Abstract

An occupation with a high risk of work fatigue is an occupation in textile industry. The involvement of women in the textile industry sector in Indonesia is dominant. Women labors who run work on domestic and public sector will be less inclined a work fatigue. Subjective fatigue is the problem faced by women workers at production division weaving loom unit of  PT. X. This study aimed to determine occupational stress that could cause subjective fatigue in weaving loom unit PT. X.Type of this observational analytic study was using a cross sectional design. The number of research subject were 95 people. An occupational stress is independent variable. The dependent variable is a subjective fatigue. Occupational stress measurement was using job stress indicator questionnaire. Subjective fatigue measurement was using Subjective Self Rating Test questionnaires. The effect of strength is calculated by using Odds Ratio (OR) from bivariate analysis. Chi square test used as significance test. All test used 95% confidence interval and significance level of p 0,05.Result: Chi square test result showed that occupational stress has significant association with subjective fatigue. Women workers with moderate occupational stress has higher risk of subjective fatigue more than low occupational stress, significantly had greater odds ratio (respectively 4,22 and 9,65; 95 % CI; p-value 0,00). Conclusion : An occupational stress is risk factors of subjective fatigue women workers in weaving loom unit PT. Abstract

Fire is a common risk in the oil and gas processing industry such as PT Pertamina Asset 4 Field Sukowati. Fire risk management is important to prevent large damages and losses in the  fire incidence. This study aims to describe fire risk management at PT Pertamina Asset 4 Field Sukowati. It is hoped that it can be useful as a reference for evaluating companies to improve fire risk management performance. This research is classified as observational descriptive research with purposive sampling data collection method. The analysis of the study used the Risk Management based on AS / NZS 4360: 2004 reference. The results showed that fire risk at PT Pertamina Asset 4 in Sukowati Field based on the stages of work varied from low, medium to high. The fire protection system at PT Pertamina Aset 4 Field Sukowati generally shows good conditions and is well monitored. Fire emergency response planning and organization are also adequate. Unfortunately, fire emergency response simulations have not been carried out regularly, so evaluating the success of fire risk management programs is difficult to measure. The recommendation in this study is the measurement of workers' preparedness as a follow-up to the implementation of fire emergency response simulations. It is because high worker preparedness is the key to implementing good fire risk management.Keyword: Risk management; Fire; PT Pertamina

Abstract

One of the main causes of loss in the company or industry is an occupational accident. The loss were losing work time, companies spend a lot of money to do the treatment to the victim or the cost for damages that arise. Industri Baja X Gresik aas one of the largest steel processing industry in Indonesia has potential hazards that can lead to work accidents. The aim of this research was to know the description of work accidents in Industri Baja X Gresik including the characteristics and history of accidents workers. This research was descriptive observational research conducted to crossectional approach. The respondent of this study were the total population of workers who had experienced occupational accidents from September 2016 to August 2017. Most of the workers (55%) from 4 units of work have experienced accidents such as scratched, cut or slashed. The most dominant factor were the unsafe behavior (55%) and the unsafe condition (20%). Conclusion : The work accident that happened in Industri Baja X Gresik in consequence of unsafe act and unsafe condition. Eventhough not a fatal accident if an accident then the main cause should be eliminated. Recommendation : The Company should take prevention with adequate use of PPE, the implementation of 5 R and control of production space and safety promotion activity to increase worker knowledge and awareness in order to decrease accident rate for worker with age group below 45 years. Keywords : accidents, metal industry, Indonesia

Abstract

The construction sector is one of the highest accidents. Most accidents are caused by unsafe acts, one of which is the failure to use PPE. The behavior of PPE is influenced by many factors including knowledge and supervision. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and supervision of the use of PPE in construction workers PT WIKA Beton Boyolali. This research is an observational analytic research with Cross Sectional approach with sampling technique that is Simple Random Sampling. The sample of the study was 54 male laborers. Level of Knowledge, Control and Behavior of Use of PPE is measured using a questionnaire. The data obtained were analyzed by Gamma and Somers'd test for independent variable relationship with dependent variable, then for multivariate analysis with Multiple Logistic Regression test. The result shows that there is correlation between knowledge level with behavioral usage of APD at significance value p = 0.018 and value r = 0.538 and relationship between supervision with behavior of APD usage at significance value p = 0.012 and value r = 0.291. Based on the multivariate analysis, it was found that the knowledge level was the most influential variable on the behavior of APD with p-value = 0.005 and OR = 37.263, then control with p-value = 0.038 and OR = 9.048 and the working period with p-value = 0.074 and OR = 0.115. Conclusion There is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and supervision of the behavior of PPE. The variable that has the most influence on the behavior of PPE is the level of knowledge.Keywords: Knowledge, Supervision, Behavior, APD, Construction Worker

