Abstract

Islam is a name religion with clear explanation based on the arguments that are normative and historically, the Qur’an, Hadith and history of preaching Prophet Muhammad when spread this religion. Of course this naming is permanent so it will not be changed until the end of time later. But for Wilfreid Cantwell Smith and Muhammad Shahrur which are the thinkers of the West and the Muslim Orientalist Liberals are trying to recontruction naming them. For Smith, Islam is only submission to God to be obedient and submissive to the shari’ah religion are shared by humans, as judging that the word Islam is derived from the word aslama means surrender or submission. Meanwhile, according Shahrur, Islam is taught by the shari’ah of the Prophet Muhammad who was also taught by the previous Prophets such as Abraham, Moses, Jesus and others. So according Shahrur Muslim person can be said without having to follow and believe in the Shari’ah as taught by the Prophet Muhammad. From this a second thought leaders cause various problems, such as Islamic religious truth is relative or inclusive or decontructed concept and the Shari’ah of Islam. So in this paper the authors will describe how Smith and Shahrur view of the meaning of Islam, the background of their thinking and their implications for the Islamic religion, and a refutation of their thinking.

Abstract

Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismail al-Bukhari is the author of the hadith book: al-Jâmi’ al-Shahîh, which is collecting the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and agreed by all Islamic scholars from its day to the present as the most valid and authentic reference book of the Muslims after al-Qur’an. Despite the prestigious position of the book and its author, al-Bukhari apparently got a big test and slanderahead his death. This was because of his thought of Qur’anic words. Al-Bukhari actually just said that word (reading) of al-Qur’an is including human actions, and human being and his deeds are created by God. This word was then concluded logically that Al-Bukhari stated al-Quran readings is creature by God. Sunni scholars, broadly divided into two schools of thought in questioning al-Quran words. Imam Ahmad, experts at hadith and the Hanabilah equated it’s verdict with the opinion of the Qur’an is creature. Meanwhile, al-Bukhari, Thabari, the sunni theologist, and some experts at hadis linked it with af’âlu al-’ibâd.

Abstract

This paper elaborates view of al-Ghazali and Hamka on the healthy soul in ‎tasawwuf. Both have an interest correlation in understanding healthy soul with different ‎ways of explanation. Hamka affirmed that healthy soul should be maintained by four ‎qualities; syaja>’ah, ‘iffah, h}ikmah, and ‘ada>lah. In fact, these four qualities are known as ‎ummaha>t al-fad}a>il or the mother of virtuous in the book of al-Ghazali. Al-Ghazali’s way in ‎explaining the meaning of ummaha>t al-fad}a>il,  however, is different with Hamka, making this ‎issue is important to be discussed. This research is done using descriptive analysis method ‎to elaborate both al-Ghazali and Hamka’s idea on healthy soul, before finally compared ‎in order to gain multiple results based on their different perspectives on this issue. ‎Researcher finds afterwards that Hamka was much influenced by al-Ghazali’s thought, but ‎attractively, Hamka succeeded to contextualize thea meaning of healthy soul in accordance ‎with al-Ghazali’s thought into Indonesian context in a more simple way to be understood ‎by all people, especially in the land of archipelago.‎

Abstract

The study entitled "Bid'ah According to the Muhammadiyah Perspective (The Study of Fatwa of the Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid Muhammadiyah" aims to formulate, define and provide more stringent limits on the concept of heresy according to Muhammadiyah through its fatwa institute "Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid" in In the midst of debate about the definition, concept and boundaries of heresy itself, Muhammadiyah wants to offer a moderate definition and concept to become a meeting point of the many schools, schools and religious ideologies that are developing. practically and theoretically, the practical benefits of this research are expected to be able to provide encouragement and motivation to Muslims to always study the vast treasures of Islamic science, so that a moderate Islamic society is realized and always prioritizes tolerance face differences especially the khilafiyah problems. This type of research includes qualitative research. The primary source is a collection of fatwas from the Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid Muhammadiyah. While the secondary sources are data and information derived from fiqh books, fiqh proposals and aqeedah which discuss bid'ah. This study uses the content analysis approach. This method is used to draw conclusions through efforts to bring up the characteristics of messages carried out objectively and systematically.

