Abstract

Students' critical thinking ability is one of the components developed in 21st Century learning. However, this critical thinking ability is still very minimal and far from expectations, this is supported by the results of international surveys that show a low average value. Likewise, the results of the pretest of critical thinking skills of grade IV elementary school students in Cluster 2 Purwasari showed a low average value. This study aims to determine the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in reading comprehension learning through the use of the FIVES Model and the Guided Reading Model. The study used a quasi-experiment with Static Group Pretest-Postest Design. The results showed that the use of these two models could improve students' critical thinking skills. However, the use of Model FIVES experienced a significant increase compared to the Guided Reading Model. Thus, there is an increase in students' critical thinking skills through the FIVES Model compared to the Guided Reading Model.

Abstract

Some teachings in Sundanese culture about the path to the primacy of life, the ethos, and character of Sundanese are cageur, bageur, singer, and pinter, which can be interpreted as healthy, good, insightful, and intelligent. Sundanese culture has certain characteristics that distinguish it from other cultures. Sukahayu Elementary School is one of the impact schools in the area of 2 groups of Jalancagak, Jalancagak District. Precisely in Bunihayu Village, Jalancagak District, Subang Regency. The use of language as a communication tool for students interacting in schools mostly uses Sundanese bases in addition to Indonesian. Sundanese language must be maintained, to maintain local wisdom the writer made a school action research in order to know whether the preservation of Sundanese culture can be maintained through the Mibanda Literation Movement? And the response from the school community about the literacy movement. This study used School Action Research (SAR) with research procedures beginning with planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The results of this study are that local wisdom in Sukahayu Elementary School, Jalancagak Subang District can be built through the school literacy movement (SLC). The Literacy Movement that was applied included habituation, development and learning with the steps taken including socialization, In-House Training (IHT), mentoring and provision of facilities and infrastructure. Responses provided by participants in the Mibanda Literacy Movement (Teachers, Students, and committees) in building local wisdom in Sukahayu Jalancagak Subang Elementary School is quite good, as shown by the results of the questionnaire.

Abstract

Factual conditions require the development of teaching materials in thematic learning using a scientific approach to improve the available teaching materials. This study aims to: 1) examine the factual conditions for the use of teaching materials in thematic learning in the 2013 curriculum; 2) knowing the development of scientific based thematic teaching materials for fourth grade elementary students; 3) knowing expert judgment on the feasibility of scientific-based thematic teaching materials for fourth grade elementary students; 4) knowing the effect of the use of scientifically based thematic teaching materials on the learning achievement of fourth grade elementary school students; 5) knowing the teacher's assessment of learning using thematically based thematic teaching materials for grade IV elementary school students; 6) knowing the response of students to learning using thematically based thematic teaching materials for fourth grade elementary school students. This study uses Development Research with qualitative and quantitative research designs. The development process uses the 4-D model of Thiagarajan, Semel and Semel which has been modified to be the stage of defining, designing, and developing. Teaching materials that have been validated by experts get the category of "very valid and without revision" from expert responses and teacher evaluations with agreed criteria, student responses to the use of teaching materials in learning get very good responses from students. The results of the trials using the experimental design The Before And After Design show that there is an effect of the use of scientifically based thematic teaching materials on the learning achievement of PPKn; 2) there is the influence of the use of scientifically based thematic teaching materials on social studies learning achievements; 3) there is the influence of the use of scientifically based thematic teaching materials on the learning achievement of science. Scientific based thematic teaching materials for Grade IV Primary School students can be used in learning.

