Abstract

The Feature and the style of liberal democratic system of individualism, was more apparent on the implementation of the Indonesia elections in 2009. Those could be observed by the implementation of multi-party system, direct election system, the value system of “one person one vote and one value”, and culminated in the system, more campaigns held by personal than the political parties occurred in election 2009/ The implications of the pattern of liberal individualism, increasingly the candidates took most of political advertising as the mass campaign media, in streets, mass media and public places.Strategic businesses like in the real business marketing industry was used to promote the candidates and political parties as a media to get as many voter as possible. In fact the implementation was distorted, the candidate only presented their personal popularity, but not the program they had. Moreover, they placed more the image performance, position highly than the commitment and personal integrity. Additionally, considerable segmentation techniques was had more pay attention than doing communication with people. That conditions resulted in becoming public area as private area and led to public sphere as reffered by Habermas was not conducted properly.In this liberal democratic system of individualism, the most important thing is insurance the truth of informations in that was present in public sphere, So hopefully, the political advertising and marketing was able to figure out the true real position and status of candidates or political party.

Abstract

ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) faces at least two challenges, its organizational structure and its performance. In the matter of organizational structure the members debate on the possibility to change AIPA from an assembly to be a parliament. As for the performance matter the members intend to increase its support to ASEAN in achieving ASEAN community targets. Considering Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (TAC) and the ASEAN way, the basic principles of ASEAN, the writer suggest AIPA to maintain its current structure while increasing the performance of the members national parliament respectively

Abstract

Peoples known climate change as a global problem, nowadays almost peoples around the world impacted by Climate Change. Climate Change caused by the raising of greenhouse gas (ghg) concentration in the atmosfer. GHG is term which refers to several gases such as Carbondioxide (CO2), Sulfur Hexa ouride (SF6), Methane (CH4), Hidro uorocarbon (HFC), Per uorocarbon (PFC), and N2O. Climate change has several impact such as sea level rise, global warming and extreme climate. Vietnam is considered as one of the countries most affected by climate change. According World Bank survey Vietnam has been ranked among the ve countries likely to be most affected by climate change.

Abstract

Invasi Israel ke Gaza pada 8 Juli 2014 telah mengakibatkan 230 orang warga Gaza meninggal (2/3 dari mereka adalah kaum perempuan, anak- anak, para manula, dan kaum difabel), 1770 orang mengalami luka-luka, dan puluhan ribu lainnya berada di lokas pengungsian.(Republika, 19 Juli 2014, hal.7). Invasi Israel kali ini adalah yang ketiga kalinya. Invasi pertama pada 27 Desember 2008 sampai dengan 17 Januari 2009 (perang 22 hari), sedang invasi kedua pada Oktober 2012, dan yang terakhir adalah yang sedang berlangsung saat ini.Sebenarnya invasi Israel tersebut tidak dapat disebut sebagai sebuah perang, karena menampilkan dua kekuatan yang tidak seimbang. Israel memiliki kekuatan tentara aktif sebesar 176.500 orang, sedang Arab Palestina hanya memiliki pasukan para militer sekitar 56.000 orang.Dari segi kapabilitas persenjataan, Israel memiliki sekitar 300 hulu ledak nuklir, system pertahanan udara iron dome, rudal arrow, rudal patriot, pesawat tempur, helikopter, kapal perang, dan kapal selam.Sedang pejuang Palestina hanya bersenjatakan roket, bom, ranjau, mortar, dan berbagai senjata ringan. Dari segi teknologi, Israel memiliki satelit militer Ofeq dan Tec-STAR (Polaris), sedang para pejuang Hamas dan Jihad islam hanya mengandalkan data Google Earth. (Republika, 18 Juli 2014, hal 6).dari deskripsi tersebut di atas lantas muncul pertanyaan: apa yang sesungguhnya mendasari invasi Israel ke Gaza pada tahun 2014 ini ?

Abstract

Meskipun mencapai tingkat perekonomian yang tinggi, Malaysia dan Singapura merupakan contoh kegagalan teori modernisasi dalam menjelaskan munculnya demokratisasi. Alih menjadi demokratis, kedua negara ini menunjukkan performa rezim semi-demokrasi secara persisten. Dengan menggunakan literature semi-demokrasi, artikel singkat ini ingin menunjukkan karakter dasar rezim semi demokrasi di Malaysia dan Singapura. Artikel ini berpendapat bahwa di kedua negara tersebut, semi demokrasi merupakan rezim yang by design. Mencontoh model Malaysia dan Singapura, saat ini model rezim semi demokrasi by-design telah menjadi salah satu alterntif pilihan untuk mengembangkan rezim politik di beberapa negara.

