Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan proses sains siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran langsung (Direct Instruction) dengan model pembelajaran konvensional pada materi pengklasifikasian phylum arthropoda. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan desain kontrol grup tes awal dan tes akhir. Penelitian telah dilaksanakan pada kelas X1 menggunakan model pembelajaran direct instruction dan kelas X2 menggunakan model konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes pemahaman konsep, keterampilan proses sains dan angket. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan memberikan tes kemampuan awal siswa (pretes), tes kemampuan akhir siswa (postes), data peningkatan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan proses sains (N-Gain), dan data tanggapan siswa terhadap model pembelajaran direct instruction yang diukur dengan angket. Hasil uji statistik untuk pemahaman konsep diperoleh hasil t-hitung 5,734, sedangkan untuk keterampilan proses sains diperoleh hasil t-hitung 24,90 dengan nilai t-tabel 1,645. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat peningkatan pemahaman konsep dan keterampilan proses sains siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran direct instruction dengan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Kata Kunci: Model Pembelajaran Langsung (Direct Instruction), Pemahaman Konsep, dan Keterampilan Proses Sains. This study aimed at improving students’ understanding of science concepts and processing skills by implementing Direct Instruction model and conventional learning model on the classification of the phylum arthropods material. This study used experimental method with pre-test and post-test control group design. It has been conducted at class X1 as experimental class (implementing Direct Instruction) and class X2 as control class (implementing conventional learning model). The data were collected by pre-test and post-test, and also test of science processing skills as well as questionnaires. The improvement of students’ understanding of science concepts and processing skills were analyzed by using N-Gain, while the data of students’ response toward the implementation of direct instruction were measured by using questionnaire. The result of t-test for students’ understanding of the concept was 5.734, whereas for science processing skills the t-test was 24.90 with the t-table 1.645. The conclusion was that there was improvement on students’ understanding of science concepts and processing skills that were taught by using direct instruction model compare to those who were taught by using conventional learning model. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk (1) mengetahui waktu penetasan pertama dan terakhir telur penyu belimbing (Dermochelys coriacea), dan (2) mengetahui persentase penetasan telur penyu belimbing (Dermochelys coriacea) yang telah dipasarkan masyarakat kawasan Lampuuk Kecamatan Lhoknga Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Kegiatan penelitian dilakukan pada kawasan penangkaran penyu pantai Lampuuk Kecamatan Lhoknga Kabupaten Aceh Besar, pada tanggal 26 Desember 2012 pukul 10.00 WIB sampai tanggal 28 Februari 2013 pukul 21.00 Wib. Jumlah telur yang diperlakukan 20 butir, dalam sarang yang digali sedalam 75 cm. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen, yang memperlakukan kegiatan penetasan langsung di kawasan penangkaran Pantai Lampuuk Kecamatan Lhoknga Kabupaten Aceh Besar. Analisis waktu yang digunakan dalam penetasan dilakukan secara deskriptif, sedangkan jumlah telur yang menetas dianalisis dengan persentase. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah telur pertama menetas pada pukul 18.00 WIB Tanggal 28 Febrauri 2013 hari ke 64 membutuhkan waktu 1544 jam setelah perlakuan, dan penetasan terakhir terjadi pada pukul 21.00 WIB hari ke 64 tanggal 28 Februari 2013 setelah perlakukan membutuhkan waktu 1547 jam. Persentase telur yang menetas adalah 85 % (17 butir telur), sedangkan yang tidak menetas adalah 15 % (3 butir). Kesimpulan diperoleh adalah persentase telur yang menetas sangat tinggi, dan waktu penetasan telur pertama memiliki waktu lebih cepat jika dibandingkan dengan penetasan telur perlakuan yang lain. Kata Kunci: Penyu, Dermochelis dan Pantai Lampuuk The purposes of this study are to (1) know the first and last time of eggs hatched of leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), and (2) know the percentage of eggs hatching of leatherback turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), which has marketed by community of Lampuuk in Lhoknga district Aceh Besar. The research activities carried on Lampuuk beach turtle breeding area in Lhoknga, Aceh Besar, on 26 of December 2012 at 10.00 WIB until 28 of February 2013 at 21.00 WIB. The amount of treated eggs were 20 eggs, put in nests dug as deep as 75 cm. The method used was the experimental method at hatchery breeding areas in Lampuuk Beach, Lhoknga, Aceh Besar. The analysis of time spent in the hatchery done descriptively, while the number of eggs hatched analyzed by using percentage. The results showed that the first eggs hatched at 18:00 WIB on 28 of February 2013, day 64th. It needed time about 1544 hours after treatment. The last eggs hatched at 21.00 WIB day 64th on 28 of February 2013 after treatment. It needed time about 1547 hours. The percentage of eggs that hatched was 85% (17 eggs), whereas there was 15% (3 items) of the eggs did not hatch. The conclusion were the percentage of eggs that hatched was very high and the time for the first eggs hatched was faster than the other ones on the treatment. Abstract

