Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the TTW (Think Talk Write) learning model on the basic literacy and numeracy abilities of VB class students at SDN Tanak Embang, Selebung, Batukliang, Lombok Tengah, Nusa Tenggara Barat. This research is quantitative research using pre-experimental design method type one group pretest-posttest. This research is a population study because all 21 students in class VB are the research subjects. The instruments in this study were 10 multiple choice questions which were used as questions for students' pretest and posttest. The data analysis technique used a normality test as a prerequisite for analysis, paired sample t-test, an effect size test, and N-Gain test. The normality test shows that all data are normally distributed. The paired sample t-test showed a difference between the pretest and posttest scores, where the posttest scores were better than the pretest scores. The effect size test shows that the score d=-1,445 is in a small category because it is 0.05. This means that the TTW (Think Talk Write) learning model has a small effect on students' basic literacy and numeracy skills. The N-Gain test shows the average N-gain score for class VB is 47.0805 or 47% is included in the less effective category. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of the TWW (Think Talk Write) learning model is less effective in improving the basic literacy and numeracy skills of class VB students at SDN Tanak Embang.

Abstract

This research begins with students perceiving mathematics as a difficult and saturating subject, which causes students to be passive and less enthusiastic about learning and asking questions. To overcome this problem, a quick on the draw strategy is used with the game learning which is expected to make learning that was difficult to be memorable and fun, so that it can increase student motivation. This study aims to determine the increase in student motivation by using the quick on the draw strategy. This research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in 2 cycles and each cycle there are 2 meetings. Which consists of four stages, namely the stages of preparation, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this study were teachers and students of class V Elementary School of Pahlawan. Data collection techniques using observation and documentation. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis, which starts from collecting data, compiling and organizing data, processing data, presenting data and analyzing numerical data in order to provide an overview of a symptom, event or situation. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning motivation, where before the action was taken 34.3% was obtained in the low category. Meanwhile, after taking corrective action by implementing the quick on the draw strategy in the first cycle, student learning motivation increased by 65.2% in the good category. And the action in cycle II also increased student motivation to be 81.6% in the very good category. Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the quick on the draw strategy can increase student motivation in Mathematics subjects.

Abstract

Education during the Covid-19 pandemic has been carried out online, one of which is by using the WhatsApp application. For the sake of smooth learning, the principal as a supervisor must of course always evaluate the teacher as the main user of the WhatsApp Group so that educational goals can be achieved. This study aims to present evaluation procedures and aspects of teacher performance assessment at SDN 002 Rambah, Riau, Indonesia through the WhatsApp application. This study uses a qualitative approach with library and field research methods. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation via cell phones. It started with observing learning activities in the WhatsApp Group, continued with communication via WhatsApp Call with the principal and four homeroom teachers. Then the data were analyzed based on the theory of Miles and Huberman by reducing the data, presenting the data, and concluding the field findings. The data obtained were validated by data triangulation techniques and data sources. The results showed that the evaluation procedure carried out by the principal was by joining the class WhatsApp group and conducting formative and summative evaluations online to teachers. So that aspects of teacher performance assessment, namely punctuality, initiative, ability, communication, and quality of work have shown satisfactory results marked by the smooth teaching and learning process, the ability of teachers to use technology, increased teacher professionalism, and good student achievement. The researcher recommends further research to see other alternatives that are used in teacher supervision and performance appraisal.
