Abstract

This study aims to analyze How Public Service Board of Library and RegionalArchives Riau Province, hereinafter referred to as (BPAD) Riau Province. This isdone to look at the quality and how much success BPAD Riau Province in performingits main function for the people who need the information in the Library, PublicServices how and what has or has not been done by the libraries in improving servicequality perceptions positively or negatively to quality of public services provided bythe Library Visitors Riau BPAD can be used as input for later followed up todetermine new strategies for improving the quality of services that aim to improve ordefend it.Methods used are qualitative methods and data collected by focuss groupdiscussion (FGD) and inferred based on five aspects of service quality therespondents were library patrons who use library services in BPAD as many as 14people consisting of 2 librarians, lecturers 3, 4 general (civil servants and private), 3students of, and 2 students, by using the technique of purposive sampling. Based FGDresults showed that for BPAD reliability aspects are at a good level, for aspects ofresponsiveness and confidence is at a level sufficient to aspects while empathy is at alevel less so for this aspect needs to be improved towards a better, while for theintangible aspects of BPAD services are at a satisfactory level and this needs to bemaintained in order to remain on the future state of the user satisfactory.

Abstract

SRC-4 starin is one of bacteria sellulose producing strains. It was obtained from the rottencoconut meat from Semplak, Bogor. The objective of this study is to obtain the optimumcomposition of modified HS medium to produce cellulose, by increasing yeast extractconcentration and also combination of carbon and vitamin sources. The production of celluloseby SRC-4 was done by 18 treatments on static culture. The increasing of yeast extractconcentration, combination of carbon and vitamin sources gave significant effect to theproduction of cellulose. The highest yield of cellulose was produced at the treatment consist of1.0 % yeat extract (as nitrogen source), 1 % glucose + 1 % glycerol (as carbon source) and0.164 ppm vitamin B1 + 0.020 ppm vitamin B2 (as vitamin source).

Abstract

This study was intended to develop a learning strategy that could improve their readingcomprehension. The strategy selected was sensitizing technique. It was developed forthe sake of improving the students’ reading comprehension, namely: literalcomprehension, interpretive comprehension and critical comprehension. The study wasClassroom Action Research. The procedure of the research consisted of four majorsteps namely; planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. It consisted of twocycles. Each of them consisted of three meetings for the teaching learning process andone meeting for quiz. The result of the research showed that sensitizing readingtechnique was effective in increasing the students’ reading comprehensionachievements. This fact was clearly indicated by the increasing of percentages ofachievement through the cycles of action that was 52.7 % (Pre-test), 66.9 % (Cycle 1),and 81.8 % (Cycle 2). The scores had fulfilled the criteria of success in implementingsensitizing-reading technique namely the improvement of students’ readingcomprehension ability.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi direct strategysiswa dalam memahami sebuah ide di kelas dua SMAN Olahraga Riau. Desainpenelitian ini adalah survey pendapat dan kebiasaan. Sample dari penelitian iniberjumlah 50 siswa dari kelas dua SMAN Olahraga Riau. Instrumen yangdigunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah angket. Desain angket yang digunakanadalah direct strategy siswa. Angket dianalisa dengan menggunakan rumusdeskriptif statistik dan Likert Scale. Hasil dari analisa mengenai strategimengingat menunjukan nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 3.99 dengan level sedang.Strategi Pengetahuan menunjukan nilai rata-rata siswa 3.74 dengan level sedag.Sedangkan strategi pergantian menunjukan nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 3.86dalam level sedang. Kesimpulannya, siswa lebih tertarik menggunakan strategimengingat dalam memahami sebuah ide di kelas dua siswa SMAN Olahraga Riau.

Abstract

The phenomenon found from this research was the students did not know how topronounce appropriate intonation in speaking context because they did not realize thefunction of intonation that different intonation have different meaning. The purpose of theresearch was found out the students' ability In Using English Intonation at the FourthSemester Students of English Education Department Lancang Kuning University inAcademic Year 2013-2014. Type of the research was cross-sectional survey design aiming tobe an evaluation program. The sample of this research consisted of 27 students. Theinstrument used in this research was test. In collecting data, the researcher tested them dealtwith sentences or expression of simple patterns of English intonation namely falling andrising intonation. The data gained was analyzed by using descriptive statistics.Moreover, thefinding of the research showed that total of students’ score was 2110, the mean score was 78,mode of the students’ score was 70, median of students’ score was 75, variance of thestudents’ score was 57.33 and standard deviation of the students’ score was 7.57. The rangescore from lowest score 70 to highest score 95 was 25 points. After analyzing the data, thevariety of data was categorized into homogenous and the range of score was categorized intolow score or could be said that the mean score was representative. Then mean score ofstudents was categorized into good level based on grade course of phonology, score 70-79was categorized into good level or got score B. Inbrief, the students’ ability in using Englishintonation (simple patterns of English intonation) was categorized into “Good level”.Therefore, the findings of this research would be useful for the Phonology’s lecturer asevaluated in teaching program.
