Abstract

The alternative energy that has been developed today, one of which is biodiesel, biodiesel is the fuel process of an updated source. One of them utilizes kesambi seed oil as a raw material for making, this is done because of the many results of the kesambi tree in Indonesia so that it has great potential as a biodiesel raw material. This research focuses on the development of the ZnO catalyst with MWCNTS as a buffer for the transesterification of Kesambi seed oil. The purpose of this research is to study the type of impregnation time, sulfonation time And the appointer is stirring during the transesterification process on product yield results. Catalyst is characterized by X-Ray Diffraction Analysis Test (X-RD, Brunauer Emmett-Teller (BET), Scanning Electron Microscopy Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDX), and Fourier Transform Spectroscopy Infra-Red (FTIR). The results showed the highest yield of 85.46% obtained at a variable of 12-hour impregnation time, with a 4-hour sulfonation time with a temperature of calcination of 500 ° C, the calcination time of 4 hours, the molar ratio of oil against methanol 1 15, the transesterification reaction temperature was 65 ° C, and time under 7-hour transesterification reactions.

Abstract

Empty Palm Oil Bunches is one of the non-timber solid wastes produced in the process of making palm oil. Empty palm oil bunches that have been cleaned and then hydrolyzed with HNO3 and NaNO2 are 3.5% at a temperature of 90oC. Then it was delignified by varying the concentration of NaOH 1%, 2%, 3%, 4% and using temperature variations of 40 oC, 50 oC, and 60 oC for 1 hour. Then the cellulose obtained was tested by FTIR test, XRD test, SEM test, and the yield was calculated. From the results of the FT-IR test, it is obtained that the high wave number is 2800-3300 cm-1 and the low wave number is 500-1400 cm-1. The spectrum shows a broad absorption peak located at 2800-4000 cm-1 which is a stretch of the –OH group. The highest yield content was found at a concentration of 4% NaOH at 90oC with a yield of 90.4%. The lowest yield is found at a concentration of 3% NaOH at a temperature of 60oC with a yield of 24.88%. From the results of these studies, it can be seen that the greater the concentration of NaOH used affects the cellulose produced.

Abstract

The Merangin area, in particular, has experienced several tectonic phases and stages of change in the direction of the regional structure. In addition, on this island found, rocks of the Paleozoic age, their unique tectonic, geological system and constituent rocks will produce fascinating geological reconstructions. The unique tectonic design and constituent stones will have an absorbing geological reconstruction. The research methods include literature review, field observations, measurements, and studio analysis. Based on the literature and the research location approach, the research area is located in the physiographic zone of the Sumatera fault. Based on field observations, it is known that the constituent rocks are sedimentary, pyroclastic materials and intrusive granite rocks. The formations that arrange these rocks are the Mengkarang formation (Permian), the Tantan granite formation (Jurassic-Cretaceous), and the Kasai Formation (Tertiary). The fault data that passes through the building is the Sumatran fault with the position of Strike/Dip N322°E/76°, Bearing N135°E, and Rake 36°. This regional fault resulted in ductile rocks being repeatedly folded with an orientation approaching West-East; this can be observed in one of the fold data with the general direction of flank 1 N2850E/440 and the general rule of side 2 N136°E/42°. The result of the analysis is an anticline; this anticline occurs repeatedly and is referred to as an isoclinal fold perpendicular to the orientation direction of the Sumatran Fault. The pattern and movement of those folds and faults are by following under the concept of the wrench fault, which states that the fault strongly influences the formation of folds. Those folds will be perpendicular to the fault pattern.

