion that the Java language is still used by people gedong Water. Such use can be seen from several domains, among others: the family domain, education domain, domain trading, domain places of worship, and government domains. The results showed that the public water Gedong Bandarlampung 80% using the Java language as their mother tongue. This is done in the concept of retention of the language as a means of communication among members of society. The analysis showed that the Java language users spread across various groups, namely children, adolescents, and parents.Keywords: native language,  Java language, sosiolinguistict

Abstract

The objective of this study is to find out the effect of the teaching approach and interest in reading on the understanding of poetry content. The teaching approach use was humanistic and structural approachs, the method used was a quasi experiment of 2x2 factorial design, the sample size was 80 student grade 8 of the public junior Highschool. The result found are as the followings; (1)The ability of student to understand comprehensively of the poetry by humanistic approach is better than by the structural approach of teaching, (2)The ability of students with the reading interest the humanistic approach is better than by the structural approach on their comprehension of the poetry contens.Keywords: understanding of poetry, teaching approach, reading interest of student.

Abstract

Quantum Learning is a Model of learning that integrates educational theories and how they are immediately implemented in the class room to form holistically unified learning content which are more relevant and meaningful to students life. This in turn is expected to improve the student responsibility for their own leaning to become more effective life-long learners. The application of the learning model may therefore be expected to enhance effective engagement of the students in the process of learning communicative skills in foreign language. The objective of the study reported here is to conduct an action research to apply the Quantum Learning Model in a Senior High School five Kendari of South East Sulawesi, to improve the students speaking skill in English, involving only the second graders, in second semester of the 2008/2009 academic year. The action research was conducted in the three cycles. The data wens collected through a pretest, a posttest, classroom observation, the students daily Journal, the students portfolio, and Interview with the students as well as the collaborator. They were then analyzed Qualitatively and Quantitatively. No improvement of the students speaking skill was observed In the first cycle, not very significant improvement was observed in the second cycle, and significant improvement was observed in the third cycles, after revision of the teaching learning process were made in first and the second cycles. This indicated the suitability of the Quantum Learning Model to improve school students speaking skills, and hence strongly recommended to be applied at school.Keywords: quantum learning, speaking skill, learning model

Abstract

This paper not only emphasizes how people of Indonesia and Japan differ in speech, but how they act anta rorang and how they follow the rules that govern the behavior of covert community members. It has been known for thousands of anecdotes about intercultural misunderstandings due to communication between people from different cultures. Because of the large number of pairs of cultures, and because of the possibility of misunderstandings based on the form of verbal and nonverbal behavior between each pair of culture as large, then there are many anecdotes about things that might be made about intercultural. One who successfully characterized the Japanese are Shinto and Buddhism teachings. Shinto is Japans original teachings of Buddhism while originating from China is delivered to Japan by Chinese traders who came to Japan and Japanese students sent at that time to study Buddhism. However, strangely it is not Buddhism developed in China, but highly developed in Korea and Japan. Buddhism later gave birth to Confucian teachings, which further the doctrine is taught by a Chinese sage, named Kong Zui. He taught moral ethics of the ideal system to build relationships within the family and the state in a harmonious unity.Keywords: Communication, behavior, Japanese, Sundane

