KARSA is a peer-reviewed national journal published by Institut Agama Islam Negeri Madura. It has been nationally accredited SINTA 2 since 2017 by Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Republic Indonesia. It is published twice a year (June and December). It publishes articles of research results, applied theory studies, social issues, cultural studies, and Islamic culture issues. The aim of KARSA is to disseminate cutting-edge research that explores the interrelationship between social studies and (including) culture. The journal has scope and seeks to provide a forum for researchers interested in the interaction between social and cultural aspects across several disciplines. The journal publishes quality, original and state-of-the-art articles that may be theoretical or empirical in orientation and that advance our understanding of the intricate relationship between social science and culture. KARSA accepts manuscript with a different kind of languages are Indonesian, English, Arabic, or French.

Abstract

Patriarchy is a system that put adult men in central and important position, while others such as women and children are positioned in relation to the interest of the patriarch (adult man). Within patriarchal system, women are positioned as wives whose job is to accompany, complement, entertain and serve the patriarch, while children are positioned as the next generation and entertainer of their father. This system affects the interpretation of religion, in this case Islam. Understanding religion by using patriarchal lenses can produce patriarchal culture which position women as always subordinate to men and that men as always superior to women, such as that men are leaders of women who manage and decide women’s affairs regardless of whether or not the men are capable or fulfilling the requirements of being leader. This religious understanding by using patriarchal lenses causes gender injustice between men and women, which contradicts Islam, as a religion which supports equality and justice and argues against patriarchy. Abstract

Abstrak:Tulisan ini bertitik tolak dari realitas bahwa sebuah bahasa harus mengalami proses kenaikan status (elitisasi) sebagai salah satu usaha alternatif agar bahasa itu tetap bertahan dan terpelihara. Saat ini, kondisi tersebut sedang menggelayuti bahasa Madura yang terancam terasing di tanah kelahiran sendiri. Dengan antisipasi historis, yakni pengalihan bahasa Melayu menjadi bahasa Indonesia yang selanjutnya menjadi bahasa nasional dan bahasa resmi, serta kalkulasi modalitas serta potensi yang dimiliki oleh bahasa Madura, bahasa ini berpotensi untuk menjadi bahasa resmi regional (skala wilayah penutur bahasa Madura). Tentu saja usaha ini tidak untuk merusak tatanan yang sudah dianggap mapan terhadap kenyamanan status bahasa Indonesia sebagai bahasa resmi satu-satunya di negeri ini, tetapi lebih kepada usaha penguatan wawasan kebangsaan di ranah linguistika belaka.Kata kunci:bahasa nasional, bahasa resmi, perencanaan/rekayasa bahasa

Abstract

The widespread pornography has yielding enormous negative effects for especially women and their born children ranging from diseases, abortion, death, unhealthy sexual life, and so on. These excesses generate from the crisis of sexual ethics that degrade sexual acts as merely for temporary and biological objectives. Using both hermenutics and mainly discourse analysis, this paper seeks to find out the representation of sexual ethics in Qurrah al-‘Uyun and the ways subject being subjectivated in the discourse. This paper finds out that sexual regimentation in Qurrah al-‘Uyun is constituted based on the benefit of sexual act and its danger. The religious and medical precautions are established in order that subjects will follow the recommendations and avoid the cautions to hinder harmful effects the sexual acts may generate for them and their progeny. The goals of sexual acts, favorable times for progeny and pleasure and ritual for sexual acts are so much determined in line with natural, rational and religious arguments. Within this context, they have to apply self restriction and stylizing their sexual behavior according to the determined regimen either alimentary or sexual to gain benefit for future.Copyright (c) 2017 by KARSA. Abstract

The end of world war II is considered the starting point of modern tourism. It is blowing up in the big scale as one of the social and economic power. As phenomena, that is natured by multy aspects, touris, not only serves the smell of prosperity but also  arisesthe culture shift in social frame especially for the local community. Its positive and negative implication becomes an integral part such as two sides coin. In this context, there is one thing to consider  that human factor and local culture entity cannot be denied. It means the local community life must not be separated from its root to empasize the commercial aspect of tourism. As matter of fact,  the true orientation of tourism points to tourism industry that still concerns the humanity and rotates the culture of nature. Abstract