Abstract

Asphalt concrete layer (laston) has a high degree of flexibility so that placing it directly on top of layers such as AC-WC (Asphalt Concrete – Wearing Course) makes this layer vulnerable to damage due to high temperatures and heavy traffic loads. The type of damage that often occurs in the laston is the release of granules and cracks. Styrofoam is a type of plastic polymer that is thermoplastic when heated it becomes soft and hardens when cold. When mixed with gasoline, styrofoam will soften and can function as an adhesive. This study was to determine the value of Marshall characteristics in the addition of styrofoam into the asphalt.variations used for styrofoam content are 1%, 1.5%, 2% with asphalt content of 4.5%, 5.0%, 5.5%, 6.0%. The results showed that the optimum asphalt value was obtained at 6% asphalt content. And the mixture that meets the requirements is the addition of 1% styrofoam. Higher content of styrofoam will reduce the value of the melt (flow) and will reduce the value of Marshall stability.

Abstract

A packaging is a silent salesman that determines whether consumers decide to buy the product or not. Consumers can see, feel, touch, recognize, and pay attention to good quality toy packaging. Borneo Toys is a product that serves children, in that reason, the researchers designed the packaging in which becomes a storage, protective, and product interaction media with consumers. In phase of design method, researcher used: collecting theoretical foundations, formulating design requirements, making mood reference boards, designing packaging frameworks, packaging graphics, and prototypes. The final result is a prototype of the packaging design of the Borneo Toys toy, with a concept of 'Mega Pack Well-Organized', meaning that in one packaging can store 10 different models of animal toys. The novelty of this design lies in the configuration of the storage layout of the toy pieces, where the layout arranged by type of shape so as to present a new experience of storing toys for children, because they have to guess the position and arrangement of these pieces like a puzzle game. There is a manual book in this package that can make it easier for children to play Borneo Toys.

Abstract

The classification of plastic bag waste made from HDPE and LDPE is based on colour obtained white and black in dominant quantities in addition to red, blue, yellow, and others. Through the experimental method, heating on a gas stove at a temperature of 40-700C can melt the plastic bag waste. Heating is done to meet the trash so that it can be manually moulded into various geometric shapes. Selection of the optimal shape and size of the mould is needed to realize the geometric board shape. De Stijl's style in Piet Mondrian's 2D work is used as the basis for composing the printed composition. The design method is used to realize the arrangement into a geometric board shape with a colour composition in De Stijl's modernism style. The boards will be resin reinforced by the FRP method. The board is used to make stool products, pegboards and corner tables.

Abstract

The use of carbon structural steel in construction is widely developed. It is important to do research continuously in order to get the optimum mechanical and physical properties of a material. Heat treatment which includes heating and quenching is a process that can be carried out to improve mechanical properties. A fast cooling rate is used to obtain higher strength and hardness. This research studied the effect of quenching using circulated water medium with water flow rate variations in structural steel Q235, Q255, and Q275 to their mechanical properties and microstructure. The heat treatment process was done with hardening at 1150oC, roll milling at austenitizing temperature, then quenching using circulated water medium with water flow rate of 225, 238, 247 m3/h. The tensile and hardness test results showed that water flow rate and carbon content in steel give an effect on strength and hardness. The highest tensile strength and hardness value were achieved by Q275 steel with a flow rate of 247 m3/h, which are 73,49 kgf/mm2 and 298 HVN, respectively. Meanwhile, the microstructures resulted in the presence of the mixture of martensite and pearlite, as well as ferrite in every sample with the increase in the composition of martensite and pearlite in Q275 steel with a flow rate of 247 m3/h.

Abstract

Berbek Industrial Estate is the largest industrial area in Sidoarjo Regency. The most dominant concentration of heavy metals in industrial areas is chromium in water and sediments in rivers which have the potential to have a negative impact on humans, this is because rivers are a place for developing aquatic organisms including fish that are consumed by local residents. Parameters include chromium content in river water and sediment. Spatial distribution analysis uses the kriging method on laboratory results and overlay to describe the distribution map. The result of the highest content in water parameters is the location of Gedongan Village at 0.31 ppm. Based on Peraturan Pemerntah Republik Indonesia Nomor 82 Tahun 2001 on Water Management and Pollution Control, states that the environmental quality standard for chromium in class III rivers is 0.05 mg/L. The highest content in sediment is the Berbek location at 3.24 ppm.
