Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates the influence of household income on both car and motorcycle ownerships in the city of Denpasar using a Multinomial Logit Model. The household income is about 61%, 17% and 61% more likely to influence a household owning 1 motorcycle and 1 car, 2 or more motorcycles and 0 car, and 2 or more motorcycles and 1 car respectively than 1 motorcycle and no car. The probability of both car and motorcycle ownerships increases substantially by more than 4% in the next 20 years if household income in Denpasar city rises. This is particulary applied for the household owning 1 motorcycle and 1 car and 2 or more motorcycles and 1 car. The probability of a household owning 1 motorcycle and no car ownership however, drops significantly by almost 10% in the next 20 years if household income in Denpasar city increases. Consequently, the household income significantly influences both car and motorcycle ownerships in the city of Denpasar. A huge number of car and motorcycle uses on the road continously leads to serious transport problems in the city of Denpasar for the next few years. This is related to the negative impacts of transport in particular road safety and environmental impact. Improving the existing public transport and introducing a high quality public transport service within and to/from Denpasar city is urgently required. The fare of such high quality public transport service in Denpasar city however, must be sufficiently low to compete with the cost of riding a motorcycle. In addition, a significant amount of fare subsidy from both local and central government is considerably required

Abstract

The growth of the land use for building in Bali Province may pose problems in the foreseeable future. The primary objective of the research has been to assess the relation of the land use area for the building against time in the period to come, how long the land could support the growth of the land use for building and to identify the regulating method of the land use for building in urban territory of Bali Province in order to be able to sustain long term growth. The research data consisted of the area of the settlement, tourism and cultivation zones that were obtained from The Revised Map of The Bali Province Spatial Planning 2003. The rest of the research data consisted of buildings number and land user in form of data series that were obtained through documents registration technique. Results of the analysis showed that: the forecasted annual growth of land use for building in urban territory of Bali Province was 2.32%; the settlement zone could only support the growth of the land use for the building up until 2013; the tourism zone could support the growth for much longer time; the cultivation zone will be fully used in 2072; efforts so that the land could support the growth of the land use for building longer in urban territory of Bali Province were to reduce population growth or to reduce land use area designated for 1 building user.

Abstract

Nusa Penida Island-Klungkung besides has beautiful views as touristdestination, it also has a potential materials for building and pavement constructionsfrom the large scale of rock lime stone that spreading out on its area. Themain objective of the research is to find out the physical characteristic ofaggregate and its qualities if it meets the Bina Marga Standard. The sample ofrock lime stones were crushed on Aggregate Crushing plan at PT. Sumber AlamKarisma Jaya. The method of descriptive comparative analysis was applied. Thesieve analysis results show that both medium and fine grading coarses fulfill thestandard requirement of Bina Marga, although the coarse aggregate tends tocoarsest. The physical characteristics of Nusa Penida Lime stone namely the bulkdensity was between 2.4 – 2.5 gr/cm3 and the specific gravity was between 2.54 –2.6 gr/cm3, in the range of Bina Marga Standard. The absorption was in the rangebetween 1.77 % and 2.7 % which is less than the standard of 3%. The abrasionresult was of 27 % that is better than Bina Marga Standard of 40%. It is clearlyseen that the Nusa Penida rock lime stone can be used as construction andpavement materials.

Abstract

Abstract: Behavior analysis and performance evaluation of frame structures with infilled wall (RDP) has been done by making four structure models, a model of open framework (MOF) and three RDP models (M1, M2, and M3). In the RDP models, walls in transverse direction of the building was placed fully on the floor 2, 3 and 4, and varied on the ground floor. The wall in longitudinal direction, however, was not included in the model because of the holes and irregularity. The walls on the ground floor were placed fully for M1, at the ends and middle of the building for M2, and none for M3. The walls were modeled as 3 diagonal struts that can withstand compressive stress only. The behavior of the structure was observed through linear elastic analysis by comparing story drift and its ratios, while the performance of the structure was evaluated through nonlinear static Pushover analysis using SAP2000. The analysis showed that the inclusion of infill walls in the model increases the stiffness of the structure. The values of drift at roof level were 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm and 28 mm for M1, M2, M3, and MOF, respectively. Soft story mechanism was detected in the RDP models with irregular wall placement with maximum drift ratio of 157% and 249% for M2 and M3, respectively, while MOF and M1 with continuous wall have drift ratios of 101% and 92%. Discontinuous walls also decrease performance of the structure. Pushover analysis results in the transverse direction showed that M1 is capable of resisting the largest base shear force 658 tons with a level of performance Operational (O), while M2 with O performance levels capable of resisting base shear of 437 tons. M3 and MOF can resist the lowest base shear force of 270 tons and 279 tons with performance level of Immediate Occupancy (IO) and Life Safety (LS). Pushover analysis in the longitudinal direction of the building (where the wall was not modeled) showed that, MOF can resist the least base shear compared to the three RDP models. This suggests that the struts on the transverse direction also affect the stiffness of the structure in the longitudinal direction. The actual value of ductility in the transverse direction of the structure are 4.6; 2.9; 2.8; 3.4; for MOF, M1, M2 and M3, respectively. While in the longitudinal direction the ductility are 3.2; 3.6; 3.8; 3,9. All models ductility values are smaller than the design value, i.e., µ = 5.

