Abstract

The third place is a place to unwind, apart from home as the first place and the office as the second place. The third place is one type of public space. Gabusan Art and Tourism Market (PSWG) is a place for art accommodation in Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta. However, in recent years, the situation of PSWG as a public space has declined and is getting worse. It is necessary to conduct research related to the character of the third place as a public space. This qualitative, grounded theory research method uses primary sources: observations and interviews, and secondary sources: literature studies with the third-place theory from Ray Oldenburg. The research variable is that the third-place functions as a public space, a social space and own good accesibility. The stages of the research process starting from secondary data processing, namely literature studies, then primary data processing, namely observations and interviews of activity actors. The research results show that PSWG as a public space is sufficient, but as a third-place it is lacking in terms of social activities and accessibility

Abstract

The Kaliyasa River is a vital means for fishermen, especially traditional fishermen who live around the river. Since the construction of the Cilacap Fishing Port, many migrants started to settle and overtime the population crowded the area uncontrollably and marginalized. This study focused on the strategy of reorganizing fishermen’s settlements with a sustainable development and waterfront development approach as well as the regulation of PERMEN no. 28 of 2015, Descriptive-qualitative method has being used to explain the conditions in the study area, The data collection using desk study and field study methods, from the findings confirmed by the theory of waterfront and sustainable development in order to obtain the right reorganizing strategy. The result of this research is a settlement reorganizing strategy that applies the principle of waterfront development. This principle is applied through social aspects by creating open public spaces, piers placement, and public counseling about river border regulations. Environmental aspects with the arrangement of trash bins on the banks of the river as well as the establishment of waste management institution, management of green open spaces, and solution for illegal buildings in river bank areas. Economic aspects by improving dock infrastructure to support fishing activities, as well as reorganizing marine product trade zone. The preservation aspect aims to preserve the identity of the Kaliyasa river as water transportation route and fishermen's settlements.

Abstract

Learning activities not only use a single classroom however classrooms, laboratories, libraries, etc. Therefore, the relationship between spaces in the school building needs to be concern so that communication and interaction between students and teachers can be conducted smoothly. The research tended to verify the connectivity and integrity of space syntax in the Al-Biruni Cerdas Mulia school building located in the Bumi Panyileukan Complex, Bandung, West Java. Two different levels of education degree were conducted in the building by sharing the room facilities. The analysis method used the depthmapX v.055 software to see the connectivity and the calculation of integrity values in the forms of total depth, average depth, and relative asymmetry. Testing the program and calculating the values resulted in 21 effective rooms on the first floor and 11 ineffective rooms on the second floor of the school building. Through the theory of syntax space, the  problems regarding the spatial arrangement, layout, and circulation in buildings could be resolved, and communication and interaction between students and teachers could be more effective

Abstract

The concept of eco-culture has a sustainability paradigm that emphasizes the harmony of humans and ecosystems. The target is the strengthening of local characters through the study of local genius, as well as the application of science and technological innovation in managing the potential for improving the quality of the environment and humans. Increasing the economy through tourism is its added value. Kampung Baran has a unique ethnographic and geographical setting inhabited mostly by low-income people. The potential that can be developed is agriculture which is now slowly starting to be abandoned. This study examines the application of the eco-culture concept which consists of an image of space, an image of building, and an idealized concept of place for the development of Kampung Baran. Through a descriptive-phenomenological study, the researcher explores the physical-spatial-architectural and economic-social-cultural phenomena of Kampung Baran as the object of study. Furthermore, the study of the application of the concept of eco-culture in the village of Baran was carried out through a SWOT analysis. The results obtained indicate that the concept of eco-culture can be applied in Kampung Baran by emphasizing on strengthening the noble values of the culture of agrarian communities in the expression of tangible and intangible heritage that is adaptive to cultural dynamics and strengthening and developing local potential.

Abstract

Parametric design is a new architectural design approach which is developing for the last decade. This development is supported by the advance of digital architecture technology, allowing designers to engage in complex geometry modelling and design optimization efficiently using parametric design software. One of parametric design software, Rhinoceros-Grasshopper, has been interconnected to several building simulation packages, which gives new usefulness for architectural design process. Parametric design is likely to be a standard skill that should be possessed by Architect in the future. This study discusses parametric design application for architectural design process and its trend for the context of architectural education in Indonesia. It aims to give a strategy and model instruction for parametric design teaching, especially in the university level. Literature review and Youtube Channel exploration were conducted to discuss the implementation of parametric design. In order to examine the trend of parametric design in Indonesia, the data analysis was conducted based on channel analytics from one of Youtube channel promoting parametric design and survey aiming architecture lecturer.

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the extent to which the spatial transformation due to the renovation of cultural heritage buildings can affect the physical building and the user's territory, as well as its influence on the concept of architecture as the language of development. This study uses a qualitative method. Data was collected by field observations, interviews, and literature review. The sampling was carried out using a non-random or purposive type of sample. The results of the analysis show that there has been a physical and territorial transformation in Gedung Sate, Bandung as an effect of the construction of the Gedung Sate Museum. The control role of stakeholders also greatly influences the extent to which this transformation takes place. Not only interior elements, space layouts, as well as facade elements, and user territories have changed. Furthermore, the existing transformation more or less also affects development in the Gedung Sate area, and for the city of Bandung in general. Where the role of Gedung Sate's architecture is now becoming broader and more abstract. Not only becomes an artifact, but also becomes something more economic and commercial (commodification).

Abstract

Architecture is a place to move comfortably. The mosque is the four worshippers of muslims who should have an optimal level of comfort. This study aims to examine the comfort performance of the prayer room of the Great Mosque of Pati based on applicable theories and standards, then design based on the results of a comfort study to get a prayer room design that meets the comfort criteria for its users. The research was conducted by dividing the prayer room into 16 points. At each point, 3 measurements are carried out, namely thermal, lighting, and noise measurements both in the morning, afternoon, afternoon, and evening. From the measurement results, it is known that the average temperature in the worship room is 27.4 °C, meaning that the temperature is hotter than the standard of comfort (<27 °C). The average exposure is 103.5 lux, meaning the lighting is darker than required (200 lux). The average noise is 61.7 dB, meaning that the situation inside the worship room is noisier than the maximum noise level allowed for the worship space (55 dB).
