Abstract

The use of appropriate media to facilitate student activities in learning physics is still very minimal at this time. This has an impact on the lack of enthusiasm of students in learning physics which will indirectly affect their learning outcomes. The integration of interactive multimedia in direct learning is an alternative solution in carrying out activities in physics learning. This quasi-experimental research aims to determine the effect of using interactive multimedia in direct learning on students' cognitive learning outcomes for GLB-GLBB material. The research design used was a pretest-posttest control group design with purposive sampling as sampling technique. The respondents for this research were 45 students of Class X MIA in one of the senior high schools in Sumbawa Regency, which were divided into 2 groups, experimental and control. Data analysis used the ANOVA test to determine the significance of the difference in the mean of the two groups. The question instrument used to collect data on students' cognitive learning outcomes is in the form of descriptions with a total of 5 items. The ANOVA test results obtained a significance of 0.175, where the significance value is greater than 0.05. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the use of interactive multimedia that is integrated in direct learning does not significantly affect students' cognitive learning outcomes for GLB-GLBB material.

Abstract

Solid-state is a compulsory subject in the Physics Education study program. Therefore, the level of complexity—depth—of the material taught is moderate. However, students are facing some obstacles in understanding crystal structure material that is related to microscopic structures. This research aims to apply diamond software media to crystal structure material, from which students' scientific attitudes can be discovered. The method used in this study is the qualitative description. The research subjects totaled 23 students. The data collection technique was carried out by measuring students' scientific attitudes after using the Diamond software. The results showed that the Diamond software could be used in Solid State Physics course. In contrast, the scientific perspective showed good results, which is indicated by the scientific attitude questionnaire score reaching more than 80% within the high category. Meanwhile, student responses indicate that the acceptance rate of Diamond software as a learning medium in Solid State Physics course is 86.25%, or falls into the high category.

Abstract

We find many applications of physics in everyday life, ranging from simple things to complex things. One example of the application of physics in everyday life is the activity of drying tobacco, when in its management there are concepts of temperature and heat. This study aims to examine the mechanism of drying tobacco based on the concept of heat which can later be integrated into the physics learning. The research method consists of observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis stage in this study consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that in the tobacco drying mechanism there is a conduction heat transfer process during the fire curing and convection heat transfer process during the air curing in the drying warehouse and radiation heat transfer in sun drying. Due to the transfer of heat into the tobacco causes evaporation so that the water content in the tobacco is reduced. The factors that cause evaporation are difference in temperature, wind, humidity, cross-sectional area, and air pressure.

Abstract

In the 2013 curriculum, one of the efforts to improve the quality of human resources in Indonesia is to increase HOTS in the learning of every school student. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of 2019, there have been changes in all areas of life, especially education. Learning during the COVID-19 pandemic was greatly disrupted because of the limited hours of lessons, besides that there were many other obstacles such as the availability of inadequate online learning support media during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the delivery of material delivered by the teacher was also not optimal due to limited circumstances with only through virtual mode. This study aims to determine the availability of HOTS indicators on physics questions at SMA Adabiah 2 Padang during the covid 19 pandemic. This research instrument is an instrument that has been validated with a valid category. The research method used is a documentation study with UTS and UAS assessment sheets for class X MIPA students. Analysis of the data used in determining the availability of HOTS indicators in this Physics problem uses the formula (∑HOTS of components that appear)/(number of HOTS of components that appear) × 100%. In this study, it was found that the percentage value of the availability of the HOTS indicator on UTS questions was lower than on UAS questions, with the percentage of UTS questions being 8% and the percentage on UAS questions being 24%. Then the percentage for problem-solving indicators is 66.7%, decision-making skills indicators are 85.71%, critical thinking skills indicators are 88.89%, and creative thinking skills indicators are 51.14%. Critical thinking ability has the highest percentage value with a value of 88.89%. From the data, it can be concluded that the percentage value of HOTS availability on UTS questions is lower than the UAS percentage value. The value of critical thinking ability has the first highest percentage indicator, then decision-making ability is in the second position, problem-solving skills is in third place, and the last is the ability to think creatively.
