Abstract

Cituis Waters is one that is in the waters of the Coastal Tangerang and directly adjacent to the commercial and port activities in Tangerang and Jakarta. The waters of an estuary of the river that crosses the region Cirarab Tangerang and Jakarta. The high activity of settlements and industries throughout the area of Tangerang and Jakarta generate organik waste and empties into the waters Cituis. High organik matter content in waters will result in eutrophication waters. This study aims to determine the content of organik matter in the waters Cituis and indications of eutrophication in the waters. Sampling of random sampling survey carried out in five sampling points along BOD5ies Cituis April 2013. Descriptive analysis by the Ministry of Environment Decree Number 51 of 2004 on marine water quality standards for water biota. Nitrate and phosphate are high and have passed the quality standards set so that these waters are indicated experiencing eutrofikasi. The content of BOD5 and DO are still in accordance with the quality standards set.

Abstract

Research has been conducted to determine the effect of sterilizer combination to the contamination level of Pegagan’s (Centella asiatica L. Urban ) explant. Lamina and petiolus were used as an explant. Sterilizer combination is divided into two groups; Methods 1 (M1) and Methods 2 (M2). M1 consists of 0,5% Tetracycline solution, 0,3% Bayclean solution, 0,7% Dithane suspension, 0,3% Tetracycline solution, and aquadest. Meanwhile, M2 consists of Dettol solution, alkohol 70%, 20% Bayclean solution, 0,3% Dithane suspension, and Aquadest. The difference of both methods were on the presences of antibiotics (Tetracycline) in M1 and desinfectans (Bayclean) in M2. Research shows that lamina sterilized by M2 has less contamination than M1, although the petiolus show the same level of contamination. It is believed to be related to the structure that makes lamina contaminated easily.

Abstract

Gunung Ambang Nature Reserve is one of the preserved areas which serve to protect the flora and fauna that live in it. This study aimed to analyze the abundance of butterflies (Lepidoptera) on various types of habitat in the area of the Gunung Ambang Nature Reserve, North Sulawesi. Sampling of habitat include primary forest, secondary forest, plantation and scrub. Sampling used a sweeping technique that follows the line transect which applied at random along the 1000 meters in each habitat type. The result obtained 5 families of insect, that Nymphalidae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Riodinidae, and Satyridae, including 37 species and 560 individuals. The most Family found are Nymphalidae (72.50%), while the majority of species is Lohara dexaminus (24.64). The highest abundance of butterflies found in scrub habitat and the lowest on the plantation. Results of this research are expected to be the data base about the abundance of butterflies in North Sulawesi.

To develop situ in South Tangerang City into a tourist attraction water have to do with management and systematic program so that it can develop into a regional tourist mainstay. This study used survey methods, sampling points is determined by purposive sampling. Analysis was conducted on the water quality analysis, analysis of scoring to assess the quality of it, and Travel Compliance analysis. From the results of taking the measurements of water quality, the average quality of the water in Situ Gitung Ciledug and still comply with the quality standards based on Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001 on water quality management. Based on data from travel suitability index for fishing and boating between Situ Situ Gintung Ciledug and has a value equal weight, namely 81.48% and 94.12% second means it feasible to develop ecotourism activities such as fishing and boating.

Method of observation and interviews do with the inventory type of host plants, food plants and shelter. The results showed that the number of individuals G. androcles, namely 61 individu, which consisted of 45 individu found in travel areas Pattunuang and 16 individu found in the travelarea Bantimurung. was found 5 nectar plant species, one species of host plants, and 7 species as shelter. G.androcles female butterflies lay their eggs on the leaves Uvaria rufa from Family Annonaceae that encountered around travel areaPattunuang, but not found in Bantimurung. Plants mature trees that dominate the area, namely travel area Pattunuang Arenga pinnata (INP 17,15) and Canangium odoratum with INP 17,02. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explain the potential and strategy to develop ethnobotany tradition of Mentawai tribe as a sustainable ecotourism. The research method used in this study was qualitative approach with interviews and direct observations. The results showed that ethnobotany tradition practices were environmentally based activities that have prioritized environmental conservation aspect. Various ethnobotany tradition practices were potentially to be developed as commodity for local ecotourism packages through business management approach. The positive impacts derived from the development of ethnobotanical ecotourism were: 1). Conservation of useful plant diversity; 2). Preservation of the rural communities‟ local wisdom; 3). Abstract

Alpinia galanga (L.) Willd., or lengkuas is native plant in Indonesia, which is used as medicine and spices. The use of plants as medicine and spices relates to its compounds of secondary metabolites esspecially the essential oil. This article aims to explain the uses and essential oil of Alpinia galanga. This article is based on literature offline and online media. Offline literature used the books, whereas online media used Web, Scopus, Pubmed, and scientific journals. Based on a study of ethnobotany galangal used as medicine, spices and insecticide. Alpinia galanga have 167 types of essential oils are 110 types in leaves , 108 types in stem, 107 types in rhizomes, and 108 types in root (Jirofetz et al. 2003). Essential oils of Alpinia galanga have biologycal activities as inhibit the growth of microbes that cause damage to the food and inhibit free radicals, so that to be potential as a natural food preservative and as an antioxidant. Keywords: Alpinia galanga, essential oil, antioksidan, dan antimikroba.
