Abstract

Earthquake that occurred in the area of West Sumatera, especially the earthquake that occurred repeatedly since 2004 to 2009 has greatly impacted to the progress and development of fishing effort in seven districts that have sea area in West Sumatera. This study aims to assess the marine business conditions after the earthquake in West Sumatra for can be considered to make policy in the management of fishing effort further. Marine fisheries statistics data indicate that there has been a decline in the number of fishermen postearthquake from 2005 to 2009 as 22.49 percent, the decline in capture fisheries production to 16.12 percent and a decrease in the fishing fleet to 23.89 percent. In resource management and development strategies in the field of maritime affairs and fisheries, it is important to make a comprehensive policy after the earthquake in West Sumatra.

The nature of this study used qualitative methods-phenomenalogis with research sites in the city of Bengkulu. Data collection techniques include collecting secondary data and primary data through the determination of the informants, observation, depth interviews, FGDs. Results of research found a patron-client relationships are still very dominating this region, and once the economy of social security for fishermen. Kinship relations are generally good. Social solidarity is still high but not a guarantee, and survival strategies of fishermen are still relatively traditional sort because only starting point on the sea fishing only and does not extend to other areas that still use of marine resources. Abstract

This study analyzed the gender role allocation of wholesale-traders and coffee producers in their post harvest activities in Rejanglebong and Lebong District. It examined the major participants in the coffee postharvest subsystem, identified roles and characteristics, and their problems and needs in performing these roles. These were analyzed using descriptive statistics like frequency, percentage, mean, ranking and standard deviation. Twenty-five wholesale-traders and forty-three coffee producers served as respondents of this study. Coffee business is the major income source of the respondents. Decisions in carrying out postharvest activities were done solely by the males or jointly by males and females since males played the manager’s role. Problems encountered in performing coffee postharvest activities were: technical know-how in coffee processing; low and fluctuating prices; lack of storage facilities; occurrence of bad weather condition and too high coffee trees and difficulty in hiring laborers during peak season.

Abstract

This research objectives are first, to determine the influence of potential fiscal (local revenue, general allocation fund, sharing fund, and other official local revenues) to local economic growth. Second, to study potential fiscal impact and local economic growth to its society welfare. The study took all population as it samples (116 cities in Java), ie: local budget realization of all cities in Java from 2007-2009 and uses panel data. Lisrel 8.54 is employed to analyze to form Structural Equation Modeling. The result shows that first, local revenues and sharing fund have positive influence to economic growth, while general allocation fund and other local revenues influence negatively to economic growth. Second, local revenues, general allocation fund and sharing fund have positive impact on local society welfare, while the other local revenues have no significant impact on it.

Abstract

The objective of the paper was to understand the impact of sub regional economic cooperation, known as the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), on trade sector in Indonesia. The approach of research based on export macro information by provinces and commodities. The method used in the analytical framework was a fixed effect method. The regional study covered Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, North Sumatera, West Sumatera, and Riau provinces, and the commodities involved CPO, coffee and rubber, with 1990-2008 data series. Based on pooled regression, there was a significant impact on export from the four provinces to Malaysia and Thailand for all based years. One might focus on commodity level that, in fact, CPO was the only one commodity that had a significant impact within the IMTGT region. In addition, Thai Bath and Malaysian Ringgit, with respect to GDP for both countries, had significant influenced on export, especially after the IMT-GT endorsed.

Abstract

This article attempts to estimate demand for M2 money in Indonesia using time series non-stationary technique in 1997.1 - 2006.4. There are four methods are used in research, first, VAR estimation used to forecast model which have interaction of data time series. Second, function impulse response to see response from every variable to structural innovation of the other variables at the same time. Third, variance decomposition to know dissociating variation change of shock from each variable to other variables in model. Fourth method, ADL ECM to see long-range adjustment in variable, before and after addition of variable. The result, there are non-stationary condition in the time series data in the research. Result of VAR estimation show that there is no causality relation two ways among fifth of variable. From impulse, response known that response of M2 variable to other variable very fluctuative but finally the condition will return to stabilize.

Abstract

The objectives of the study are: to compare the model of fisheries management with conventional versus new paradigm; to explore the prospect of new fisheries management model; to formulate the initial strategy of fisheries management model using EBFM. The ecosystem of Karimunjawa is selected as the pilot project of this research. The competent 25 keypersons were selected using purposive quoted sampling for interview. Descriptive statistics, meta-analysis and AHP were employed to analize the data. The results showed that the conventional fisheries management models were rather ineffective to answer the current situation of fisheries resource. We need facing out to find a suitable approach of fisheries management model. One of the proposed new paradigm is EBFM. This model indicates has a good prospect to manage the fisheries resource in the study area. This study suggests that EBFM model should be under-tried out. If it is acceptable, then the model can be implemented for other region.

Abstract

This article discuss about microfinance organizations. The research based on analysis of efficiency of Badan Kredit Desa (BKD) in Sukoharjo district in Central of Java Province. In the earlier, paper discuss about microfinance and its role in the economics development. Analysis data use Data Envelopment Analysis with three inputs and two outputs to analysis of financial performance and eight inputs and four outputs to analysis of general efficiency. This research found that from 169 BKD used as setting in this research, only 21 BKD have efficiency in finance performance and 73 BKD in general performance. In the future, microfinance organizations (BKD) need innovation especially in the system which originated in developing countries where it has successfully enabled extremely impoverished people to engage in self-employment projects that allow them to generate an income and, in many cases, begin to build wealth and exit poverty. Due to the success of microcredit, many in the traditional banking industry have begun to realize that these microcredit borrowers should more correctly be categorized as pre-bankable; thus, microcredit is increasingly gaining credibility in the mainstream finance industry and many traditional large finance organizations are contemplating microcredit projects as a source of future growth.