Abstract

Vision (visual acuity) is a measure of how far the details of an object can caught by the eye so that the vision can be called an important eye physiology. Preliminary observations to 10 welding workers showed that 10 workers or 100% experience visual complaints with VFI more than 0.4 and many workers who complain of a sharp decrease in vision. This research is analytic observation research with cross sectional method. In this study the population was 91 respondents with Purposive Sampling sampling method so that the total sample was 74 respondents. Chi-Square test results on the discipline variable of  PPE use obtained p - value (0.001) PR=283.500(CI 95%= 30.060-2673.699), length of work obtained p - value (0.001) PR=24.600 (CI 95%= 6.961-86.935), length of exposure obtained p - value (0.001) PR=30.000 (CI 95%= 7.491-120.138), exposure distance obtained p - value (0.001) PR=24.667 (CI 95%= 6.824-89.157), and daily habits obtained p - value (0.001) PR=23.611 (CI 95%= 6.021-92.591) on sharpness vision so that it can be concluded that all variables have a significant relationship to sharp vision (vision ). Advive to the Manpower Office to make policies related to occupational safety and health for welding, fostering,and supervising workers in promoting and preventing efforts to prevent occupational diseases, especially those related to providing information that is expected to provide understanding to owners and welding workers on how to conduct safe welding and conduct periodic monitoring of occupational safety and health conditions to the welding industry and provide guarantees of safety to workrs so as to avoid occupational diseases.Keywords: Sharp Vision (Vision), Characteristics of Welding Workers, Welding Industry

Abstract

The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is a way to control and reduce the risk of accidents. Worker of waste processing facility was handling the election process until destruction that can cause various diseases when not using PPE. The general objective of this research wa to study the description of the factors that related to PPE using compliance in waste processing workers in Dr Soegiri Hospitals. This study was an observational study. 7 workers who do waste processing in Dr Soegiri Hospitals was the population study. The studied variables were described of the relationship between knowledge, attitude, availability of PPE, PPE accessibility, training in the use of PPE, supervision, warning, punishment with compliance in using PPE. Results showed that the respondents have good knowledge and had a positive attitude, PPE was available, easy PPE accessibility, partly following a training in using PPE, was not routinely given a warning, never get punishment but only warning, most of the respondents use the PPE. Respondents who had knowledge and a good attitude, had good compliance in the use of PPE. Availability of PPE was complete and easy accessibility, but not all the respondents always comply to used PPE and respondents who received training more than once tend to be more comply. In a regular monitoring, the compliance of the respondents in the use of PPE tend to be better. Respondents who did not often reprimanded then had higher compliance and all respondents has never gotten punishment. The conclusion was the predisposing, enabling and reinforcing could give reinforcement in PPE use (compliance). Based on the research results expected that always using PPE needed, as well as management were suggested for training and increase surveillance that can motivate workers in the use of PPE.Keyword: personal protective equipment; compliance; hospital waste

Abstract

 The design or redesign of the work station take into account of benefits as well as the purpose of the components of the working system involved: human, equipment, and physical working environment.  The main purpose of this research was to redesign the work station based on ergonomic principle. This research was a descriptive research conducted in one cosmetics factory in Surabaya with 10 operator samples in packing line in morning and afternoon shift. Redesign of the work station based on measurement of physical dimension of work station and anthropometry of operator body. The result of this research is known that some operator work station in doing packing activity less pay attention to ergonomic principles so there need to be redesain work station. Working conditions after the redesign of work stations to be better with the size of work equipment such as table (line conveyor), chairs, and layout boxes that have been adjusted to the anthropometry data of operator. Abstract

