Abstract

A conceptual framework for evaluating the effectiveness of robotic game approaches to motivation and performance in geography. In 2017, the standard secondary school curriculum (KSSM) replacing the previous curriculum was introduced as a continuation of curriculum changes in the 21st century. However, these changes still make Geography a compulsory subject for middle and upper secondary subjects. As a result of this change, fewer schools in Malaysia offer geography in the upper middle class and if so, the choice is given to middle school students. This situation is especially critical as most Geography teachers still practice conventional teaching methods in the classroom. The implication is that students are less motivated to study Geography and this phenomenon has also influenced their geographical achievement. Therefore, various 21st century teaching methods have been introduced in classroom learning and facilitating activities. One of the things that started to catch the attention of teachers was the game method. This is because the use of the game approach as a teaching tool has a positive impact on students' engagement and motivation to learn geography. However, unlike in Malaysia, the game's approach has been less widely introduced, especially in geography learning and facilitation in secondary schools. This is due to the lack of appropriate resources and the ability of teachers to apply the skills in learning and facilitating. Therefore, this conceptual framework was developed to evaluate the effectiveness of using a robotic game approach in improving student motivation and achievement in secondary school.

This study is using a quantitative approach study with moderated correlation analysis. High school teachers from different schools who were women took part in this study. In order to test the research hypothesis, the study looked at the validity of the 175 questionnaires that female teachers had filled out. Data analysis is using PROCESS V4.0. According to this study, the relationship between role conflict and work stress is moderated by role ambiguity, which suggests that changes in teaching affect roles as teachers and households. According to this study, the greater a teacher's role conflict and ambiguity, the greater the risk of work stress.

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify the influence of job insecurity and grit toward work engagement on 276 hospitality employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. It consisted of 81 male respondents and 195 female respondents. The sampling technique used was the purposive sampling technique, which has specific criteria. Those criteria are hospitality workers in hotels, the food and beverage industry, administration, marketing, travel, transportation, and housekeeping companies in Jakarta. This research used three measurement tools, namely, the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (17 items; a = .856), the Job Insecurity Scale (9 items; a = .887), and the Grit Scale (12 items; a = .797). Multiple linear regression was used as a data analysis method. The findings indicated that during the COVID-19 pandemic, job insecurity and grit had an impact on the level of work engagement among hospitality employees. Job insecurity and grit both significantly affect how motivated people are at work in the hospitality industry. Employees’ job insecurity and grit have a positive relationship that can raise the value of work engagement. Therefore, decreasing job insecurity calls for high levels of grit and work engagement to keep employee positions within the organization. The strongest correlation was found between the dimensions of grit (perseverance of effort) and work engagement (dedication). Unlike this research, which was conducted on hospitality workers, the previous research was conducted on general workers. They expected the best performance, including maintaining a friendly smile and offering the best service in all circumstances while the pandemic was ongoing.