Milkweed (Calotropis gigantea) flower has some important compounds in wound healing such as alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, karbohydrates, glikosides, phenols, saponins, protein and amino acid, and calothropin. The aim of this study was to determine the clinical and histopathological effect of milkweed extract ointment towards wound healing in mice (Mus musculus). The research was carried out in January to August 2018. This study used experimental method with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five treatments: betadine oinment as positive control, vaseline oinment as negative control, and three experimental treatment with milkweed extract ointments in 5%, 10% and 15% concentration. Every treatment contains of 6 mice each, which were wounded with 1 cm diameter excision on its back after injected with ketamine anesthesia. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Varians (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan Test α 0,05.  The clinical result showed that the fastest time of wound diameter reduction found on experimental treatment with 15% milkweed extract ointment. The histopathological result showed that the highest fibroblast number found on the experimental treatment with 15% milkweed extract ointment. It was concluded that the milkweed extract ointment have an effect on wound healing in mice clinically and histopathologically with 15% concentration being the best in promoting wound healing.

Abstract

The research aims to determine improvement of student achievement through the application of active learning model type Card Match at SMPN 1 Indrapuri Aceh Besar. The method used is quasi experiment with experimental design used is One Group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study were students of class VII4 which amounted to 24 students, sample determination was done by random sampling. Data collection was done by written test in the form of multiple choice questions which amounted to 25 questions. Data analysis using t test formula at significant level 0,05. The results showed that the average pretest value is 39.03 while the average posttest value is 77.11 with the N-gain value of 38.07. Analysis of t test at significant level α = 0.05 with degrees of freedom 23 of the distribution table obtained tcount value higher than the ttable value of 23.64> 1.71. The conclusion of this research is the application of active learning model of Index Card Match type can improve student achievement of SMPN 1 Indrapuri Aceh Besar on the concept of motion system.

Abstract

Utilization of the learning environment in biology canprovidedirect learning experiences to the students by observing natural phenomena in accordance with the material being studied, which is expected to create the conditions that can develop students' interest and motivation to be active in the learning process. This study aims to fine out the students improvement and students learning activities by using plants in the school environment as a natural medium to the concept of plant diversity in SMA and MA at districts Montasik. The research was conducted at several SMA and MA at districts Montasik. The population and samples in this study was SMA and MA at districts Montasik. The data were collected by using test and observation. The hypothesis was tested by using t-test. The data obtained tcount was 16.94. ttable was 2.086, thus tcount ttable or 16.94  2.086. So Ho is rejected, while Ha is accepted. Showed that means the use of plants in the environment of the school as a natural medium on the material plant diversity can improve student learning outcomes. From the results of observation of students learning activity, it can be seen that the use of the school environment as a natural media can enhance students' learning activities.

Abstract

Pyricularia grisea is a pathogenic fungus which causing rice blast disease that affected leaf, stems and rice panicles of rice plant. A possible option to reduce the use of synthetic chemical fungicide in managing the blast disease is by using plant natural active ingredients to inhibit the mycelial growth of Pyricularia grisea. This research evaluated the potential uses of bay leaf, tropical almond leaf, and kaffir lime leaf extract in inhibiting pathogenic fungus Pyricularia grisea. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 replications and 4 treatments were used in this research.  Work procedures included leaf extracts preparation, pathogenic fungi rejuvenation, growth media preparation and isolates plantation on PDA media. The parameter in this study was the diameter of the Pyricularia grisea inhibition zone. Data was analysed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 95% confidence interval with Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5% level (α = 0.05) as post hoc test if significant differences between treatments were detected using SPSS 16.0. The results of this study indicated that the highest concentration (100%) of each plant leaf extract was able to inhibit the mycelial growth of the pathogenic fungus Pyricularia grisea. The zone of inhibition of bay leaf extract was 1.77 mm, tropical almond leaf extract was 2.33 mm and lime leaf extract was 1.52 mm. The largest diameter of the inhibition zone was found on media with tropical almond leaf extract.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of aloe vera leaf extract (Aloe vera L.) in inhibiting the growth of Candida albicans fungi through in vitro. Aloe vera (Aloe vera L.) is a plant that can overcome digestive problems caused by fungi. One of the pathogenic fungi causing gastrointestinal infections is C. albicans. This research was conducted in Microbiology Laboratory of FMIPAUnsyiah which lasted from April to May 2010. A Completely Randomized Design (RAL) consisted of 5 treatments and 5 replications is used in this study. The treatment was arranged on P0 = 20 μl distilled water, P1 = aloe vera leaf extract concentration 100%, P2 = aloe leaf extract concentration of 50% and P3 = aloe leaf extract concentration of 25%. Aloe vera leaf extract (Aloe vera L.) was given to each treatment at 20 μl. The parameter observed was the diameter of the inhibit zone formed. The data were analyzed using Variant Analysis (ANOVA), then continued with the Smallest Significant Difference (BNT) test. The results of this study indicated that the presence of aloe vera leaf extract (Aloe vera L.) could inhibit the growth of C. albicans. The higher the concentration of aloe vera leaf extract (Aloe vera L.), the higher the ability of it to inhibit C. albicans. The diameter of the inhibitory zone formed will enlarge along with the increasing of the concentration of aloe vera leaf extract (Aloe vera L.). The extract concentrations of 100%, 50% and 25% had their resistance capability of 0.50 mg, 0.24 mg and 0.20 mg of nistatin antibiotics.