Abstract

This research and development on the Mathematics students' worksheet (LKS) on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy. 1) the factual condition in SD on the use of worksheets in teaching-learning, 2) the development of the mathematics LKS on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy, 3) the validity of the mathematics LKS on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy for fourth grade in elementary school 4) the effect of mathematics worksheet on TANDUR Strategy on the students' mathematics learning achievement on Cardinal Numbers, 5) the teachers evaluation of mathematics worksheet on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy for the fourth graders, 6) the students respond to mathematics LKS on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy in for the fourth graders in elementary school. The population used was 24 students from the fourth graders of an elementary school in UPK Kebasen. The technique for collecting data was by test and non-test, namely by pretest-posttest, and expert validation, teacher evaluation, student response questionnaire. The research was that: 1) the development of mathematics worksheet on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy was an alternative to solving the problems, 2) the score of validity of mathematics worksheet on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy from the three validators was very valid, 3) There was an effect on mathematics worksheet on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy toward the students' mathematics learning audit on Cardinal Numbers, 4) Teachers evaluation of mathematics worksheet on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy for fourth graders was very good, and 5) The student response from mathematics worksheet on the Cardinal Symbol through TANDUR Strategy was agreed very much.

Abstract

This research was underlined by students low curiosity and learning achievement on mathematics in grade IV at SD Negeri 1 Kaliwungu. This research was aimed at improving the students' curiosity and mathematics learning achievement on simple solids through Quantum learning model. The subject of this research was the IV grade students of SD Negeri 1 Kaliwungu consisting of 19 students comprising 8 males and 11 females. This was a classroom action research carried 2 cycles. The procedure in each cycle involved planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The data were obtained from the observation sheet for the teacher and students activity. To get the data dealing with the learning achievement, the evaluation test was given at the end of each meeting. Moreover, the questionnaire was distributed to the student to get data of students curiosity. Based on the result of the research, the students' curiosity in the first cycle was 73.81% and in the second cycle was 80.26%. Furthermore, the mastery of students learning achievement in the first cycle was 86.84% and in the second cycle was 89.47%. In conclusion, the Quantum learning model could improve the students' curiosity and mathematics learning achievement on simple solids in grade IV at SD Negeri 1 Kaliwungu, Mandiraja sub-district, Banjarnegara regency.

Abstract

The research was aimed to (1) observe the students’ skill in writing narrative text, (2) find the mistakes in standard Indonesian language of the narrative text on the topic of Life Phenomenon in Indonesian Subject of fifth graders Elementary School. The method applied was quantitative and qualitative, in a form of descriptive by collecting data using test and documentation. The data were obtained from the narrative text of the fifth graders' students SD N 1 Pasinggangan consisted of 31 students. The research showed that most of the students could compose narrative correctly with the mean score of 76, which mean in “good category”. However, there were some mistakes about misspelling or mistake in grammar (252 from 139 collected data). The mistakes were spelling 33.33%, punctuation 22.27%, word decoding 5.16%, mistyping 30.95%, and grammar 3,56% such as prefix, suffix, konfix, and infix 0.40%.

Abstract

School principals as leaders in primary schools can be a good manager of school progress in the future as well designer. The principal's role is very important because in the hands of the principal policies will progress the school is located. Factors supporting the achievement of a program created by the principal, the teacher's role as an educator as a resource executing the implementation of curriculum 2013, would require the improvement and enhancement of professionalism. Principal's role in preparing resource educator (teacher) facing the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 as a planner and developer in providing a school policy is to increase learning in terms of services, the concept of a credible form of learning that applies the concept of thematic scientific approach, foster harmonious school climate and culture character that can be run in a conducive learning, academic educators increase professionalism through education and training, and instilling cohesion and cooperation among stakeholders in building and developing a school program.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of the "Cegera" learning strategy based on dance products (song movements) in the 6th semester of FKIP UMP student art courses. The study population was 6 students. The method used in this study was carried out in 3 stages, namely plan, do, and see. Data collection techniques used were interview method, observation method, and documentation method. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative. The results of this study are (1) The implementation of the "Cegera" learning strategy consists of 3 steps, namely the implementation of storytelling strategies, expression and song movements. (2) make students active, cooperate with each other, and responsibility in the learning process. (3) The process of implementing learning strategies is emphasized with pleasant, fun and relaxed conditions so as to enable students to freely express ideas, concepts, exchange opinions, think together, explore and explore. (3) The dance product produced through the implementation of "Ceg" learning was successfully presented in the final semester practice exam. The Quick Strategy Findings can be recommended for dance-based practice courses.
