Abstract

The aim ofthis research is to investigate the influence offermented banana waste (FBVV) utilization in broilerfeeding that could be enriched by starbio probiotic. Fermented FBW by Rhizopus oligosphorus was used in this study. Tests were carried out by mean of the complete randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 repetitions. In addition, variation between the treatments was observed by applying Duncant Multiple Range Test. Five treatments for each feed composition were set to without FBW (A), 20% ofFBW+O,25% starbio probiotic (8), 30% ofFBW+0,25 % starbio probiotic (e), 40% of FBW+O,25% starbio probiotic (D) and 50% of FBW+0.25% starbio probiotic (E) respectively. Results showed that FBW utilization is having very significant influence to improving broiler performance such as body weight and feed consumption (P<O.Ol) but does not provide significant effect to feed conversion (P>0,05). Therefore, the fermented banana waste could be appropriately used up to 30% ofbroilerfeed.

Abstract

The utilization of palm plantation waste as feed is constrained because of its high fiber and anti nutrition content, also lower protein content. The treatment of ammoniated palm plantation waste with long period of harvest for 7 days give the best result based on the dried content and lower fiber content. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of different frequency of feed to the dry matter intake, crude fiber, crude protein and crude fat of Ongole crossbreed cattle based on palm plantation waste feed ammoniated by urea. This research was conducted by an in - vitro method for 135 days, included 15 days of adaptation period and 120 days of data collecting. The method use in this research was Latin square 4 x 4. The treatment was different feed frequency, A = ad libitum feed, B = the feeding frequency gave twice in a day, C = the feeding frequency gave three times in a day, and D = the feeding frequency gave four times in a day. The result showed that the feeding frequency did not significantly affect (P>0,05) to dry matter intake, crude fiber, crude protein and crude fat content of Ongole crossbreed feed based on oil plantation waste ammoniated by urea

Abstract

The availability of ruminant livestock feed ingredients at region need to be inventoried, which is very important in the development of ruminants. Riau Province has the potential for very large ruminant livestock development, because it is supported by  the availability  of high local resources. Inventory of material feed  for ruminant was conducted to determine the availability of feed resources in Riau Province. Feed materials inventoried in the form of dry matter (DM) included agricultural byproducts (rice straw, corn straw, cassava leaves, sweet potato straw, soybean straw, peanut straw) and plantation byproducts (oil palm fronds and palm leaf, palm kernel cake, coconut cake, cocoa pods) located in 11 districts/cities in Riau Province. Inventory were performed by using primary and secondary data published in 2008. The data obtained were then tabulated based on the conversion rate of Ruminant Livestock Aquaculture Directorate, 2009. The results showed the largest feed ingredients availableis palm kernel cake with DM total of 592,008.57 tons/yr and the lowest was of cocoa pods 145.24 tons/yr. Total availability of DM from all sources of feed ingredients inventoried was 12.253.787,840 tons and could be used to feed ruminant Livestock of about5,237,513.687 AU.

Abstract

Spreading zeolites on litter floor of broiler house at rate of 5.0 kg/m2 increased broiler carcass percentages up to 5.41 percents. Effect of zeolites-spread litters on broiler carcass and non-carcaSs components under different floor spaces had been performed in five weeks. As many as 324 chicks of a day-old Hubbard strain were fed with rations contained 3,000 -3,100 Kcal/I<g ME and 21 %crude protein during starter period and fed with the ration contained 20% crude protein duringfinisher period. The chicks were allocated to three different floor spaces (10, 12, and 14 heads/m2) and three different zeolites-spread litters (0.0, 2.5, and 5.0 kg zeolites/m2) under completely randomized design with factor 3 x 3 and 3 replications. Parameters concerned of present research including percentages of both carcasses and non-carcass components were analyzed with analysis of variance (ANOV A) and least .significant different. Results of the preseqt research showed that there was no interaction effect between floor spaces and zeolites-spread litters on all parameters concerned. Floor spaces affected the percentages of gizzard, kidney, and spleen significantly (p<O.05) but neither carcass nor abdominal fat percentage was af.fectedby the floor space. The zeolites-spread litters only affected significantly (P<O.05) on carcass percentage. Spreading zeolites at rates of5.0 kg/m2 on litter floor resulted in the highest carcass percentage (p<O.05) while rates of 25 kg/m2 resulted the same carcass pen:entage as the rates of 0.0 kg/m2. It was concluded that spreading zeolites at rates of 5.0 kg/m2 on litter floor under different floor spaces increased can:ass percentages up to 5.41 percents.
