Abstract

This paper answers the question of how the construction of the meaning of the Peusijuek tradition is available in Aceh culture. Two important things that will support this thesis is how the mind and culture of Islam and Aceh combined into one formulated in a way. Therefore, how the processes, forms and philosophical meanings of the Peusijuek tradition available in Aceh culture will be discussed in this paper. The results of this study indicate that the Peusijuek tradition is one of the relics of Hindu Culture in Aceh. According to historical records, the implementation of the Peusijuek tradition before the sending of Islam still uses certain mantras and prayers. However, since the arrival and development of Islam in Aceh, the Peusijuek tradition has been changed by incorporating Islamic teachings in it, such as prayer, prayer, and other Islamic teachings. That is why the Peusijuek tradition in Aceh can still be up to now. In practice, the Peusijuek tradition is carried out by religious leaders and elders of Aceh, such as ulama, tengku, ustadz and ustadzah. This is done because the Peusijuek tradition is considered a sacred Acehnese procession. The practice of Peusijuek tradition in Aceh is carried out in religious and cultural activities, such as performing pilgrimage, marriage, circumcision, prayer, arena, buying new vehicles, and so forth. The purpose of this Peusijuek tradition is to appeal for the satisfaction, peace, happiness, and glory of the guests.

Abstract

Abstract

This paper explores some of the ways in which the connection between people and space has changed among the Suku Asli (‘Indigenous People’) living in Sumatra. The eastern coasts of Sumatra, Indonesia, are low and marshy lands, which are divided by numerous brackish rivers, and covered by vast mangrove forests. This region was a largely unpopulated area where some orang asli (‘indigenous’) groups and a few Malay people lived before the colonial era. ‘Suku Asli’ are one of the orang asli groups who were known as ‘Orang Hutan’ (Forest People) in the past - they lived along the banks as well as estuaries of rivers. Although their space was always somewhat of a ‘niche’ and did not exhibit any clear boundaries in terms of individual or collective ownership, the Suku Asli were confronted with the necessity to establish the boundaries after the state independence. However, their way of ensuring their land was not a simple one to claim their antecedent right of the land. At first in the 1960s, they joined the government deforestation programmes of hinterland ‘for giving lands to our children and grandchildren’. More recently, through the involvements with the ‘indigenous movement’ and environmentalism, they have tried to claim the rights of economically-worthless coastal marshy lands as their ‘ancestral lands’. In this paper, I try to describe the historical changes in the relation between the Suku Asli and the space surrounding them by focusing on the cultural 'logic' that is used to explain and support their connection to it - a 'logic' that enables the Suku Asli to conceptualize their relationship to land as both an embodiment and a manifestation of their collective identity.

Abstract

The image of the city worse off. Poor transport, congestion, pollution, and flooding becomes a major obstacle. Peace, security, comfort, and the more limited development in Jakarta. This resulted in a decreased quality of life and environment of the city. Basically, the public space is one indicator in determining the Quality of Life in a town populated. However, the design of public spaces often do not refer to the design criteria especially involving people’s aspirations. Discourse of public space often only seen as a purely technical activities and graphics. With the decline in quality of life, resulting in the city often social conflicts, such as racism, rampant: buskers, street children, beggars, begging, vandalism, hooliganism, crime, demonstrations, and student brawls. With the method of qualitative research - Grounded Theory, I would emphasize the discovery of a new theory which is based on the results of empirical observation data, inductive, generative nature and the data as evidensi, to review the condition of the open space in Jakarta. With the results of exposure to the new theory conceptualization embodies the ideal of public space that should be realized, to bridge the expectations/desires of the population of Jakarta and is intended to provide input for the study of public spaces Jakarta in particular, as well as food for thought for local development in general

Abstract

Joseph Campbell explains one of the four mythical functions is a pedagogic function that is how humans live life as human beings under any circumstances. Some forms of folklore with pedagogic educative function are as a tool or complement in education and enculturation values such as stories to educate children disciplined, obedient, diligent and intelligent. The enculturation process to ensure the individual achieves maturity and cultural maturity so as to support the social order. In addition to the family as the first institution for the enculturation values in children, the social environment system that becomes interaction area will also affect each other's attitude and parenting ways and the environment. From the preliminary research, it was concluded that the observed myths of education were no longer present in the daily lives of the five families of informants. On the 5 myths traced, only the Malin Kundang myth is still well known. The substance of the values contained in the myth is accepted but is considered to be no longer to be found in the realities of everyday life. In the changing context, the enculturation process of the Minangkabau has shifted along with the swift entry of new values through new communication media

They also understand the relation of economic and moral rational syncretism of farmers to the Denfarm Pattern of S.R.I. The Denfarm program of S.R.I pattern is carried out by the government so that farmers can increase rice production. This activity was carried out on P3A Padibu and P3A Banda Iduik Ulakan Tapkis Subdistrict and Nan Sabaris Sub-District, but the results obtained were very different. There is a sociological problem affecting the Denfarm production pattern of S.R.I. The data analysis used is qualitative hermeneutical analysis using moral economic theory James Scoot and Rational Farmer Samuel Popkin. The result of the research shows that the low production of Denfarm pattern of S.R.I P3A Padibu is caused by the chairman who commits lying and stealing in order to reach the personal interest. Besides, the chairman has no sense of responsibility towards Denfarm activity which gives impact to the appearance of the lazy nature of other participants. Perta also has another more productive land so that participants ignore the results obtained from the land of the Denfarm program. The high production of Denfarm P3A Banda Iduik occurs because it has a rational thought but nature is formed because it wants to depends the good name of P3A group, therefore, they are afraid to fail in this activity