Abstract

In the process of translating, the translator sometimes has different approaches to acquire the ideal translation. Nevertheless, the initial step and the most natural way for translator, either beginner or expert, to translate is by using the Think Aloud Protocols (TAPs). In this step, we are trying to translate a text or phrase spontaneously based on our knowledge and insight. In general, this study is to gain a better understanding of the psychological and linguistic mechanism involved in the activity of translating. Hence, this study emerges two main questions namely: (1) What kind of the decision making that commonly used in process that the translators commit and (2) In what kind of event that the pauses, hesitation, and the alteration do occurs. This leads to the idea that the study covers the discussion on the kind of decision making that translators commit when translating particular text given and at the same time will strictly focus on the pauses, hesitation, and the alteration when translating it. The research employed descriptive analytical method. The writer began by collecting data based on recording data of target interviewee, in this matter the translator. The classification of the data is based on the mental process made by translator namely: pause, alteration, and hesitation.  The study resulted several finding namely there are 22 or 48% pauses , 12 or 29% alteration, and 8 or 19%hesitations, so there are 25 mental process occurred this ext. Based on the types of target language, the data shows different when it comes to the target text from English to or vice versa. The percentage of alteration from Bahasa to English is higher  (42.73%) than English to Bahasa (31.82%). It indicates that the translator have difficulty to make adequate word or create fluent verbalization. While from English to Bahasa the result shows different. As a matter a fact, the percentage of this target language type for pause shows higher value than English to Bahasa which is 50% or 22 pauses. It indicates that the translator have less trouble to make adequate word or create fluent verbalization. The translator also put very much attention in the quality of the product by always thinking it deep.Keywords: Think Aloud Protocol (TAPs) method, memahami teks, speech.

Abstract

The research studied on the euphemism in the program of Opera Van Java Awards 2011 based on sociolinguistic approach. This research aimed at describing the functions of the euphemism in the program and the background of using the euphemism. In accordance with sociolinguistic approach, the conditions of the variety of euphemism were settings, ends, and norms. The use of euphemism in the humor discourse of Opera Van Java Awards 2011 was inclined to reveal joking and laughing because it often showed the diverse connotation; moreover it was supported by the funny actors and actress.Keywords: euphemism, humor, sociolinguistic

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan memberikan pemahaman yang lebih mendalam tentang pertentangan kelas di Indonesia dalam novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Fokus dalam penelitian ini adalah Pertentangan Kelas di Indonesia dalam Novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer, dengan subfokus: (1) Penokohan dalam novel Bumi Manusia sebagai mediator pandangan dunia Pramoedya Ananta Toer; (2) Pengelompokan tokoh-tokoh ke dalam kelas-kelas sosial berdasarkan faktor genetiknya; (3) Bentuk pertentangan kelas yang terdapat dalam novel Bumi Manusia; (4) Akibat pertentangan kelas terhadap manusia Indonesia; (5). Makna estetis pertentangan kelas dalam novel Bumi Manusia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik analisis isi. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah strukturalisme genetik. Sumber datanya adalah novel “Bumi Manusia” karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer. Kesimpulan hasil penelitian tentang pertentangan kelas di Indonesia dalam novel Bumi Manusia karya Pramoedya Ananta Toer adalah usaha pengarang dalam mengungkapkan kondisi Indonesia ditengah arus politik dan ekonomi kapitalis. Dalam arus kapitalis, Indonesia terbagi dalam kelas-kelas sosial yang saling bertentangan antara kelas penguasa dengan rakyat bawah. Di tengah pertentangan ini, lahir kelas menengah yang kehadirannya merupakan pembelah kelas bawah.Kata Kunci: Novel Bumi Manusia, analisis isi, sastra, struktur genetik, pertentangan kelas.

Abstract

The study of language in relation with social factors is very fascinating. The migration of inhabitants of one city into another causes the interaction between visitors and local population within the community, that results language contact.The research aims at describing the language variety, code switching and code mixing of Javanese speech community in Jatibening area.This research uses fields study based on qualitative approach. The result shows that the variety of codes are the type of code switching and code mixing. The codes which are found in the Javanese speech community in Jatibening are Indonesian Language (BI), Javanese language (BJ), other local languages (BL), and foreign language (BA).  The code switching in Javanese speech community results four varieties, i.e. Indonesian language, Javanese language, foreign language, and other local language. Based on the situational code-switching, the language change happens because of (1) the change of setting, (2) the appearance of other participants, (3) the change of topic. On the other hand, based on metaphorical code-switching, the language change takes place because the participants want to emphasize on something. Code mixing happens because of (1) the limitation of the code usage and (2) the use of more popular terms.Keywords: language variety, code switching, code mixing
