Abstract

The aim of this research was to evaluation growth respon, morbiditas, and the best of feed formulation which use market organic waste. The research was designed using Block (Randomly) Design with 5 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were T0: Ration without usage of market organic waste; T1, T2, and T3, and T4: usage of 25, 50, 75, and 100% of market organic waste  respectively. The result revealed that the treatments did not significantly affect  (P>0,05) daily gain but significantly affect (P<0,01) to dry matter intake so the mount swine morbiditas if consuming young white mustard vegetable waste 100% at treatment of T3 and of T4 and 0% at treatment of T0,T1, and T2. It can be concluded that the best feed formulation which the best of the growth, low morbiditas is T2 with using 50% market organic waste and 50% complete feed. It is suggested that usage of market organic waste in feed of pig livestock shall not exceed 50% and avoid usage of white mustard vegetable waste which still young in order not to happened diarrhoea. Keywords: Performance of production; swine; market organic waste

Abstract

The Effectiveness of Neem (Azadirachta indica) Leaves Extracts, Galangal, and Lemongrass against brown dog ticks (Riphicephalus sanguineus). The study aimed to find out the effect of herbal extracts (consisted of neem leaf, galangal, and lemongrass) against brown dog ticks by in-vivo. Extracting herbal used cold maceration (Ritiasa, 2000) and clinical trial that was conducted in-vivo to dogs infected by brown dog ticks. The study used a randomized block design, consisting of four treatments, i.e. control and three concentrations of herbal extracts (50%, 75%, and 100%); each treatment was replicated three times. Observed variable was the number of dogs free of brown dog ticks infestation in range of 2 weeks - 2 months (in accordance with the application comaphos). Criteria dogs free of parasites was determined by observing and combing dog hair. The numbers of dogs free of brown dog ticks in each cage were analyzed using one way ANOVA. The results showed that in the first week and second week, herbal extracts do not yet performed a significant influence. This is because the effects pharmacokinetics of herbal extracts that were not exposed to the maximum level. The significant effect of herbal extracts started to happen in the third week, especially on herbal extracts with a concentration of 50%, while, the herbal extract at the concentration of 75% and 100% were not significantly different. In the fourth week, 50% concentration showed more significantly, unrestrained dogs could prove this from brown dog ticks infestation. Keywords: herbal extract, Riphicephalus sanguineus

Abstract

Exploiting of Mycorrhiza Vesicular Arbuscular (MVA) to Increase Crop Resistance to Dryness Grasp and Availability of P at Dry farming. Dryness grasp and nutrient deficient especially element of nutrient P is two main limiting factors at dry farming. Both the things will influence growth and crop productivity. One of alternative which applicable to overcome dryness grasp problem and deficient P is by exploiting Mycorrhiza mushroom. Mycorrhiza is form of association of mushroom with high level crop root. One of type Mycorrhiza which now gets serious attention is Mycorrhiza Vesicular Arbuscular (MVA). Association characteristic of Crop with this MVA enables crop can permeate water and nutrient in condition of dryness grasp and element deficient of nutrient especially P. This thing is enabled by MVA to have network hypa external which is wide and diameter which smaller than root fur and enzyme fosfotase capable to dissolve nutrient P to become available and permeates water, at the time of crop root had unable to again permeates it.Keywords: Mycorrhiza Vesicular Arbuscular, Dryness Grasp and Availability of P.

Abstract

At present farming of  Kappaphycus alvarezii is one of the main sources of income for the communities and East Sumba Regency. One important aspect in the context of optimizing seaweed farming there is the determination of suitability of farming areas) based on oceanographic parameters. This study aimed to analyze the level of suitability of farming areas of Kappaphycus alvarezii farmed using off-bottom method in East Sumba Regency. The study sites ware determined by purposive sampling at the locations of Kaliuda, Kandora, Tanaraing, Matawai Atu, Wanga, Daharwali, Mondu and Walakiri. Primary data on the physical-chemical factors of the waters and the existing conditions of farmed were collected in situ in the field. Analyzed of suitability of farming sites using a matrix of suitability, weighting and suitability level according to Utojo et.al (2004). The results found that the conditions of oceanographic factors that affect the growth and development of Kappaphycus alvarezii were in the optimal range for temperature, salinity, and pH; and tolerated for currents, substrates, water transparancy, depth and nitrates. Temperatures range from 29.33 to 31.00?C; salinity ranges between 34.33-34.67?/oo; pH between 7.57-7.83; currents between 0.14-0.25 m/sec; depth between 1.17-2.67 m; water transparancy 100%; nitrates between 0.20-0.35 mg/L. Substrate between coral sand to muddy sand overgrown with seagrasses. The suitability level of Kappaphycus alvarezii farming sites in all sampling locations was Sufficient, this means that the sampling locations representing seaweed farming in East Sumba Regency have limiting oceanographic factors that can be tolerated. Key Words:  Kappaphycus alvarezii, oseanography, suitability level, East Sumba