Abstrak: Tulisan ini berpijak pada asumsi bahwa perubahan sosial tidak selalu diiringi dengan perubahan pemimpin. Pada komunitas yang telah mapan, perubahan pemimpin bukan merupakan hal yang utama dalam relasi sosial, terutama dalam tradisi masyarakat pedesaan di Madura, seperti fenomena relasi sosial antar elit bhuju’ Juruan di Batuputih Sumenep. Yang menarik dalam tradisi bhuju’ Juruan adalah rokat bhuju’. Sebuah tradisi yang berkenaan dengan aktivitas seni, hiburan, dan sosial-“keagamaan” berupa pembacaan matera, kejungan, ataupun mamaca. Rokat bhuju’ dilakukan oleh masyarakat yang “kurang mengerti agama”, reng ledha’, reng gunung bhato kalettak, tandha’, bhajingan (blater), dan orang awam atau abangan. Tradisi ini dilakukan dengan pemujaan terhadap makam orang sakti dengan mengetengahkan sesaji, buah-buahan ataupun beras yang diletakkan di altar pemakaman sebagai bagian dari ritual sebagian masyarakat Madura. Realitas ini seakan paradoksal dengan masyarakat Madura yang taat beragama. Bagi masyarakat Madura rokat bhuju’ berbeda dengan kompolan. Suatu aktivitas keagamaan yang digelar dengan mengundang orang lain, tetangga, famili ataupun jemaah masjid untuk berdoa, seperti pembacaan tahlil, yasiin, barzanji, al-Qur’an, ataupun ceramah agama. Kompolan bukan ansich spiritual, ada pula kebutuhan psikologis, jaringan sosiologis antar manusia, kebutuhan sosialisasi, aktualisasi dan kebersamaan melalui tradisi keagamaan. Motif sosial dan keagamaan menjadi bagian penting dari tradisi kompolan. Tradisi kompolan juga memunculkan tokoh lokal dan pengikut (follower) dari kalangan santri, keyae, orang haji (agamis). Sehingga media yang digunakan pun berbeda. Hadrah, dhiba’, samroh, Cinta Rasul, tongtong, qasidah digunakan dalam kompolan, sementara lodrok, tandha’, saronen, bhajang oreng, orkes, tayub identik dengan rokat bhuju’. Bagi kalangan agamawan (santri, kyai dan ulama’) rokat bhuju’ harus dirubah. Sebagian tokoh Madura menghendaki pergantian aktivitas-ritual dalam kegiatan tersebut, berupa “budaya tandingan”, budaya yang baru. Rokat bhuju’ yang dilaksanakan untuk memperingati peninggalan, tradisi, serta jasa tokoh/orang sakti yang telah meninggal hendak dirubah menjadi aktivitas keagamaan. Hal itu dimaksudkan supaya pengikut (followers) rokat bhuju’ insyaf, atau kembali kepada jalan Allah. Meskipun tidak terjadi pergantian pemimpin, namun dalam konteks ini telah terjadi proses metamorfosis, dimana tokoh tidak lagi berasal dari kalangan luar rokat bhuju’. Akan tetapi, berasal dari keturunan tokoh perintis rokat bhuju’ sendiri dengan lebih mengedepankan kegiatan keagamaan dan rokat berganti menjadi kompolan. Strategi ini merupakan hasil pendekatan pada tokoh melalui keturunan/anak-anak yang bersekolah di pesantren di Madura.   Kata kunci: rokat bhuju’, kompolan, keyae, metamorfosis

