Abstract

This study describes the community preferences on land use arrangement in Lekopancing Village, Tanralili Subdistrict, Maros District. The results showed that the preferences of society towards the selection patterns of land use private forest determined by social factors, economic factors, and external factors. Social factors such as success stories of two persons in this village whom earn a large income from the plantation of Gmelina arborea (white teak), which is accompanied by social capital in the form of local knowledge and cultural system based on reciprocity. Economic factors, that is people felt motivated caused by increased income through the white teak plantation. External factors, such as KBR incentive programs and the provision of forestry extension worker, become the driving factors too.

Abstract

This study have purpose to determine the rattan trading channel and rattan trading functions, to know the interests of actors who play a role in every channel of rattan commerce and to know the power relations of each actor in the rattan trading channel. The research was conducted in February 2017 with the research location in Batu Village Pitu Riase Sub-District Sidenreng Rappang Regency. Sampling was done by purposive sampling with farmer sample as many as 5 samples. For the involved trading institutions are determined by a search method in which 3 collectors sample sample and 1 sample of wholesalers. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Method of data analysis used is descriptive analysis to analyze farmer selling price and buying price of intermediary trader and to know the interest and relation of actor who play role in rattan trading channel. The results conclude that there is one trade channel in the research area, namely: farmers - collectors traders - wholesalers. The results of operational efficiency analysis show that the trading system channel is not efficient yet. The reason is the farmers still play a role as the recipient of the price. The level of importance between the actors on the rattan trading channel in Batu Village is different. Of the three elements of power (trust, incentive and coercion) can be concluded that the actors are influential and have the highest power of traders (industry).

Abstract

Population increase encourages people to change land use in Malino sub watershed. The forest area converted into non-forest areas such as agricultural or settlements. This study aims to determine the status and potential of water absorbtion region. This research was conducted in the Malino sub watershed maps using land units derived from overlapping maps of slope, soil type, rainfall and land use. Moreover, the determination of the water absorbtion region refer to the Technical Plan for Forest and Soil rehabilitation - basin. The results showed that up to 27,05% of the total Malino Sub Watershed is critical condition, normal condition as much as 49,70% and a good conditions as much as 23.25%.  The Malino sub watershed still good potential to absorb water. In natural conditions, the use of land as dry bush agriculture to intervene it is advisable to agroforestry or timber planted with long lasting in order to be a good absorbtion region, while for normal condition advised to planting of agroforestry with pattern alley cropping.

Abstract

The aim of research is to identification butterflies species at Pattunuang Resort and increased knowledge of Elementary School students about the roles of insects as pollinators and main part of biodiversity in nature. The research as a survey was conducted in Pattunuang Resort and SDN 129 Inpres Bantimurung Regency, Maros District from March to May 2017. The steps of research was:  1) build transect lines for butterflies observation; 2) butterfly identification and counting of their population used Shannon-Wiener Index Biodiversity, then 3) introducing butterflies species to Elementary School students Class Five at SDN 129 Inpres Bantimurung. The result was showed, we find  20 individual butterflies from 6 species of Papilionids (Troides haliphron, T. helena, Papilio demoleus, P. demolion and Graphium agamemnon), also Danaus chrysippus from Nymphalids. Based value of Shannon-Wiener Index, we find very low criteria of butterflies (H < 1). The conclusion : 1) findings of 20 butterflies individual from 6 species (Papilionids and Nymphalids); 2) approximately  57.3% of Elementary School students recognized butterflies species and 3) 28.8% from them as a butterflies wild hunter. Recommendation for the future, we need more collaborative research and development from University and local government increasing introducing butterflies conservation species for Elementary School students around Pattunuang Resort.

Abstract

Average income of Pattaneteang rural community aren’t ideal. This condition is resulting land utilization of rural forest in preserved forest area to increase their income and threats the forest sustainability in both rural community. Therefore, it is necessary to note the influence from both rural community income either from inside nor outside the rural forest on community management land as one of the indicators of to preserved forest sustainability. The quantitative approach used in this research is used to analyze field and secondary data as comparative data. From the research it is know, the biggest Pattaneteang income is gain by using land outside the rural forest worth Rp. 14.060.500/Family/Year, while using land inside rural forest only worth Rp. 3.338.000/Family/Year. This income affects the community management land as an indicator of the condition of preservation of protected forest areas in both of the rural.