Abstract

The study was conducted in the area of Gunung Leuser National Park Ketambe, Southeast Aceh, in January 2016. This study aimed (1) to find out the activity patterns of orangutan (Pongo abelii), and (2) to determine the dominant activities of orangutan (Pongo abelii) in Gunung Leuser National Parks Ketambe Southeast Aceh district. The data were collected by using Focal Animal Sampling Method and recording of data using One Zero Sampling Method. The research found that there were three orangutans (Pongo abelii), and the activities of orangutan (Pongo abelii) were eating 13 % , moving 4 % , sitting 21 % , standing 5 % , sleeping 0 % , looking for lice 4 % , swinging 7 %, hanging in tree 21 % , playing 0 % , feeding 25 %, breast-feeding and rolling 0 % 0 %. Based on these activities, the most dominant activity carried out by Pongo abelii in the Gunung Leuser National Park Ketambe Southeast Aceh Regency was foraging.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar dan sikap siswa serta hubungan sikap siswa dan hasil belajar siswa dengan penerapan pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan melalui metode inkuiri pada materi pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan di SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan jumlah sampel 25 siswa, untuk mengetahui aspek pemahaman (kognitif) menggunakan Ngain dan uji t, sedangkan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pemahaman dan sikap, serta sikap dan perilaku digunakan uji korelasi Product Moment pada taraf nyata= 0,05. Hasil penelitian pada kelas eksperimen diketahui bahwa pada aspek kemampuan kognitif siswa (nilai) dalam pemahaman konsep terjadi peningkatan Korelasi pemahaman dan sikap siswa memiliki hubungan yang cukup. Korelasi sikap dan perilaku memiliki hubungan yang sangat kuat. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah penerapan pendidikan karakter peduli lingkungan dengan menggunakan metode inkuiri dapat meningkatkan pemahaman dan menyebabkan perubahan sikap dan perilaku siswa sehingga menjadi sadar dan peduli lingkungan pada konsep pencemaran dan kerusakan lingkungan di SMP Negeri 6 Banda Aceh. Kata Kunci: Pendidikan Karakter, Metode Inkuiri, Sikap dan Perilaku This study aims at determining the increase of students’ learning outcomes and attitudes, and also the relations between students’ attitudes and students’ learning outcomes after implementating environmental care character education through inquiry method in the concept of pollution and environmental damage at SMPN 6 Banda Aceh. This study used experimental method with the sample of 25 students. The improvement analysis was using N-gain and t-test, To determine the relationship between understanding and attitudes, and the attitudes and behavior of the students, the researcher analyzed the data by using product moment correlation on the level of significant 0.05. The results obtained by the experimental class students noted that the aspect of cognitive ability of students (grades) in understanding the concept was increased. The correlation between understanding and attitudes of the students have enough relationship. Meanwhile, the correlation between attitudes and behaviors have a very strong relationship. The conclusion of this research were the implementation of environmental care character education through inquiry methods can improve the understanding of students toward the concept and lead to changes in attitudes and behavior. Students become aware of and concerned about the environment in the concept of pollution and environmental damage. Keywords: Character Education; Inquiry Method; Student Attitudes; Behavior

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to improve science processing skills of students of SMPN 8 Banda Aceh in the concept of pollution and environmental degradation by using project-based learning. An experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design was used in this study. The population was all students of class VII SMPN 8 Banda Aceh which consisted of 5 classes with total number was 130 students. The samples were selected by using simple random sampling technique. There were 44 students from VII-1 acted as control group and class VII-2 acted as experimental group. The data were gathered by using pre-test and post-test. The research instruments used were essay questions to measure science processing skills, student’s work sheet, and work assessment’s rubrics based on science processing skills. The data then analyzed by calculating the post-test and pre-test gain and t-test to compare between the experimental class and control class. They were analyzed by using independent sample t-test. The results showed that there were improvement in the average of science processing skills of students in project-based learning’s class for about 51.86 (high) and conventional learning class for about 38.02 (medium). T-test results obtained as follows: tvalue was 2.680 and ttable was 2.021, so tvalue>ttable. The conclusion was the implementation of project-based learning in the concept of pollution and environmental degradation improved the science processing skills of student of SMPN 8 Banda Aceh.