Abstract

This article aims to criticize the incorporation and commodification of Using cultures undergone by Abdullah Azwar Anas in Banyuwangi, East Java. To answer the problem, we analyze primary data from our field research and secondary data from online media related to AAA’s efforts to incorporate, articulate, and commodify Using cultures into various carnival programs (2011-2017) by applying theories of commodification, postmodernism, and hegemony. The result of this study shows that, driven by his desire to promote Using cultures globally in the midst of postmodern trends, since 2011 the government of Banyuwangi has created many carnivals and festivals, such as “Banyuwangi Ethno Carnival”, “Banyuwangi Beach Jazz Festival”, “Parade Gandrung Sewu”, and other various programs. Economically, the programs are idealized to support the regional economic growth through tourism activities, both for domestic and international tourists, by displaying traditional expressions with new styles and performances. Politically, the carnivals and festivals can support AAA efforts to negotiate its political concern in order to produce consensus.Copyright (c) 2017 by KARSA. The fact describes that it has not been easy to  develop tourism place as it demonstratess in Bali. Toursim development must be natural (sunnatullah), however it finds any handicaps that needs wise response. Madurese tourism development must consider the following: Islam as the major religion of Madurese and the human resource. Hence, tourism must protect the local people become the victim of tourism industry. A good tourism industry is not only economic oriented but also it must gives substantial challenge to Islamic and Madures culture to take role in tourism industry. Mohammad Ali Al Humaidy (Penulis adalah dosen tetap pada Jurusan Syari’ah  STAIN Pamekasan dan Alumni program Magister Ilmu Sosiologi di Universtias Indonesia Jakarta)       Abstrak: Secara sederhana, tulisan ini akan menganalisa penyebab atau sumber terjadinya konflik antar etnik di Kalimantan Barat, yang terfokus kepada tingkatan stratifikasi sosial. Penulis berasumsi bahwa perbedaan stratifikasi sosial yang kemudian terbentuk sistem pranata sosial (The System of Class Stratifications) mempunyai dampak sosial (konflik antar etnis). Pranata sosial dalam aspek ideologi, agama, ekonomi, politik, bahasa, pendidikan, budaya dan norma-norma sosial lainnya, secara teoritik akan menimbulkan gesekan sosial dan pandangan stereotype etnik yang rentan muncul benih-benih konflik bila dalam realitas sosial menampakkan sifat egois dan fanatisme yang nilai-nilai etnisitas. Benih-benih konflik bersifat laten, apalagi bila ditopang dengan harapan untuk menguasai dan mempertahankan power-privilage-prestige. Disinilah timbul pergolakan sosial antara masyarakat “pribumi” dengan pendatang ataupun sesama etnis. Demikian pula munculnya pertentangan antara kelompok yang ingin menguasai dan mempertahankan power-privilage-prestige dengan kelompok yang ingin merebutnya.Bagi penulis ini sebuah ironi yang perlu kita kaji dan mencari alternatif pemecahan. Ini penting karena menyangkut hak usaha dan hidup manusia yang bagian dari hak asasi manusia, sehingga dengan kejadian konflik etnik di bumi nusantara ini, muncul resolusi konflik sebagai usaha untuk membangun masyarakat pluralis tanpa kekerasan.  Alhasil, sebagai masyarakat akademisi mempunyai amanat untuk memberikan sumbangsih pemikiran agar konflik yang bermuansa SARA dapat dikurangi atau bahkan mungkin ditiadakan. Sebuah tantangan untuk mengkaji teori sosiologi khususnya teori (korelasi) stratifikasi sosial dengan konflik sosial. Kata kunci: stratifikasi sosial, etnik, madura, dayak

Abstract

The phenomenon that occurred in some cities shows that the mosque has many additional functions besides the means of worship, such as a place of education and other social activities. Dian Al-mahri Mosque has been functioned widely and gives impact to the community. The impact of tourism can be divided into positive and negative. The purpose of this study is to know the impact from existence of Kubah Emas Mosque (Dian Al-Mahri Mosque) as tourism site in social, culture and environment that are happened in people in Meruyung area. The descriptive qualitative method was used in this study, data collect used observation, questioner, related documents and from key informant which was the urban village head of Meruyung. The research result show social impacts that were felt by people around Meruyung as the spiritual feeling so they are still istiqomah, it was proven by people who came for Hadits study, istighotsah and tausiyah as well as Dakwah. There are a lot of tourists that come by using vehicle, it is impacted directly to the environment, because there are a lot of emissions as well. It makes air pollution and also the traffic around that area. Another impact is garbage from the existence of this tourist site impacts the environment. It is known that the committee of Dian Al- Mahri Mosque have minimalized the negative impacts that are possibly happened. For example, there is a garden as neutralizer of air pollution from the emissions of vehicles and they also forbid the street seller come into the mosque area to make less garbages.Copyright (c) 2017 by KARSA.
