Abstract

This study aimed at evaluating the performance of the Family Education Working Group of Education Office in Indonesia to oversee the implementation of the family education program. The research method applied a program evaluation through an analysis of policy stage formulation to the implementation of programs specified in government policy. Using primary data, which was collected by researchers through several instruments, namely: (1) filling sheet in the form of inventory checklist, (2) in-depth interviews, and (3) documentation analysis. The results of data analysis showed that the performance of the family education working group showed a positive results, as seen in the results of mentoring in the education unit more than half of the education units including family education program in the school program and class activities agenda.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors inhibiting the interest of the Kuningan, West Java society, in applying for financing to sharia MSMEs. This research uses field research with a qualitative approach. The types of data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques are through observation, giving questionnaires, and documentation. The population in this study is the community of Kuningan, West Java, which includes the general public and owners businesses in the area. The results of the research on the background of the community not applying for financing are the lack of public knowledge of the existence of sharia SMEs, and the lack of socialization about sharia SMEs. The inhibiting factors for public interest in applying for financing at Islamic banks are the distance of Islamic banking locations, collateral, lack of socialization, different perceptions of sharia MSMEs for each individual.

Abstract

Introduction: Pleural tuberculosis is a pleural infection of tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis which commonly manifests as hydropneumothorax. Initial treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs is aimed to prevent progression of the disease and relieve patient’s symptoms. Indication of adhesiolysis and decortication is to remove layer of fibrous tissue and allow the lung to reexpand.Case: A 60 year old woman with shortness of breath, cough, and right-sided chest pain. She had a history of treatment with first-line anti-tubercular drugs for a year stop in September 2016. She was identified with recurrent right-sided hydropneumothorax by chest imaging and thorax CT-scan. Adhesiolysis and decortication were performed on her. Two months later she was diagnosed again with recurrent right-sided hydropneumothorax. VATS (Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery) revealed fistula involving inferior lobe of the lung. Then, she was treated with second-line anti tuberculosis drugs. After four times reccurent hydropneumothorax, patient showed significant improvement in clinical condition, radiology finding, and lung function test after she finished the tuberculosis treatment.Discussion: Definitive diagnosis of pleural tuberculosis is by the finding of mycobacterium tuberculosis in pleural biopsy, or Mtb culture, and it was difficult to perform. In this case pleural fluid analysis revealed that cause of recurrent right-sided hydropneumothorax was tuberculosis infection.Summary: A 60 year old woman with four times reccurent right-sided hydropneumothorax, and the pleural fluid analysis suggested it was tuberculosis infection. Providing anti-tuberculosis medication based on clinically diagnosed tuberculosis based on flowchart of tuberculosis diagnosis from national tuberculosis programmed are essential to prevent progression of the disease.

Abstract

This study aims to understand how anxiety as a variable contributes to affect the ability in comprehending English texts evaluated on students’ performance on various test types, namely 1) multiple-choice tests (MC), 2) fill-in-the-blank tests (FTB), and 3) true/false tests (TF). This research used ex post facto method, with responses collected from eleventh grade high school students in Jakarta. Respondents worked on tests with similar material, although at different times. Students’ anxiety was measured based on behavioral and cognitive characteristics listed on the questionnaire given to respondents along with the English test. The results pointed out that there was indeed a difference ofstudents’ anxiety levels in working on the various English text comprehension tests given. The results of the English text comprehension tests were generally influenced by the anxiety variable, although the effect was found to be small. Teachers are recommended to apply multiple variations of ability evaluation in measuring the students’ English text comprehension by using multiple test modes.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to develop a model of reading strategies of English language learning which is expected to further enhance students’ cognitive abilities in English. The model reading strategies serve as a strategy to read the English subtitles via bottom-up, top-down and mixed strategies that are capable of triggering the students' critical thinking and have been integrated with development ideas from experts and linguists. The study employed a cluster random sampling of 30 schools and 900 students for the standardization of the model reading strategies as a new model that best enhance the cognitive power of English language learning. The method used was Research and Development, through  seven steps in the research cycles. The subjects were high school students in the class tenth in  Special Capital Region of Jakarta. The steps to reading development strategy that are able to improve the cognitive of students are 6 steps consisting of:  overall understanding,  understanding on contextual meaning,  assumption of contextual meaning,  look for meaning in contextual output,  searching for further meaning, and  returning to the main idea of ​​our thinking.   ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan model pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yakni reading strategies, yang diharapkan dapat meningkatkan daya kognitif bahasa Inggris siswa. Permodelan reading strategies sebagai strategi untuk membaca teks bahasa Inggris melalui strategi bottom-up, top-down dan mixed yang mampu memicu pemikiran kritis siswa dan telah diintegrasikan dengan gagasan pengembangan dari para ahli dan ahli bahasa. Dengan cluster random sampling terpilih sebanyak 30 sekolah dan 900 siswa untuk standarisasi model reading strategies sebagai model baru yang dapat meningkatkan daya kognitif bahasa Inggris siswa. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development, melalui tujuh langkah dalam siklus penelitian. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa SMA di kelas sepuluh di DKI Jakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa reading strategies yang dapat meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif siswa yaitu melalui adalah 6 langkah strategi membaca yaitu:  pemahaman teks secara utuh, memahami makna dalam konteks, berpikir dan menduga tentang makna, mencari makna dalam konteks, mencari makna lebih jauh, dan kembali pada pemikiran makna kata. Abstract

