Abstract

Landa 'is the name for the granary of the Duri Tribe, which is different from the barns in the archipelago and is full of architectural metaphysical values. Landa's existence in Enrekang District was founded in three villages, one of which is Kendenan Village, which is the location of the study because the most significant number of Landa is in this village. The community still holds the traditions inherited from their ancestors. This research aims to uncover and discover the characteristics of the structure and construction of the terrace'. The research method used a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis techniques. The research results reveal that vertically the Landa 'is divided into three main parts. the first leg/bottom (Bala Landa') uses the column frame structure system, and the construction uses the fulcrum and perforation system; the second part is the body/middle (Kale Landa). ) which uses a siamma structure and construction system, and the third part of the head/top (Dea Landa ') uses a beam frame and a construction system using a stack, notch, and perforation system. Knowledge and the design process of Landa 'are full of local wisdom values responsive to disasters.

Abstract

Sidoarjo Spatial Planning's data indicates that Jabon area is planned to be a DEM tourist area and secondary mixed-used. Some tourism activities have started to exist but are only concentrated in the Tlocor area, while other areas in the area are still very minimal in facilities. Is it true then that the configuration of urban space in Jabon District can accommodate the city's development – which is now leading to tourism? This research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The chosen space syntax analysis technique is used as a heuristic tool to discuss fundamental concepts. The study results indicate a relationship between the configuration of urban space and the concept of sustainable tourism development. Configuration can be seen in terms of accessibility and economic improvement that can be done by knowing the parts that can be mobility options and are connected to other urban spaces. Accessibility in the area can be developed by evaluating the existing road network so that connectivity can be better and human mobility to and from tourist areas is higher.

Abstract

Life expectancy in Indonesia has significantly increased. The 2010 census shows that the Indonesian population has a life expectancy of up to 70.7 years. As for Medan, life expectancy increased to 73.14 in 2020, with 129,063 older people. The number of residents is considered unbalanced with the number of available nursing homes, and there are still few nursing homes with adequate facilities. Nursing homes are also often seen as an act of alienation for the elderly; they are considered harmful. Therefore, nursing homes will implement a behavioural architecture, which is an architecture that, in its application, always includes considerations of user behaviour in its design. This research aims to make a nursing home a facility that can make the elderly comfortable and safe by considering their needs and behaviour patterns. The method used is a qualitative approach in which data is collected through observation, field surveys, literature studies, and comparative studies. The results show that the design of the nursing home must support and meet the needs of the elderly, who tend to require their territory, need an area with a good view, a bright and quiet environment, and can socialize easily. The results of this study can be used as a basis for designing nursing homes in the future.

Abstract

generated from a variety of sources, both renewable and nonrenewable. Switching from nonrenewable to renewable energy sources is one of many strategies that can be used to achieve net-zero buildings. In Indonesia, this strategy is very feasible due to its abundant renewable energy resources, particularly solar energy. This research presents a school building as the proposed case. The school, SCK Citra Garden, is chosen as the pilot project due to its access to solar radiation and its minimum shading conditions. Using Helioscope software, BIPV modelling was simulated on its roof, and the electrical energy output from BIPV was calculated. The substitution percentages of BIPV energy output for conventional electrical energy consumed by the building were then measured. This percentage was compared to the National Energy Mix target and Greenhouse Gas Standard to assess its performance towards net-zero school buildings. The result shows that BIPV has a good performance. Even though the substitution percentage is still below the national energy mix target, it exceeds the greenhouse gas standard target for on-site renewable energy tools.

Abstract

Worship is essential to every human being, but finding a house with a particular prayer room is still rare. This study seeks to capture the various phenomena of worship in the dwelling, consisting of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. In general, the choice of space for prayer at home stems from intrinsic motivation from within. This research seeks to find extrinsic motivation, a characteristic of the environment that is then analyzed and compiled into design principles. This research was conducted using a qualitative grounded theory approach. The data were collected by distributing open questionnaires freely (non-random sampling). The data obtained from 192 respondents were analyzed using content analysis, which was carried out in three stages: open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The investigation found seven (seven) designs for unique prayer rooms in the house. These principles include comfort, privacy, tranquility, minimal distraction, flexibility, cleanliness, and closeness. This study also revealed that a particular room for worship could increase religious activities at home and interaction between family members in spiritual and religious aspects

Abstract

During the COVID-19 pandemic, housing is not only a protector and a shelter; it also accommodates all activities, both working and studying. The changes that have occurred as a result of the stay-at-home policy have made residents make various changes to their activities and adjustments to their homes. This study aims to reveal the correlational relationship between perceptions of satisfaction, changes in activities, and housing adjustments during the COVID-19 pandemic. so that it can be determined what the pattern of behaviour in the house was during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses qualitative methods in the first stage and quantitative methods in the second stage. The first stage investigates all changes in activity and adjustments made in the house during the pandemic. The second stage reveals the relationship between activities, mental adjustment, and perceived satisfaction in housing, including productive groups, family-oriented groups, and self-oriented groups. Productive groups tend to correlate with forms of adaptation in the form of cleaning activities, semi-public activities, and adjustments through the configuration of space and functions. Then, closeness to a family group tends to correlate with diversification activities such as online activities, online shopping, cleaning activities, room cleanliness, and increased space privacy. Meanwhile, self-oriented groups tend to correlate with activities in the room, recreational activities, and privacy enhancements. The behavioural patterns of occupants in housing during the COVID-19 pandemic that were found in this study can contribute to future residential design considerations.

Abstract

This paper describes the architectural design process based on an understanding of living materials’ properties and their growth process in response to pollution. The development of the design method was based on the existence of living materials and their potential to be the active unit of architecture. Living materials could actively grow and adapt through their reactions to external factors, in this case, pollution, allowing the material to be in a passive phase temporarily due to the forces. This paper focuses on the development of design methods based on the understanding of algae, fungi, and lichen as the living materials that will detect and detoxify air and soil pollution around Daan Mogot, West Jakarta. By conducting research through design, this paper then proposes architectural design by injecting the active-passive growth process of living materials (algae, fungi, and lichen) into the context using split and absorb mechanisms. In response to pollution, the active and passive schemes of living materials become the foundation of architectural design. This paper then proposes the term "active materiality," considering the existence and capability of the living materials as the active unit. The development of an architectural design method in this study demonstrates the possibility of design ideas to enhance dialogue between humans, other living things, and the environment and to develop programming to respond to environmental issues.

Abstract

The research intends to evaluate the planning design based on the initial mutual check (MC-0) of a large-scale building plan as a result of Joint ventures (KSO) between two planning consultants who differ in planning design experience; one consultant is from Java, and the other is from outside Java. The study's topic is building planning in the Kalimantan region. The design employs descriptive qualitative research based on data from a documentary study of project weekly meeting report archives and data analysis using non-numerical methods such as SWOT analysis. Research results: (1) The weakness of KSO with consultants from outside Java is the difference in experience and work ethic of Human Resources. (2) The obstacle to employing a large number of workers is the difficulty of supervising and coordinating work, which causes errors in the drawing and calculation of the BQ (bill of quantity) volume used in the job auction. (3) The results of the pile indicator analysis conclude that the depth of the precast pile foundation can be reduced. (4) In responding to the preliminary work, the contractor seeks to propose as much additional work as possible and ask for the smallest possible amount of less work. In comparison, the owner seeks to use the remaining funds from less work as additional work costs to increase the function and architectural appearance of the building.