Abstract

Dalam kajian ini, peneliti mencoba mengungkap Pengaruh Mu’tazilah dalam memadu antara “din” dan “falsafah” menurut al-Kindi. Karena pada hakekatnya, Mu’tazilah adalah salah satu madzhab yang menjadikan akal sebagai asas dalam memahami ayat-ayat al-Qur’an. Sehingga salah satu metodenya dalam menafsirkan ayat ayat al-Qur’an adalah “manhaj al-ta’wil” atau dalam bahasa filsafat adalah metode perpaduan antara”din” dan “falsafah”. Maka dari itu banyak pendapat mu’tazilah yang berlandaskan perpaduan antara “din” dan “falsafah”, Sebagai hasil penerapan “manhaj al-ta’wil”. Ternyata metode tersebut menyerupai dengan pemikiran al-Kindi selaku filosuf Muslim pertama yang hidup sezaman dengan masa kejayaan madzhab Mu’tazilah. Al-Kindi berpendapat bahwa antara agama dan filsafat tidak bisa dipisahkan, serta tidak bertentangan antara keduanya. Sehingga banyak pemikiran al-Kindi yang berlandaskan metode tersebut, dan hal itu sebagaimana terdapat di dalam karya “Rasail al-Kindi al Falsafiyyah”. Maka dari kesamaan cara berpikir dan metode tersebut, dapat diduga bahwasannya al-Kindi secara tidak langsung terpengaruh oleh “manhaj al-ta’wil” nya Mu’tazilah yang berkembang di masa hidupnya.

Abstract

Spiritual psychotherapy is a way or method to deal with diseases which is related to the spiritual. This method is used for the purpose of increasing faith and monotheism through murāqabah only to Allah SWT alone, in order to obtain compassion from Him. One of the institutions that apply this method is Pondok Inabah Surabaya. In this Pondok Inabah, the application of therapy by healing the victims of drug addicts through psychological methods based on norms, rules and values in Islam, based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. Spiritual therapy at Pondok Inabah also applies the Sufi order method. In some cases a medical approach is also used. The method of spiritual therapy applied in Pondok Inabah Surabaya is all spiritual or spiritual activities using the method of the Qadaryah Naqsabandiyah Order which is central in spiritual therapy of students, such as: dzikr khāfī and dzikr jahr, ṣalāt, bath repentance, and kafarãt fasting. The time required in spiritual therapy is six months. Within six months, the students have to do a lot of spiritual activities, so the guidance on their mental health can be well controlled. To achieve mental health, they are required to set intentions seriously, beginning with repentance, submitting to God, and improving morals. Thus, there will be a love for God, so they can forget their dependence on drugs.

Abstract

Tawheed as known and believed by Muslims is to declare that God as the only purpose in worship. According to Hasan Hanafi, a concept tauheed in Islam has made Muslims retarded. Therefore, a Muslims are left behind Westerns. Hanafi then offers another kind of tawheed which he calls by the Antropocentric Tawheed. Hanafi considers that God is no longer became as the center of everything. In Hanafi’s opinion, the main center of everything is human. The aim is to make a muslims advanced as Westerns. In Hanafi’s view, the Westerns advancied because they has liberated them self from religion (God). The purpose of this research is to reveal the concept and relevance of Hasan Hanafi’s Antropocentric Tauhid, and then to criticize it. By using descriptive method and critical analysis, in the end it was found that Hanafis thought is ambiguous. In the terms of terminology, the name of the Anthropocentric Tauhid that triggered the problem, so it takes a deep and systematic criticism to prove the error of this Hanafi idea.

