Abstract

Disease disturbance in livestock is one of the obstacles faced in the development of livestock. One of these diseases is a parasitic disease caused by the liver fluke Fasciola spp. known as Dystomatosis, or Fasciolosis. It is known that F. intermedia was found which was characterized based on its morphology. This F. intermedia worm has been found in Pakistan and Iran, based on the results of the analysis F. gigantica and F. intermedia from Pakistan have close proximity to species that exist in Iran. It is important to study morphometry, especially at the Pesanggaran Slaughterhouse (RPH) to see the possibility of F. intermedia in Indonesia, especially in Bali. This study used samples of F. gigantica worms which consisted of 30 samples of worms from 10 gall bladders of Bali cattle obtained from the Pesanggaran Slaughterhouse (RPH). Then, macroscopic and microscopic observations were made. Macroscopic observations were carried out by measuring the length and width of the worm's body while microscopic observations were carried out by observing under a microscope after staining with the Semichoen Acetic Carmine method. From the results of morphometric measurements of the worm F. gigantica, the lowest and highest sizes of the worms were body length (PB) of 20.9 mm with the highest size of 35 mm with an average body length of 29.47667 mm. While the lowest size of the body width (LB) of the worm is 5.3 mm and the highest size is 8.4 mm with an average body width of 7.166667 mm. Based on the size obtained, the studied F. gigantica can be classified into intermediate species (intermedia). The author suggests that there is a need for sanitation in the cattle rearing system in Bali and the provision of deworming drugs to cows.

Abstract

Dogs are very susceptible to infected by fungal species. The fungus that is often found infected dogs is Curvularia sp. Herbal medicine that is believed to be antifungal are ecoenzymes. The ecoenzymes in this study were made from papaya skin (Carica papaya L.), soursop (Annona muricata L.), neem leaves (Azadirachta indica A. Juss) and lemongrass (Cymbopogon nardus L.). This study was carried out to evaluate the effect of ecoenzymes against the growth of Curvularia sp used quantitative methode with modification of agar plate diffusion (Kirby Bauer) with well diffusion technique. This study was experimental and used a completely randomized design with 6 treatments, ecoenzyme concentration 5%, 10%, 15% and 100%, positive control used itraconazole, and negative control used aquades. Data analysis used ANOVA and continued with the Games-Howell test. The result showed that the inhibitory zones at ecoenzyme consentration 5%, 10%, 15%, and 100% were 3,50 mm; 4,82 mm; 6,02 mm; and 8,85 mm, respectively. Ecoenzyme in this study could inhibited fungal growth because of the ingredient contain antifungal substance like alkaloid carpaine, terpenoid, azadirachtin, nimbin, nimbidin, sitronela, and geraniol and pH reducer, so Curvularia spp that grew well in range of 4.0-10 could inhibited.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the soil around the cowshed and grazing land. Soil is the source of infection/infestation of L3 (larval stage 3), infective eggs, oocysts and mite or ticks. Soil-Transmitted Pathogens are organisms that live on the ground, but in a short time, then the continuity of the cycle requires a host. The cow acts as host in this case. The aim of the study is to isolate the type of parasitic contamination in the soil around the enclosure and grazing land. Each soil sample of 100 is collected from dry calcareous areas (Jimbaran) and the wet regions (Mengwi-Badung). The float method with MgSO4 (English salt) is modified as a method to determine the type of soil contamination. The results of the study showed 45% (90/200) soil contaminated by parasites. The parasite contamination found is coccidia oocyst, protozoa cyst, trematode and nematode worm eggs, nematode worm larvae and mite eggs and larvae. Conclusions from the results are 45% of the soil are contaminated by parasitic namely protozoa, worm eggs, mite larvae and eggs from the Bukit Jimbaran region (29%) and Mengwi (61%).

Abstract

Indonesia as a maritime country that has fish resources that cannot be separated from various types of virus infections. Viral infections in fish cause death due to multiorgan damage to fish such as necrosis and hemorrhage. Fish deaths result in economic losses for fish farmers. The lack of knowledge of fish farmers about fish diseases and their prevention is one of the factors in the high cases of viral infectious diseases in fish. This paper is to present fish diseases due to viral infections that threaten fish farming in Indonesia such as: Viral Nervous Necrosis, Koi Herpes Virus, Channel Catfish Virus Diseases, Infectious Pancreatic Necrosis, and Lymphocystic Disease Virus. The source of the study in this paper comes from research reports or literature on viral infections in fish, specifically case reports on fish farming in Indonesia. The viral infectious disease can be acute or chronic where the infection occurs due to the presence of virus-carrying fish so that it spreads and infects other fish. It is hoped that this paper will be a source of information on viral diseases in fish that can help in the prevention and control of viruses in fish. Improving water quality, securing water temperature, and selecting the right seeds will be the first actions in handling and preventing viral infectious diseases in fish. In addition, socialization from relevant agencies is needed to provide guidance to fish farmers in especially in disease prevention

Abstract

Traditional medicine is a national cultural heritage that needs to be preserved and developed to support health, one of which is the cemcem (Spondias pinnata (L.f) Kurz) plant whose leaves are used. This study aims to determine the class of chemical compounds contained in the ethanol extract of cemcem leaves. The sample used in this study was cemcem leaves obtained in the Denpasar City area, Bali. Cemcem leaves were first extracted using 70% ethanol solvent, then a phytochemical test was carried out to detect the presence of active compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, triterpenoids/steroids, and tannins. After the data is obtained then analyzed descriptively qualitatively. The results showed that the ethanol extract of cemcem leaves contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, triterpenoids/steroids, and tannins. The 70% ethanol extract of cemcem leaves grown in Denpasar City positively contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, phenolics, and triterpenoids/steroids. This research is an early stage to detect the content of secondary metabolites of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, triterpenoids/steroids, and tannins, therefore it is necessary to carry out further research on cemcem leaves, for example fractionation so that later it can be applied in the field of veterinary science.

Abstract

Broiler chickens are superior breeds resulting from crossbreeding and genetic engineering that have high productivity, especially meat production, and can be harvested at the age of 5 weeks. Broiler chicken productivity can be seen from the performance and white blood cell profile through the feed consumed. One of them is BSF maggot flour. The purpose of this study was to see whether the addition of BSF maggot flour affected ration consumption, feed conversion, body weight gain, and white blood cell profile in starter phase broiler chickens. The method used is an experimental method, using a completely randomized design (CRD). 100 chickens used were divided into 4 treatments (P0, P1, P2, P3) with 25 in each treatment. Analysis of the data used is the Analysis of Variance with the results of the analysis presented in the form of tables and curves. Based on the results obtained statistically that BSF (Black Soldier Fly) maggot flour had no significant effect on body weight gain, ration consumption and feed conversion. From the results of blood tests, BSF maggot flour (Black Soldier Fly) has an effect on the differential of white blood cells, but it has no significant effect because the results of the examination obtained various results influenced by various things such as environmental conditions, weather and climate, and nutrition. Suggestions for further research are to determine the digestibility of the feed added to BSF (Black Soldier Fly) maggot flour and to perform a proximate analysis on the BSF (Black Soldier Fly) maggot flour to be used.