PT Nojorono Tobacco International is one of the biggest cigarette factories in Indonesia. This company  has a commitment to implement Occupational Health and Safety Management System (SMK3) based on PP No 50 Tahun 2012 with a purpose to reduce the number of workplace accidents. The purpose of this reserach is to know about the goal and steps that has been taken to implement SMK3 plans in PT Nojorono Tobacco Internationa, also an adaption that doing by company with the impementation of SMK3 and the fuctions from HRD department to support the implementation of SMK3.This research uses descriptive method and the data was collect by interview. As result, the goal from the implementation of SMK3 in PT Nojorono Tobacco International to achieve zero accident workplace with steps that has been taken is Safety plans with the adaption, determine commitment and policy of Occupational Health and Safety, training about SMK3, and form organization structure, and Occupational Health that doing by company is doing Hazard Identification and Risk Assestment that followed by Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) usage rule  Hazard Identification Risk Assessment that followed by PPE usage rule.The functions from HRD Department to support the implementation of SMK3 in PT Nojorono Tobacco International is form Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) division and give training about K3.   Key words: SMK3, PT NTI, Workplace Accident

Abstract

AbstractOffice is a place for a group of people to carry out administrative activities. The office was formed with the aim of providing good and controlled communication and recording services for information. Office activities generally consist of activities related to office planning, office organizing, office direction, and office supervision. Seeing the complex types of activities in the office, of course, there are activities and use of office equipment that can affect the air quality in the room. The problem of indoor air quality is recognized as an important risk factor for health because the working community spends most of its time in the building or work space. Decreasing air quality in space can cause health problems for residents or commonly called sick building syndrome.The purpose of this study in general is to determine the air quality of the room which includes physical factors and chemical factors and compare with the standard values based on the regulation of the ministry of health of the Republic of Indonesia number 48 of 2016 concerning office health and safety.The object in this study is one of the offices in the city of Surabaya. The position of this office location is located in the middle of Surabaya. The number of rooms measured in this research is 11 rooms.Based on the results of measurements of physical factors in the office space, the results of noise measurements still meet the standards, there are 9 rooms that do not meet the lighting standards, there are 5 rooms that do not meet room temperature standards and there are 7 rooms that do not meet humidity standards. the results of testing the chemical factors for the parameters CO, CO2, O2 and Ozone still meet the standards, HCOH parameters there are 3 locations that do not meet the standards and parameters of dust, there can be 4 rooms that do not meet the standards. Keywords: evaluation; indoor air qualty; office room.

Abstract

Background. Hospital is included in the criteria of workplace with various health hazards, especially for the people who work in hospital. Anxiety is one of health problem faced by workers in hospital. Anxiety is a condition with the feeling of worrying which somatic symptom can be persist also, that may influence occupational health and safety. Nurses in hospital work with shift system which has many negative effect to the health. One of those negative effect is anxiety. There are many factors that can influence anxiety, these factor is for example personality types.Objective. This study aims to determine the correlation of personality type and shift work with anxiety level on nurses who work in Emergency Room and Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit in Mental Hospital “X”.Research Method. The type of this study is observational analytic study using a cross sectional design. The number of research subject were 30 people. Independent variables are personality type and shift work. The dependent variable is anxiety level. Variable measurement of shift work were using respondents identity questionnaire. Variable measurement of personality type was using the Bortner scala. Anxiety level measurement was using Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaires. The effect strength is calculated by using Odds Ratio (OR) from bivariate analysis with logistic regression. Chi square and Fisher test used as significance test. All test used 95% confidence interval and significance level of p 0,05.Result. The result of analysis showed a significant correlation between personality type and shift work with anxiety level on nurses in ER and PICU with with p value 0,03 OR  0,09 (CI 95% 0,01-0,87) dan OR afternoon shift  4,5 (CI 95% 0,63-32,3) dan OR night shift  15,75 (CI 95% 1,75-141,40).Conclusion. There is a significant correlation in personality type and shift work variable with the anxiety level among nurses in ER and PICU Mental Hospital “X”. Keywords. Shift work; anxiety level; nurses.