English is a foreign language in this country which is needed by all sides especially by teenagers  since English, both competence and performance, will be always needed by workers in all kinds of jobs.  The teenagers in kelurahan Cipedak Jagakarsa South Jakarta have been united in an teenagers organization which is called Karang Taruna. They were enthusiastic to engage in an English Action Research called EBL (English for A Better Life). EBL was an activity as an English action being carried out by implementing  an Oral Questioning Guidance in L1 (OQIGIL) method.  This OQIGIL method aimed at improving the awarness of teaching of a teacher to increase his students’ communication skills. An OQIGIL Method which is developed from time to time was based on a systematic procedure  focused on  a certain quality or a standard, and an accurateness and a certain efficiency as well. After this EBL was undertaken several times, the students’ competence and performance improved better.

Abstract

Target of this study is to standardize the English learning and teaching model which is  well-granted.  The issues faced by the  English researchers are to find a method so effectively that semantico grammatical knowledge mastery related to English notion and function which has not found the solution can be formulated as a national standard since the data collected at Jakarta and Depok Junior and senior high schools showed the same issues.  The findings of the study showed that there were 90% of Junior and Senior High Schools Students had not been confident to speak English. It is why the researchers introduce the Oral Questioning in L1 and Guidance Method (OQILAG) which is going to be shot and saved in saver and internet localized,  and enable the students to use smartphone while speaking English  directed by the researcher as a film teacher  through LCD (in-focus) in national research next year as a model of e-learning. The data which were stated by English senior teachers showed that there were 90% of Muhammadiyah junior high school unconfident to speak English. Thus, the researchers introduce  OQILAG method planned to have been shot and saved in a saver, presented by LCD (in-focus) called e-learning  implemented in 2019 research as a national research. Oral questioning in L1 and Guidance (OQILAG) method has succeeded  several times to develop of students’ competence and workers as well; however, it has never been examined at private  Junior High School, yet developing of the students English skills  especially  at Muhammadiyah Junior High School was the first times done

Abstract

Teachers are recommended to use multiple teaching methods, and to teach and motivate the students to read more. Teachers are also recommended to apply multiple variations of ability evaluation in measuring the students’ English text comprehension by using multiple test modes.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja satuan pendidik yang kemudian dilihat pengaruhnya dari faktor motivasi, disiplin dan gaya kepemimpinan pimpinan lembaga pendidikan tersebut. Teropong utama tertuju pada kinerja guru bahasa Inggris Sekolah Menengah Pertama Jakarta. Sampel diperoleh melalui teknik cluster random sampling. Data kuantitatif dikumpulkan melalui kegiatan survei, melalui instrumen penelitian berupa angket dan wawancara yang bersifat terstruktur. Analisis data berupa regresi ganda. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa (1) terdapat pengaruh motivasi terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris, (2) terdapat pengaruh disiplin kerja terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris, (3) terdapat pengaruh gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris, dan (4) terdapat pengaruh bersama antara motivasi, disiplin dan gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah terhadap kinerja guru bahasa Inggris.  Kata Kunci : Performance, motivasi, disiplin, dan leadership style

Abstract

The research is to find out the students’ speaking difficulties encountered by Islamic Boarding School Daarul Mughni Bogor, Indonesia. The research objective identifies and describes the process result of the students’ observation, questionnaire, and interview related to linguistic factors, non-linguistic factors, and both causes. The subject of this research is the students as about 80 respondents with a descriptive analysis of qualitative research. The research methodology is considered to be appropriately applied for the study of linguistic analysis and a description of the data. The population of the research study is the 12th – grade students of Daarul Mughni Islamic Boarding School Bogor, Indonesia. The sample of the research study was chosen by using a simple random sample of 80 respondents of 292 students. Descriptive research is selected by the researcher because it deals with the phenomenon of the students’ speaking difficulties in a real-life situation that happened to the students while they are speaking English at school. The description of the questionnaire result explains about three aspects such as linguistic factors, non- linguistic factors, and the causes of speaking difficulties related to the environment, speaking difficulties related to English teaching, and curriculum design
