Abstract

This paper describe the development of an effective model in managing resistance to cultural change. The starting point of the description is the corporate culture, mainly its value and assumptions. It, then, shows the forms and manifestations of change manifestations and possible causes of the resistance. This paper addresses the change resistance issues by introducing two opposing views and their limitations. The first view, the cause-driven model, argues that the strategies to overcome resistance depend on its causes. The main limitation of this model is that it fails to acknowledge the multidimensional aspects of change. On other hand, the systematic view asserts that resistance is unchangeable and that the best method is to work with resistance rather than to overcome or beat the resistance. However, this model tend to ignore the individual aspects of resistance. I would argue that the best model should be the combination of both models. The suggested model consists of six steps: building a shared mission, communicating the mission-based change agenda, encouraging the employees’ participation, building trust through dialogue, and institutionalising the cultural change. However, this model has three major limitations. Firstly, the implementation of the model should be integrated with the other change programs. Another limitation relates to the assumptions of this model (time availability, information needed, and resistance power). The last limitation is that this model undermines the stress and high tension.

Abstract

The performance measurement of an organization  recently becomes a trend for some reasons. First, the company or the  organization can estimate the efficient use of its resources. Secondly the company can plan future target performance more realistically in relation to the existing coundition. Thirdly, the company can apply proper strategies to improve the performance on the basic of actual achievement and expected performance. Until recently PT Ajinomoto Indonesia Mojokerto has not conduct holistic performance measurement. The measurement is conducted partially in each department. The method of performance measurement applied in this research is "The Performance Prism " focusing on stakeholders satisfaction which is a method developed in response to the previous methods such as Balance scorecard. This method deals with 5 aspects: stakeholders satisfaction, stakeholders Contributions, Strategies, Processes, and Capabilities. This reflects the facets of three — dimentional prism. The performance measurement of PT Ajinomoto Indonesia Mojokerto Factory using the Performance Prism obtains 28 Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for stakeholders Customer, Investor, Supplier, Employee and Community. Analitycal Hierarching Process (AHP) is applied to KPI. Having scared using OM4X the research results 14 KPI categorized as good in green 4 KPI is fair in yellow, and 10KPI is bed in red. The aggregate value is 5,6 showing fairly good infair condition yellow.

Abstract

VCD Player consists of 3 electrical parts, MPEG Board, Loader Module, and Power Supply. These parts comprise several components, which could be procured from different suppliers, at a variable reliability and costs. A study was carried out to determine a choice and an optimal combination of these components to satisfy the reliability of the system and available budget. Optimization was performed using Deterministic Dynamic Programming method. The characteristically non-linear equation of the objective function of this problem made the Dynamic Programming (DP) a reasonable alternative. By assigning stages, states, decision variables, and pay-off, which characterized the feature of DP model, related to the choice and the cost of the components, optimization of the problem, which was done by stages, could be done. In this study, two versions of optimization were done: to optimize the reliability of the system constrained by the budget available, and to optimize the cost subjected to a determined reliability of the system. The results showed that optimization of system reliability using DP resulted in optimal system reliability in a constrained budget. The method used is also proven able to obtain a reliability of the system hitherto required, even with a relatively lower budget.

Abstract

Abstract The palm oil industry is one of the leading sector in Indonesia and its contribution to national non-oil export is significantly large. Indonesia palm oil industry has also increased together with world demand for palm oil enhancement. The average growth rate of plantation area is 15% or equal to 200,000 hectare per year. Meanwhile, the palm production in Indonesia has reach 17 million tons in 2005 or increased 63.7% compare with year 2003 was 10.4 million tons only. The growth of downstream industries are not as fast as growth of palm oil industry itself, as a result the palm oil selling price is low and there is no added value from the downstream industry. The purpose of this study is to formulate a model of institutional development of downstream palm oil industry which appropriate based on various criteria and assessment of expert opinion. MPE method has been applied for this study in order to choose the most appropriate downstream industry in Indonesia. Then, the ISM method is also been used to formulate institutional models of efficient downstream palm oil industry. Finally, the AHP method has been adopted as well in order to select the development strategy of downstream palm oil agro-industry. The result of this study is the institutional element downstream palm oil industry has significantly affluence the development of oil palm industry as well as development strategy of Indonesia’s palm oil downstream industry.

Abstract

Three components of marketing strategies are segmentation, targeting, and positioning. Increasingly tight market competition compels a more accurate formulation of the three components of marketing strategy. The knowledge of consumer’s preferences and consumer’s perception about a product’s main competitors will help the formulation of marketing strategy. The use of more quantitative statistic methods i.e. cluster analysis and crosstab analysis are expected to give more exact results in order to give more accurate steps of marketing strategy formulation.

Abstract

In the beginning of 2005, property business in Surabaya went into a new decade by the emergence of the new set of trend in housing/real estate, which is often called as 'minimalist architecture'. Thosewho apply the system of multi-concepts, would have no difficulties in marketing their products. To those developed minimalist architectures showed that developers chose the system of single-concept could not fulfill their targets of marketing. Thus we could consider this as an indicator of certain formula, that is: what kind of factors that would be considered by customers-to-be before buying 'minimalist-housing'? and how was the character of those costumers- to-be in its relations with geographic, demographic, and psychographic aspects?. The sampling techniques used "random sampling', which was applied to half part of "minimalist-concepts-housing" using the system of single-concept customers in Surabaya, as the population. Data was analysis using "exploratory factor analysis '. Comparison between variables was tested using t-test, Mann maitney, Anova, and Kruskall Wallis techniques. This research resulted in there were 4 factors which would be taken into consideration by the customers-to-be in buying minimalis-concepts-housing'. These factors were: material, design, model and color. It was also found out that those costumers-to-be in Surabaya, had different characters according togeographic, demographic and psychographic aspects.

Abstract

Synthetic model development is always very laborious and complicated task. Therefore, a more practical modeling method based on traffic flow data is necessary. In general, this development task has practically never been tried in ITS. A first attempt has been done and provided a calculation method called Experimental Model PADI 0.0. The experiment showed that mathematically it was a Simultaneous Linear Equations (SLE) Case. This model was still very primitive and needed to be developed. Thisresearch was aimed to develop the Model PADI 0.0. A more complicated case, a proportional distribution case, had been taken for this attempt. The results indicated that the Model PADI 0.0 was valid to solve the experimental case. Furthermore, for the same transportation network model, the trip distribution pattern does not affect the SLE form. Afterward the experimental case still needed to be developed by integrating a more complicated traffic assignment model.

Abstract

Regarding to environmental management accounting context, here in after referred to as EMA (Environmental Management Accounting), waste is the part of the production output. It has to absorb various types of costs (direct or indirect) such as a real product. The condition also well explained in a statement that the environmental costs of a production system is actually larger than is conventionally estimated by several companies over the years, that is identical to the cost of environmental costs incurred by the company to remove waste from the production system. The use of diagrams Material & Energy Flow Accounting (MEFA) is recommended in this EMA approach to simplify the process of tracking the flow of environmental costs in each production process. Assuming that there is no conditions of 100% efficiency in a production system, the presence of waste production is an inefficient symptom that will occur yet may be minimized.
