Abstract

East Java as one of the National food barns has been able to contribute substantially in the fulfillment of National food needs through the development of food crops and horticulture sub-sector. With the potential and achievement of agriculture sector owned by East Java Province, it can improve competitiveness and improve farmer’s income. But behind the potential of this great opportunity development in agroindustry in east java still leaves homework for the Government of East Java Province whether it is the problem from theexternal or internal. This research tries to identify problems in agroindustry development inEast java with Analytic Network Proccess (ANP) combined with Delphi method, including strategic solution that try to offer. ANP is a new supermatrix basedmodel developed by Saaty (2001) to map complex issues into a structured framework. Problems and strategies formed consist of several subcriteria related problems: 1) policy 2) market 3) finance 4) infrastructure 5) Research and Development and 6) Production and processing. The results show that the 3 main criteria that are key to agroindustry development in East Java are policy, infrastructure and finance. Therefore, all stakeholders including Bank Indonesia need to be concerned in these 3 issues, in order to achieve the competitive growth of East Java’s global economy.

Abstract

This research attempts to investigate the export product competitiveness of Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand which are classified into five major groups: primer product, natural research-intensive product, unskilled labor-intensive product, technology-intensive product, and human capital-intensive product. The method used in this research is product mapping, which is the combination between Revealed Symmetric Comparative Advantage (RSCA) and Trade Balance Index (TBI). The result shows that Indonesia has a comparative advantage in the export specialization of primary products, natural research-intensive products, and unskilled labor-intensive products. Singapore and Malaysia have a comparative advantage in technology-intensive products, while Thailand has a human capital-intensive product. This research proves the flying geese pattern of the five groups of products, that if a country becomes a leader of one product, it will become a follower in another product.

Abstract

This study aims to find the relationship between compliance with HDI in East Java. With case study on Surabaya, Sidoarjo and Gresik. Where is expected to recover low HDI East Java in Java Island that year. The method to be used in this research is descriptive Quantitative research method. The first result, success in controlling the population both from the side of birth control and in-migration, will enable the achievement of a relatively low population density. As the population density diminishes, the government’s education budget and health budget will have a more significant impact on improving education and public health. This will ultimately increase HDI, as education and health levels are a dimension in HDI measurement. Second, population control will increase income per capita. the income per capita (GRDP per capita) of GRDP is divided by the total population. With fewer populations, GDP per capita will tend to be higher. High income per capita will increase HDI growth.

Abstract

Village fund programs have been implemented fairly well, except in the case of good governance practices need to be continuously strengthened. Teruta is related to the understanding of the village apparatus, especially BPD, against administrative guidelines for program implementation. Moreover, in reality, the village funding program is very much against the good governance practices and the spirit of poverty reduction. So the benefits received from village funding programs for the poor are very small compared to richer communities. Almost in all study villages, there is a decrease in poverty but the role of village funds in the reduction of poverty is not seen significantly by the citizens. Village funding programs are considered more indirect in reducing poverty, by improving public infrastructure to facilitate public access to public facilities. The creation of employment in village fund infrastructure projects is also not enough to help the poor. In addition to the very limited number of days and unnecessary workers from among the poor.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of financial inclusion on financial system stability and its determinants in Southeast Asian countries from 2007 to 2015. A multidimensional index of financial inclusion (IFI) was used to analyze the financial inclusion index and panel data regression with Fixed Effect Model (FEM) was used to analyze the impact between variables. The estimation using IFI shows that Malaysia has the highest financial inclusion index and estimation using FEM shows that the financial inclusion variable has a negative and not significant impact on financial system stability. Other variables which have a positive and significant impact on financial system stability are GDP per capita, private credit ratio, and liquidity asset ratio. Otherwise, the financial openness index has a negative and significant impact on financial system stability.
