Abstract

Many studies have examined research collaboration related to research productivity and scientific publications. The tendency is that the higher the collaboration level, the higher the productivity. However, these studies do not always explain how the existing collaborations are formed. Even though lecturers in Indonesia have three responsibilities (Tridarma), which include education, research, and community service, these studies are also limited to the research aspect. The other two aspects are considered closely related because community service is considered as a downstream of research. Although qualitative studies can help explain the formation of research collaborations and community service, research on collaborations tends to use bibliometrics or social network analysis. This study seeks to explain the mapping and the formation of research collaborations at the X Institution, from 2020 to 2021, using bibliometric analysis combined with in-depth interviews with various stakeholders. Those years have been the initial period of using Research and Service Information Systems at the faculty level, so the availability of the data helps to describe the collaboration of research and community service at the X Institution. This mapping can be the basis for research and community service policies at the the X Institution.

Abstract

This study aims to discover hospitality management students' perspectives on using SEMESTA to improve their English skills. This study used a mixed method with a quantitative and qualitative approach. The study's respondents included 35 students of Bachelor of Applied Hospitality Management, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Brawijaya. Data were collected from questionnaires and interview guidelines. The study's findings showed that the SEMESTA (Source of English Materials Using Technology-based Application) website as a medium for learning English for Hospitality Management students is easily accessible by all devices. However, there have also been instances of website buffering when respondents used the SEMESTA website. Furthermore, respondents' perspectives on English learning materials on the SEMESTA website showed that the material presented complies with their needs and is appropriately understandable. Based on the respondents’ perspectives, the English language skills that they perceived to have improved were reading and writing skills, especially for the fun grammar, reading spot, and exploration components. Utilizing the SEMESTA website as one of the English learning materials can help students learn English independently and feel the benefits of improving their English skills even though it is a gradual process. However, a number of things still need to be developed to optimize the SEMESTA website to support the English Language learning process. First, the content and variety of material on the SEMESTA website need to be improved and supplemented so that the materials are not only dominated by reading and writing exercises but also include video or listening material to help students in improving their productive speaking skills. Also, additional features need to be made to make the website look more attractive. Lastly, a login or sign-up feature must be added to identify who is accessing the website to monitor the student learning process through the SEMESTA website.

Abstract

It is required for all educational components to use online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The flipped classroom model with social media can be an excellent way to implement the changes necessary for the modern educational environment, particularly Telegram. This study analyzed how a flipped classroom using a telegram bot for basic chemistry instruction fared during the COVID-19 outbreak. The research participants were 40 students from SMAN 1 Gondangwetan Pasuruan. They were split into experimental and control classes; each group consisted of twenty students. Using the questionnaire, also the data from the pre-test and post-test were gathered and analyzed. Data were examined using two average difference tests and descriptive quantitative percentages (Mann-Whitney test). The findings demonstrated that experimental classes improved students' cognitive learning outcomes. About 95% of the N-Gain scores were examined in the test group, compared to 70% in the control class. According to the Mann-Whitney test, the control and experiment classes are significantly different, which supported the finding with a significant value of 0.041<0.05. It has been demonstrated that the model enhances students' academic performance.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to investigate the PBA UINSA students’ preferences of Indonesian references over Arabic references, despite the fact that their theses are entirely written in Arabic. This study used a qualitative research method. The data collection tehniques performed by observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings of this study revealed that the problems faced by the students  of PBA at UINSA in choosing references were as follows: the themes and methods chosen greatly influenced the choice of references, a lack of foreign language vocabulary mastered caused students the need to use Indonesian references, and many references accessible in Indonesian language related to the learning process in Indonesia during the pandemic. Abstract

In the 14th and 15th centuries, European countries desperately needed the spice nutmeg, which was used for a variety of purposes, such as preserving fresh meat in cattle, for medical and dietary purposes, and in claims about its health and virility properties. The high demand for the commodity nutmeg opened up trade networks that stretched from Asia to Africa and Europe. Banda Naira, as a nutmeg-endemic region, has been connected for centuries. This study uses a qualitative method with a socio-historical perspective and aims to analyze the Banda nutmeg spice management model from 1945 to 2018. The research findings show that the distribution pattern of post-colonization nutmeg plantations from 1945 to 2018 was carried out by lottery, which was specifically intended for people who had families based on their necessities of life. While the management pattern of nutmeg plantations includes the harvesting of nutmeg up to the drying of nutmeg, this is carried out by smoking and drying under the hot sun in order to produce quality dried nutmeg. This nutmeg spice management model has had a huge impact on the people of the Banda Islands, both positive and negative. The positive impact is bringing prosperity to the people of the Banda Islands, but the negative impact is land grabbing, theft, and manipulation of the quality of nutmeg.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how significant and influential it is on employee performance from two variables, namely the motivation variable (x1) and the work facility variable (x2). The dominant-less dominant mix method is being used in this study at Brawijaya University's academic division of the Faculty of Administrative Sciences. An explanatory research approach is being used, using the entire population as a sample of 35 employees using linear regression data analysis techniques duplicates and interviews. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that motivation and work facilities simultaneously have a significant influence on employee performance. This is evident from the F test where the data can be seen that the F value is 7.968 > 3.28 (F table) and with a significant F of 0.002 where the significance is smaller or less than 0.05, thus it is found that motivation (x1) and facilities (x2) have an influence on performance (y). Of course, this was also justified by the related party in the interview who said that motivation and work facilities are very important, especially in supporting activities in the academic section. Without motivation at work, of course, employees will be reluctant to do work because of the rolling of the assignment letter given, whereas without facilities that support data input activities, etc. in academic activities, it will be very difficult to work on and will take a long time.
