Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of turmeric powder and fish meal administration after the productivity declining period on hemoglobin level and total erythrocyte of japan quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica L.). This study use the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and analyzed with ANOVA followed by a Duncan test. Sixty quails were divided into four groups, each consist of three quails with five replications. the study concludes on the ninth month. The treatments were AP0: Quails were given standard feed, AP1: Quails were given standard feed and turmeric 54mg / quail / day on 7-8 months old, BP0: Quails were given standard feed plus 85% fish meal, 15 %, BP1: Quails were given feed standard 85%, 15% fish meal, and and turmeric powder 54mg/ quail /day on 7-8 months old. The results of this study showed that administration of turmeric powder in the feed affected hemoglobin level and total erythrocyte. Addition of turmeric powder in the feed can repair blood metabolism japan quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica L.). While, fish meal in the feed did not affect hemoglobin level and total erythrocyte the japan quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica L.).Keywords: Fish Meal, Hemoglobin level, Japan Quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica L.), Total Erythrocyte, and Turmeric

Abstract

Neem leaves contain flavonoid, triterpenoid and saponin compounds that have antifertility potential to suppress of reproduction rate of rodentia pests. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of neem leaf ethanol extract on gonadosomatic index (GSI), number and size of atresia follicles in female mice. This study used a Completely Randomized Design Method consist of 5 treatments and 4 replications namely K + (Contraceptive Pills); K- (Aqua); P1, P2 and P3 (Treatment of neem leaf ethanol extract at dosage of 8.4 mg / kgBW, 11.2 mg / kgBW and 14 mg / kgBW). The treatment was administered orally at a volume of 0.2 ml / animal every morning for 21 days. Measurement of body weight was conducted at the beginning of treatment and every 7 days. The ovaries were isolated, weighed and histologically processed using paraffin method and H & E staining. the number and diameter of atresia follicles were counted on ovaries. The data was analyzed using ANOVA test and DMRT test at 95% confidence level. The results showed that neem leaf ethanol extract had no significant effect GSI and diameter of atresia follicle but had significant effect on the number of atresia follicle. It can be concluded that neem leaf ethanol extract can increase the number of atresia follicle in mice by suppressing the synthesis and action of reproductive hormone. Abstract

Cituis Waters is one that is in the waters of the Coastal Tangerang and directly adjacent to the commercial and port activities in Tangerang and Jakarta. The waters of an estuary of the river that crosses the region Cirarab Tangerang and Jakarta. The high activity of settlements and industries throughout the area of Tangerang and Jakarta generate organik waste and empties into the waters Cituis. High organik matter content in waters will result in eutrophication waters. This study aims to determine the content of organik matter in the waters Cituis and indications of eutrophication in the waters. Sampling of random sampling survey carried out in five sampling points along BOD5ies Cituis April 2013. Descriptive analysis by the Ministry of Environment Decree Number 51 of 2004 on marine water quality standards for water biota. Nitrate and phosphate are high and have passed the quality standards set so that these waters are indicated experiencing eutrofikasi. The content of BOD5 and DO are still in accordance with the quality standards set.

Abstract

Carbon sink plants analysis from campus UNPAD Jatinangor green space a was conducted in January-March 2017. Campus UNPAD Jatinangor green space is divided into two parts namely cluster I (Campus Forest) and cluster II (Green Line of Road, Park, and Green Parking Area) green space. The purpose and objective of this research are to know the potential of biomass and carbon sink in the of cluster I and cluster II of UNPAD campus Jatinangor green space. The method used is the total census method. The result of the first cluster green space biomass density values obtained (DB) in the amount of 484.52 tonnes / Hectares, carbon density of 242.9 tonC / Hektares, and the value of the spare CO2 density (DCC) at 6780.31 tonCO2 / ha, with a total area of 62.59 hectares. DB value of RH cluster II in the amount of 505.90 tonnes / Hectares, density carbon (DC) amounted to 252.9 tonC / Hectares, and the value of 3077 tonCO2 DCC / Hectares, with a total area of 95.65 Hectares.DB value of cluster II green space in the amount of 505.90 tonnes / Hectares, density carbon (DC) amounted to 252.9 tonC / Hectares, and value of the spare CO2 density (DCC) of 3077 tonCO2 / Hectares, with a total area of 95.65 Hectares. There 4 kinds of plants obtained from Padjadjaran University campus Jatinangor green space which has the highest biomass and carbon sinks are Ficus Elastica (Roxb) with a value of 230345.06 kg of biomass and carbon sinks for 2708.71kg, ficus benjamina (L) with a value of 5314.68 kg of biomass, and the value sinks carbon at 2657.34 kg, Enterolobium cyclocarpum (Osbeck) with a value of 2677.49 kg of biomass and carbon sinks value of 1338.75 kg, Ficus virens (Aiton) with a value of 2148.77 kg of biomass and carbon sinks value of 1074.38 kg. Abstract

Research of flowering phenology has been conducted on Wijaya Kusuma (Ephiphylum oxypetalum). The study was conducted in September 2012 - February 2013. This research aims to determine the effect of light and wind to the flowering phenology in E. oxypetalum. Total of 20 pots of Wijaya Kusuma placed at two different locations. Total of 10 pots of Wijaya Kusuma placed at quite light with lot of wind, and 10 pots placed in the shade with little wind. Wijaya Kusuma were placed in the shade vegetative growth faster than the others. Wijaya Kusuma were placed in quite light with lot of wind begun flowering at 8-16 weeks after planting. Flowering begun with the appearance of prospective interest in phylocladia node. Candidates flowers will bloom on the ninth day and bloom only 1-2 hours at midnight. Flowers wither on the tenth day and fall on day thirteen. Wijaya Kusuma were placed in the shade and a little wind is not flowering, but flowering may be induced by placing its in a bright place and a lot of wind. In this study concluded that wind and light affect the process of flower formation in plants Wijaya Kusuma. Keywords: Ephiphylum oxypetalum, Phenology, Flowering

Abstract

Since 2007, Indonesia has been declaring war with malnutrition which are roots of health problems. Research was conducted to found out nutritional status distribution of Akfis UKI students as a preliminary research to evaluate and improving their health status. Research conducted as qualitative descriptive of height, weight and body mass index of 127 persons. Research shown that of Akfis UKI students found 29.9% were stunted; 10.22% obesity; 5% overweight; 19.66% wasted and 3.14% severely wasted. Body mass index’ data correlated with vital signs data of the same students, which are 1.81% hypotension student; 8.17% prehypertension; 3.62% hypertension, dan 21% tachycardia. Correlation of nutritional and vital sign status is 0.11. Therefore, no correlation between body mass index and vital signs. Keywords : body mass index, obesity, wasted