Abstract

Growth of Tomato (Lycopersicum esculentum, Mill.) and Intercrops of Monoculture and Aromatic-Intercropping Systems. This study is aimed to find method to increase the productivity of tomato plants per unit area of land and to find a combination of aromatic plant species and the best population of tomato plant that can enchance the productivity of tomato plants. This study uses 2 factorial randomized block design. The first factor is the aromatic plant species which consist of 4 level, namely T0: tomato monoculture, T1: intercropping tomato and lemon grass, T2: intercropping tomato and basil, T3: intercropping tomato and coriander. The second factor is tomato plant populations that consists of 3 level namely P1: population 45.000 plants/ha, P2: population 37.500 plants/ha and P3: population 32.140 plants/ha. Each combination treatment is replicated three times. The results indicate that aromatic plants species significantly affect the height of plant, leaf area, leaf area index, stem diameter, plant dry weight and the level of pest attack. Similarly, the population of tomato significantly affect the leaf area, leaf area index, fresh weight of aromatic plants and the level of pest attack. Furthermore, the interaction of aromatic plant species and population size of tomato plants significantlyaffect the leaf area and leaf area index (at 56 days after planting), fresh weight and dry weight of aromatic plants and the level of pest attack. Coriander decreases the level of pest attack which is highest at 48,50% compared to monoculture tomato. directoryKeywords: Tomato, Lemon grass, Basil, Coriander, Intercropping, Pulation

Abstract

Lontar (Borassus flabeliffer L.) fruit is one of the typical fruit East Nusa tenggara (NTT) province, rich in bioactive compounds, containing beta-carotene. The purpose of this study was to test the sensory wet noodles, extra fortification ejection as well as analyzing the feasibility of the production of wet noodles fortified ejection. The study was designedusingcompletely randomized design with two treatments.First treatment was the fortification of palm extract about 30, 40, and 50% (F). And the second treatment was the wheat flour with a protein content about 8, 10, and 12% (T). About 25 trained panelists were testing the sensory properties of treated noodles. The sensory properties included hedonic test for color, smell, texture, firmness and flavor in general and bitter taste on the tongue, followed by calculation of the percentage of each category. Data were analysed using ANOVA and continued with DMRT.The results showed the treatment fortification F1 (30%) and the use of wheat flour T1 (8%),was  the most preferred by the panelists. The panelists were also asked to rate the bitterness of tne noodles on their tongue and none sampledemonstrated a bitter taste. The business analysis of making wet noodles with treatment F1T1 generated revenue cost ratio about 1.221 which indicates that the business is feasible or profitable.

Abstract

Study the Use of Several Ensiling Types as Natural Preservatives to Increase the Chemical and microbiological Characteristics of Smoked Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis L). The research was conducted in the Managing of Fisheries Product Processing Laboratory, University of Sam Ratulangi Manado in order to determine the effect of ensiling types and storage durations on chemical and microbiological characteristics of smoked skipjack tuna. The research used experimental method that was arranged factorially in 4x4, using Completely Randomized Design (CRD), with two replications in order to obtain 32 experimental units. The treatments consisted of two factors, i.e. types of ensiling (factor A) and storage durations (factor B). Factor A was A0 = without ensiling (as control), A1 = ensiling of mustard green, A2 = ensiling of cabbage, and A3 = ensiling of petsai. Factor B was 0 day, 3 days, 6 days, and 9 days. The observed parameters were water content, pH, total acid, total bacteria (TPC), total lactic acid bacteria, and total fungal colony. The results showed that the effect of cabbage ensiling to the chemical and microbiological characteristics of smoked skipjack tuna was better than the other treatments. It can be recognized from the low value of water content (39.78%) and pH (5.00) as well as the high value of total acid (1.03%), in which, it could support the growth of lactic acid bacteria (3.41 cfu / g) and suppress the growth of bacteria (TPC) and fungi. Ensiling of cabbage can be used as natural preservative to maintain the quality and durability of smoked skipjack tuna. It is recommended that further studies are required to identify lactic acid bacteria and to analyze nutrient content in smoked skipjack tuna as the result of certain ensiling utilization in relation to storing duration. Keywords:            storage duration, chemical and microbiological characteristics, smoked skipjack tuna, ensilingStudy the Use of Several Ensiling Types as Natural Preservatives toIncrease the Chemical and microbiological Characteristics of SmokedSkipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis L).
