Abstract

Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) is the enclosure of meat in high gas barrier materials, in which the gaseous environment has been changed especially to maintain the colour of meat and reduce microbiological growth - with the intent of extending shelf life.MAP which has been applied commercially to fresh meat may be devided into two basic techniques, high oxygen MAP and low oxygen MAP. The shelf life and safety of fresh meat in this packaging method is influenced by a number of factors, namely the nature of meat, the gaseous environment inside the package, the nature of the package, the storage temperature, and the packaging process and machinery.

Abstract

Waste water from leather tanning industries contains high pollutant of organic and inorganic matters. Fragmented method of waste water treatment management has been done in PT K, leather tanning industry, Malang. This method based on the characteristic ot the waste water from each leather tanning process with four group treatment process to reduce the COD content. By implementing this method the result shows that the COD content decreasing from 4047,68 ppm to 793,37 ppm (80,40 %); other benefit is reducing bad smell during the process.

Abstract

Leather industries produce a complicated pollution. Action to minimize the pollution it had been done in the leather industry which is middle industry. To implement this programme will save 50 % of fresh water in hide washing process (batch system) compared to continuous processed, while install screen in wastewater 's flaw will reduce solid waste in the sedimentation tank. Recycling the de!iming washing water for washing the raw hide hes no effect to leather quality (remain unchange). While recycling pickle washing water added with tanning washing water for tanning process will produce pollutant which chrome oxide in it is 50 % less than as usually and the wet blue product is still fulfil the standard requirement. Abstract

The adjuvant usage gives an effect in the Water Dispersible Granule of pesticide formulation, both for types of adjuvant or its concentration. Binding agents as a part of adjuvant use in this research are Poly Vinyl Pirolidone, Poly Vinyl Alcohol, CMC and Gum Arabic. The best sequence formulation for water dispersible granule on active ingredient, speed of desintegration and pH (before and after storage) is A1 formula with polyvinyl pirolidon 2 %, A2formula with polyvinyl pirolidone 2,5 % and B1 formula with CMC 2,0 %. Generally the result shows that the local binding agents give a bit lower performance as adjuvant compared with the existing water dispersible granule formulations.

Abstract

Old newspaper (ONP) is a potential secondary fibre resource, especially for newsprint production, which can be used either in combine with virgin pulp or 100% recycled furnish.Though there are a number of factors that must be considered in recycling ONP, but it offers significant cost advantages compared with virgin pulp production. It's unfortunate that methods for evaluating de inking performance are not well defined.