Abstract

Sebelumnya, barangkali nama Syi’ah Nusairiyyah tidak terkenal sebagaimana yang terjadi saat ini. Setelah Perang Suriah berkecamuk beberapa tahun terakhir, pamor kelompok ini semakin nyata. Artikel ini bertujuan menjelaskan tiga poin penting mengenai Syiah Nusairiyyah; sejarah berdiri, pandangan akidah, dan berbagai ajaran yang dianutnya. Dari poin ini diharapkan, pembaca dapat mendudukkan persoalan konflik di Suriah dengan benar. Artikel ini bukan hendak lebih mempopulerkan sekte Syi’ah tersebut, melainkan untuk memahamkan bagaimana sejarah dan ajarannya. Hal tersebut perlu dilakukan agar para pembaca tidak salah menilai Syi’ah Nusairiyyah. Salah dalam artian membela mati-matian kelompok ini. Dalam kajiannya, penulis mengungkapkan beberapa ajaran Syi’ah Nusairiyyah yang dipandang menyeleweng oleh kalangan Ahlusunah maupun kalangan Syi’ah sendiri. Beberapa keyakinan dan ajaran kelompok ini yang dianggap menyimpang, seperti tidak dikenalnya ajaran wudhu, tayamum, mandi wajib, salat lima waktu, puasa Ramadhan, zakat, umrah, dan haji ke tanah suci Makkah. Bahkan, Syi’ah Nusairiyyah juga menghalalkan praktik homoseks yang dilaknat oleh Allah.

Abstract

Batiniah is a particular faith that believes the most important quality in everything spirituality (batin), not physically (zahir). Batin is the essence and nature (hakikat), whereas zahir is unreal sightings. This faith goes into several sects that form their own beliefs. Its influence gets into the sects of Shi’ism philosophy, Ibahiyah, and others. In it development of faith gives influence to the teaching of syncretism, pluralism, and abortion of beliefs to sharia obligations. Finally, some famous scholars paid attention to their teachings. For example Imam al-Ghazali who wrote a special note of criticism against this sect in his book Faḍāiḥ al-Bāṭiniyyah. He explained that the characteristics of Batiniah is to deny the literal meaning of the Qur’an and Hadith. In addition, Imam Abu al-Fadl Qadi Iyad, in al-Syifā bi Ta’r īfi Ḥuqūq al-Muṣṭafa, explained that Batiniah, are those who believes that sharia and a large part of the message brought by the Prophets did not correspond to their inner meaning. This doctrine actually is a mixture of the teachings of Neo-Platonism, Aristotelian philosophy, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Islam. So that Batiniah can be said as the faith of syncretism comes into the sects of Islam. Although it has grown and divided since it’s beginning, the basic beliefs are still consistent, that the batin is real and zahir is not real. Thus it tends to trust dualism, the essentials of everything is batin, not the zahir.

Abstract

The issue of diversity or plurality in religion is quite interesting issue interesting to be analyzed. It is because the phenomenon of religious pluralism has become a real social facts and become a part of modern life. For those who are not familiar, and have no experience in peaceful coexistence, it will cause problems, so it is forcing experts from various disciplines to find a solution in order to respond the problems. In the end, numbers of religious pluralism theories appear. Some of them are Global Theology and Transcendent Unity of Religions. If it is investigated accurately, the final target of both theories is an attempt to legitimize the truth of all religions. In addition, the most troubling is the effort to no longer claiming absolute truth. Thus, the social impact of the doctrine of religious pluralism is quite dangerous to the teachings of the religion that has been going well. For Islam, the presence of religious pluralism can not be accepted because it will negatively affect the pillars of Islamic teaching. The impact also affects social life of Islamic community. Therefore, this paper will try to research negative influence brought by religious pluralism against Islam. The research will be focused on social life matters such as interfaith marriage, praying together, and also theological dialogue between religions.