Abstract

Latin America is a vast region that spread at southside of USA, from Mexico to Chile. Dominated by Catholicism, this region maintains its social and political culture inheritaged from 16th century. But by the 21st century Catholicism was challenged by the new religion. Islam is the majority religion in the Middle East and Asia slowly emerged and gets a lot of followers in Latin America. Using the qualitative analisys and library research, it is found that this religion is growing quite rapidly because of its honest and anti violence followers, as well as to be known as a religion of peace and tolerance. In today politics, religion is no longer just a private matter, it is a public concern and both are interrelated and in uence each other. Islam as the religion of minority plays a signi cant role in Latin America, including maintaining stability of society, so as the economy. Prominent Muslims also pay some political support albeit in a small scale, equals to its position as a minority.

Abstract

Indonesia is a unitary state that introducing special autonomy since 1999. This policy is outlined in MPR Decree number IV on the Guidelines of State Policy in 1999-2004 to the rst of the General Assembly 14 to 21 October 1999. However, the problem from to turn the power of the President Abdurrahman Wahid, untill President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is still being questioned. It is because the views of people on the Indonesian government in contrast to the views of the people of Papua. View of the government, autonomy is de ned as the power to control and take care of the housekeeping area, which is attached to a unitary state like any in the federation. In a unitary state, regional autonomy is more limited to the countries that form the federation. The authority to control and take care of the household in a unitary state area includes all governmental authority except some matters that are held by the central government such as international relations, justice, nance, defense and security. Meanwhile, the views of the people of Papua, autonomy means that all the demands that have the rule of law, peace, and can solve the major problems facing the people of Papua. But the decision of the DPR RI relating to the special autonomy Papua were affecting the position of the people of Papua, giving rise to their desire for independence. Resolving these problems, some measures have been taken by the Indonesian government including: (1) Papua divided to be more two provinces; (2) the establishment of the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) as a condition for the implementation of special autonomy and (3) the provision of development funds in accordance with the special autonomy law. However, all of the policies that the central government is sometimes also lead to new con icts (such as the division of Papua that has cost the lives of the people of Papua). Why the con ict in Papua has not been resolved even though the various policies have been rati ed?

Abstract

Nowadays Japan has been known as one of the largest nancial contribution to the UN. Moreover, Japan has many times sent its military forces, Self Defence Forces (SDF) for some peace keeping mission under Peace Keeping Operation of the UN, either. In its situation, Japan feels it
is really unfair, because Japan has done some important contribution and role for the existence of UN operation, but poorly, Japan is not a member of Security Council Permanent Member with its ‘veto’ privilege yet. So that, Japan asks members of the UN to do some reformation which it means that Japan will be have an chance to be a Security Council Permanent Member . This article will explore what has Japan been done to achieve its ‘dream’ and how its chance will be.

Abstract

In the study of international relation, Constructivism proposes an alternative way to analize international phenomenon. It evaluates that the two previous approach, Realism and Liberalism failed in explaining some policies makings by certain countries in differents issues. This approach is built above three elements, those are: relativism, subjectivism and the openness. Through these elements, constructivism tries to avoid the weakness as the positivist approach has, for instance: positivist believes that reality can only be explained by theoretical frame. Thus, the knowledge is based on deeds concepts or speech which has capability in building social constructivism.Furthermore, Constructivism tries to replace material condition to ideas as the base of international system. This is an important part of constructivism because ideas was put as the main factor on influencing state behaviours and international relations. The impact of this approach is we can find that instead of the defence and economic issues some issues, such as environmental issue, gender issue and human rights issue can determine state behaviours.

Abstract

Generally we know that countries in the Middle East is a country that still adheres monarchy and many dictator who dominate for decates. For example is Saudi Arabia, Jordania, Yemen and many else. However, after the emergence of jasmine revolutions occurred in the Middle East in 2011, it was make all changed. Started with the collapse success of dictatorial regime in Tunisia, Libya and other Middle East countries and one of them is Yemen. Yemen as a country located in the Middle East, borders with Saudi Arabia in north is also affected by the jasmine revolution. The people of Yemen nally managed to bring down the regime of Ali Abdullah Saleh who have led Yemen for 32 years at the beginning of January 2011. The revolution that occurred in Yemen would also have an impact on the political stability of other countries are neighborhood.