Abstract

The management of protected areas and the surrounding community is an inseparable part. Community around the forest area is a component that interacts directly with the forest area. Interaction of the community with the forest area is influenced by the community's perception of the forest itself. This research was carried out at hamlet which bordered directly on Ko'mara Wildlife Reserve. Data collection was done by field observation, interview, questionnaire and study literature. The level of perception is determined by means of scoring techniques and the factors influencing the perception of the community are described descriptively. The results showed that: (1) the public perception on Karemanepasan and Karepatodo hamlet is moderate, while Ballaborong hamlet is low. (2) Age of the respondent in the productive age range, there is still a chance for a change in perception towards better. The low level of education of respondents influences the insight and way of thinking in the perception of the forest area. The work of the interviewees as farmers, who are heavily dependent on forests as water suppliers for their farms, can form a positive perception. Community engagement can be generally positive because the community can be a means of advising the reserve by the Area Manager.

Abstract

The dialectics between local government interest versus the central government in forestry sector are the main topics of forestry today. Natural silk management is the interest of local government that has been assimilated into Forest Management Unit (KPH)in the form of KPHP Awota Model Awota. Until now, there is no scientific study on the potential of silkworm cultivation development in this areal. Therefore this study aims to analyze the potential of silkworm cultivation development. This potential in question is the institutional system, biophysical potential, environmental potential, market potential and financial value. The results showed that the development of silkworm cultivation in KPHP Awota Model area has the advantage of biophysical potential, environmental potential, marketing potential and financial value. However, this activity has an obstacles in the institutional issues primarily in the management of silkworm cultivation from upstream to downstream sectors.

Abstract

One effort to reduce environmental damage is the launching of the Social Forestry Program by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. One such program is Community Plantation Forest (HTR). Farmers' perception of a program is the main basis for the willingness to participate in a program. The purpose of this study are: 1) Knowing the perception of the community, and 2) Knowing the factors that affect the public perception of the HTR development program in KPH Gedong Wani. The research was conducted in Sinar Ogan Village, Srikaton, Jati Indah, Jati Baru, and Budi Lestari, which is the recipient village of IUPHHK-HTR. Sampling technique using stratified random sampling and obtained as many as 95 respondents by interview method. To know the factors that influence perception using multiple regression. The results of this study show the public perception on the development of HTR in the medium category. Factors that have significant effect on public perception are formal education, informal education, HTR land area, monthly income, availability of information, and intensity of counseling.

Abstract

Forest Education as one of forest area with the special purpose for the research and development, education and training and religion and culture. Forest Education Hasanuddin University is used as a vehicle for the community, especially students and researchers to study forests and interrelationships between components of the ecosystem. In the implementation of Forest Education activity does not occur a bit of intersection between stakeholders in the management. This research was conducted in Bengo-Bengo Forest Education, Hasanuddin University, through literature study and secondary data analysis. This study aims to examine policies and regulations related to the management of forest areas with a specific purpose, especially forest education. More specifically, this study aims to (i) identify laws and regulations governing directly or indirectly forest education, from central to local levels, (ii) reviewing policies and regulations, including reviewing the consistency and synchronization of those policies, and (iii) recommend the forest management education policy

Abstract

Position forest rights as one of the supporting timber availability in the industry can not be separated from the challenges and dynamics of forest product administration. It required a review of management of forest products from the forest rights in its implementation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the rights of forest product administration in Polewali Mandar, using descriptive analysis with the existing indicators on variables and dimensions were obtained in accordance with the guidelines for the interview. The results of analysis tools provide the opportunity regulatory administration of forest products to the widest public / private forest owners as well as the adjustment of government policy related to the field of forestry sustainable forest management (SFM) and Timber Legality Verification (VLK). Implementation of the regulatory activities in the form of socialization only held one and the absence of formal socialization to the new set of rules; Issuing Certificates of Origin (SKAU) wood as much as 33 (thirty-three) of 144 (one hundred and forty-four) villages, yet the publisher SKAU set by BP2HP; SKAU publishing process by following the same line district offices are not in line with existing regulations and create problems in terms of time, cost and control; The lack of reporting of forest production and recapitulation SKAU Publisher SKAU to the district forestry department reporting that impact the realization of the production and distribution of forest products are not going well right.