Abstract

Flowing water by pipe is mostly used to distribute the water from itssources to taps for various needs. On the way of distribution, it meets some obstacles,i.e.: velocity, surface and roughness changing. Thus, the research has been done inorder to know the influences of all the changes of the head loss on the 1 meter pipe. This research used Fluid Friction Apparatus complete with hydraulic bench andmanometer. Variation of flowing on pipe has done for 50 times, using each 6 mm and10 mm and four 17.5 mm pipe with different roughness which consist of differentsands diameter. From that research we found out that there’s a similarity in velocity and roughnesswith head loss showing polynomial order 2 ( hf = a + bu + cu2 and hf = a + bk + ck2 )where much velocity and roughness causing higher head loss. While pipe surfaceinverse proportional to head loss that shows exponential relationship (hf = a e –bA)where more surface causing less head loss.

Abstract

Damage to roads that often occurs can form cracks, holes, or the sagged;one of the reasons is lack of gradation of aggregate used in accordance with therequirements. The problem is that it is difficult to determine the appropriateproportion aggregate mix gradation in accordance with specifications and there is alack of understanding of the effect given to the characteristics of the mixture due tothe variation obtained in the range of gradation specifications. The research conducted is to examine the characteristics of the variation of theaggregate gradation value, to analyze the characteristics of Laston mixture resultedfrom aggregate gradation variations, as well as to determine the effect of variationgiven by aggregate gradation on the characteristics of the Laston. The test results show the characteristics values as follows. Variation 1: Stability isof 1123.87 kg (spec.>750 kg), flow 4.96 mm (spec.>2 mm), MQ 226.59 kg/mm(spec.>180 kg/mm), VMA is of 13.68% that is not meet specifications (spec.>15%),VIM 4.453% (spec. 3%-6%), VFB 67.87% (spec.>63%). Variation 2: Stability is of1135.37 kg (spec.>750 kg), flow 4.64 mm (spec.>2 mm), MQ 244.76 kg/mm(spec.>180 kg/mm), VMA 15.48% (spec.>15%), VIM 5.122% (spec. 3%-6%), VFB66.87% (spec.>63%). Ideal Gradation: Stability is of 1143.99 kg (spec.>750 kg),flow of 3.653 mm (spec.>2 mm), MQ 313.21 kg / mm (spec.>180 kg/mm), VMA16.48% (spec.>15%), VIM 5.901% (spec. 3%-6%), VFB 64.2% (spec.>63%).Variation 3: Stability is of 1160.58 kg (spec.>750 kg), flow 3.49 mm (spec.>2 mm),MQ 333.81 kg/mm (spec.>180 kg/mm), VMA 16.57% (spec.>15%), VIM is 6.06%which has not met the specification (spec. 3%-6%), VFB 63.44% (spec.>63%).Variation 4: Stability is of 1176.51 kg (spec.>750 kg), flow 3.18 mm (spec.>2 mm),MQ 370 kg/mm (spec.>180 kg/mm), VMA 16.81% (spec.>15%), VIM is of6.359% that has not met the specification (spec. 3%-6%), VFB is of 62.18% thathas not also met the specifications (spec.>63%).Base on the analysis of variance, Ftest value for each characteristic of mixture(stability = 13.67, Flow = 104.81, MQ = 73.705, VMA = 14.675, VIM = 4.5138,VFB = 1.352) is greater than the Ftable value ( = 3.48) with an error rate () used is5%, degrees of freedom treatment is 4 and degrees of freedom random is 10. Thisproves that with the change in treatment (aggregate gradation variations) makes thedifferences in the characteristics of the Laston.

Abstract

Abstract: The paper presents an experimental investigation the effect of circular reinforced concrete short columns strengthening using Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) wrap with variation of overlapping to failure behavior, axial capacity and axial ductility. Twenty one cylindrical concrete specimens with diameters of 150 mm, and 300 mm high were made and tested. Variations of overlapping in this research were 100%, 150%, 200%, 250% and 300 % from overlapping that calculation with GFRP ultimate tension and ultimate debonding strength. Compressive load was applied to the specimens until the specimens failure. Data that note when test were; failure behavior, maximum load and longitudinal strain for every 10 kN increasing load. GFRP with overlapping 100% and 150% failed by sliding (debonding) in overlapping zone, while GFRP with overlapping 200% until 300% failed by broken outside overlapping zone. The experimental results show that circular reinforced concrete columns strengthening by jacketing method/wrapping using one layer of GFRP sheet increasing axial capacity by 11,86% until 15,25% and axial ductility by 12,41% until 47,14%.
