The results show  that the variables of local taxes and retribution have a significant effect and has positive relationship to regional gross domestic product, while capital expenditure  have no significant effect on regional gross domestic product.  For  variable  labor  force  participation  rate  (LFPR)  is  significantly influence but negative correlation to the regional gross domestic product . Based on the results obtained by the coefficient determination of 98,42% variable means of local taxes, levies, capital expenditures and LFPR in this study may explain the dependent variable is the regional gross domestic product.DOI: 10.15408/sjie.v4i1.2296

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the impact of industrialization on the regional economic development. Gresik regency was chosen as the research setting for it is one of largest industrial areas in East Java. The analysis instruments used were: First, the regression analysis, to determine the impact of industrialization on economic growth, unemployment, and poverty. Second, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), it was used to investigate the impact of industrialization on the community welfare. Third, Monte Carlo simulation that used to formulate a recommendation. The result showed that the industrialization in Gresik still has not been able to give extensive significant impact for the community in Gresik regency and its existence can only be enjoyed by nearby residents. Based on the simulation results, showed that the strong commitment between Gresik local government and the industry in order to address the problem of unemployment is very necessary due to its’ greatest impact.DOI: 10.15408/sjie.v6i2.5334

Abstract

This paper examines the effect of macroeconomic variables, demographic factors toward current account balance in Nigeria. It analyzed the connection between each of domestic savings and investment on current account balance by examining the role and direction of the selected demographic variables. The Toda-Yamamoto approach to causality was used to analyze the study. The result shows that the direction of causality was from both domestic saving and investment to current account balance. However, there is no reverse causation from the current account balance to domestic saving and investment. Thus, the selected demographic variables had no significant causation towards current account balance, investment, and domestic saving. The government needs to finance the desired investment through increased domestic saving without undue reliance on foreign resources

Abstract

The objective of this research to determine how the influence of macro variables were Profit Sharing Ratio (equivalent rate), Inflation, GDP, and SWBI against Mudharabah Savings at Islamic Banking in Indonesia. The data used in this research were data time series by using multiple regressions and analysis by Ordinary Least Squares. The results showed that simultaneously independent variables (Profit Sharing ratio, Inflation, GDP, and SWBI have significant influence the dependent variable (MudharabaH Savings) with probability 0.000000. End that partially independent variables (Inflation with probability 0.0013, GDP with probability 0.0000, and SWBI with probability 0.0000 have positively influence and significantly to dependent variable (Mudharabah Savings) in the Islamic Banking of Indonesia. While between the variable independent (Profit Sharing ratio) to dependent variable (Mudharabah Savings) have not significantly with probability 0.2040, in the Islamic Banking of IndonesiaDOI: 10.15408/sjie.v2i2.2425

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to measure efficiency level of sharia banking in Malysia and Indonesia countries and to analyze the factors affecting the level of efficiency of sharia banking for both countries. This reseach uses DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method in order to test the assumptions of Variabel Return to Scale (VRS), and uses Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Mann Whitney U-Test in order to test normality, and uses regression dummy variable of the data from the first quarter of 2011 until the fourth quarter of 2014. The research shows overall level of efficiency of sharia banking in Malaysia and Indonesia countries are fluctuating. Based on result, sharia banking in Indonesia more efficient than sharia banking in Malaysia; However, there is no significant differences among them. The reasons of this inefficiency are deposits, total  financing, fixed asset, and personnel cost. However, operational income is the most efficient variabel for both countriesDOI:  10.15408/sjie.v5i1.3129

Abstract

Unemployment is a problem that occurs in many countries and often gets special attention both from policymakers and academics. This fact is because if not addressed, it will cause socio-economic problems in the country. Therefore it is necessary to formulate the causes of unemployment by involving spatial aspects to avoid biased and inefficient estimates. This study aims to find the determinants of unemployment rates in Indonesia, including calculating the direct and indirect effect of using the spatial Durbin models (SDM) in the period 2000-2017. The results of this study indicate that the overall independent variables used significantly influence the unemployment rate in Indonesia. Besides, it turns out that the higher education variable completed by the population of a region has the most significant impact both in decreasing unemployment in a region and neighboring regions. Therefore, the policy taken should pay attention to this.

Abstract

The economic development in ASEAN still declines environmental quality, whereas the worst environmental quality became negative externality reduce output in many sectors of ASEAN’s economy. This paper aimed to analyze the two-way relationship among economic development and environmental degradation in ASEAN with the factors which influenced it. This article used a panel data from eight ASEAN countries with the period of 2004 – 2013. The analysis method used simultaneous equation model. The results showed the two-way relationship between economic development and environmental degradation in ASEAN existed. Moreover, Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita and energy consumption had a positive impact on environmental degradation. Meanwhile, carbon dioxide emission per capita and trade openness had a positive effect on economic development. Therefore, the economic development strategy for ASEAN countries should be directed to increase GDP per capita and reduce the energy consumption.DOI: 10.15408/sjie.v7i1.6024
